Quinta Ecológica da Peneda Agroturismo by Peneda Ecofarm

Our small group was fortunate enough to have an afternoon farm-to-table experience with Elisabete in the warmth of her kitchen. Our party of eight, was treated to a delightful luncheon of which we helped prepare. Elisabete's passion for good quality food, along with her expertise in the kitchen and generous hospitality left not only our stomach's full but our hearts as well. Although we did not stay on property, we received a small tour and if you are looking for charming and 'off the beaten path' definitely consider Quinta Ecologica Da Peneda!

This was a fantastic accidental find when online searching for Portuguese rural outdoor opportunities, especially hiking, and great accommodations. Our hosts, the creators of this beautiful place, Elizabeth and Pedro, are bilingual. They are experts at helping find,and transporting to, wonderful Ecovia walks on lovely wooded paths along the beautiful rivers around Arcos de Valdevez. Meals were prepared lovingly by Elizabeth each day from organic fresh ingredients, vegan if you so choose! Best of all , we were so humbled to be treated like family for meals and advice and help in planning. Elizabeth also arranged a great jeep tour of the nearby Peneda’s-Geres National Park. We chose to fly to Porto from the US in order to spend a week acclimating for our trek on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Pedro even planned and the drove us into Galicia for ease of reaching our beginning point on the Camino. All in all this was an extraordinarily lucky experience and one we will repeat! Elizabeth and Pedro are now making available a family biking tour of the Portuguese Way to Santiago de Compostela! It is in our future! Thank you, Elizabeth and Pedro. You are dear to us!

Organic food. Great hospitality. Big rooms Wonderful team. Great food. Big rooms. If you are in the Camino they will even pick you up from nearby routes. Note they are creasing this lovely eco farm so some areas are a work in progress. The owner is so special. Ask her about what she led in Porto before she and her family began creating their dream Ecopeneda. - impressive was in Porto their Big nature gardens … Great hiking and exploring lovely towns. Could not recommend this place enough! Truly loved every minute of my time at Peneda Ecofarm. From the beautiful property and gardens, to the meticulous eco-friendly engineering of the main house and guest houses designed by hosts Elizabete and Pedro, to the delicious homemade food, it’s difficult to choose my single favorite part of my weeklong stay. If I had to though, I’d probably say the hospitality of Elizabete and Pedro, as well as their kids and neighbor Paul who helped build the property. They taught me so much about the region and indigenous animals, plants, fruits and vegetables, suggesting beautiful scenic hiking or e-biking trails in Peneda Geres National Park that only locals know, and generally making me feel like part of their family. If you’re looking to get an authentic local experience of the area, or curious about how to live off the land, this is the way to do it. Five stars do not feel like enough. Can’t wait to come again!

Everything about our stay at the Quinta Ecologica was amazing. Elisabete and her family are incredibly welcoming and generous. They have restored a beautiful old farm house and are passionate about environmental sustainability and living harmoniously with nature. The accommodations were exactly as described and we found the beds to be very comfortable (a must after a long day spent exploring the national park)! We took advantage of the optional dinners cooked by Elisabete and we were not disappointed! The meals were fresh, wholesome, and very tasty. We enjoyed the nightly conversation and felt like part of the family. I highly recommend Quinta Ecologica Da Peneda and would stay here again.
