"The room was actually a local family's small villa. The garden was teeming with mosquitoes. The owner lived in the same city but never showed up, and the key was locked in a combination lock box by the door, but they wouldn't tell you the password beforehand. They sent an email in advance, entirely in French, requiring a confirmation reply before giving you the password. Check-in was a huge hassle; I finally had to make an international call to the host to get the password. The experience was truly terrible. I contacted Ctrip customer service, and they offered some compensation—thank you. The room itself was quite nice, clean, with a charming, old-fashioned castle style, and all the appliances were provided, but the overall experience was really bad. Communication is difficult if you don't speak French. The host left a message in the Ctrip chat box beforehand, but it remained unread. Why leave a message if they don't intend to read it? If I didn't speak French, check-in would have been virtually impossible. This was definitely inconsiderate and unreliable. I sincerely suggest that Ctrip reduce its cooperation with these types of homestays and hotels that are directly transferred from foreign platforms. Language communication may not be smooth for these hotels, and since they are privately owned and operate like Airbnb properties, they are not managed by a dedicated hotel team. Communication and service in all aspects are obviously inadequate, which can easily lead to customer complaints and force Ctrip to pay compensation. Why bother? I suggest simply reducing cooperation with these types of hotels on Ctrip."
