Kuyana Amazon Lodge

After driving down a nearly impassable narrow road from Archidonas we arrived at the Kuyana Amazon Lodge and it was like entering paradise. We were met by our guide Miguel who attended to our every need for the three days we were there. We were served traditional native welcome tea when we arrived after which we were escorted to our cabin. The cabin was beautiful and very clean and well supplied including drinking water, shampoo and a hairdryer. The staff cleans the cabin every morning. The meals, which were local cuisine, were very tasty and beautifully presented. Our guide explained each meal to us. One evening we were able to prepare our own dinner, tilapia wrapped in a banana leaf. We prepared cocoa beans, cooked them and enjoyed them for dessert. The tours offered were well worth it. The hike to the waterfall was wonderful and the swim was refreshing. Our guide was very knowledgeable as well as personable and engaging. I recommend the night tour where you encounter Amazon creatures you’d never come across during the day. At night the jungle comes alive with so many interesting sounds. The pool is clean and refreshing. We fell in love with Ramona, the rescue monkey that lives at the lodge. She is so entertaining and a lot of fun to have around. Our time at Kuyana Amazon Lodge was one of the highlights of our vacation.

What a fantastic experience! From the moment we were greeted until the moment we left, everything was fantastic. Our daily guide, Miguel, couldn’t have been better. He was easy going, knowledgeable, helpful and fun to talk to. The food was delicious at every meal, without exception. The cabins and grounds are comfortable and inviting. The surrounding jungle is beautiful. We took a rafting trip, arranged through Kuyana, which was exciting and beautiful. I highly recommend the rafting trip. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner, Ivan, and enjoy good conversation with him before we left.

I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful experience in the beautiful Amazon jungle! The lodge and rooms are incredibly beautiful, spacious, private and personal. The food, the staff, the service, the warm welcoming, the amazing guide Edison, the activities; all perfect. And, I had the unique luxury of having it all to myself. Now, all I can think of is when to come back. Thank you so much for making my first visit to the Amazon’s so special!

We had high expectations coming here. They were exceeded.. Before even arriving, the communication with Maria on WhatsApp was sincere and thorough. She was very patient with my many questions. Opting for the white water rafting experience package and arriving from the river was amazing. The place exudes relaxation and the lodge buildings all integrate into the natural environment well without dominating. All the staff worked hard and seemed positive, for example, the kitchen staff could be heard singing on several days. The food is outstanding with no issues for vegetarians. Edison, our guide for all the experiences during the four days we stayed, was equally outstanding. His knowledgeable, compassionate and caring attitude really helped make our experiences memorable and was one of the best guides we have ever had. Marcello, our driver from Quito to the lodge and back, was also a great skilled driver who also had great recommendations for lunch stops. Hot water wasn’t always available, but we didn’t care this place was a highlight in Ecuador. Highly Recommend.
