The Seagate

We have stayed in a number of Youngs pubs across the south and sadly this was by a very long way the most disappointing. The room (9) was very small with a completely obscured window which made it feel claustrophobic. I suspect it should only really be for single occupancy which would also explain why there was only one bedside lamp. The extractor fan in the shower room didn’t work so after a shower the room was like a sauna/steam room. We opened the window but it was directly above the bed and so when it rained the rain came in onto the pillows, and we were then also woken on numerous occasions throughout the night by the compressor/ac unit on the flat roof just outside the window. There were large scrapes in the walls which looked scruffy, the double glazed units need replacing and the bathroom was dated. It bore no resemblance to the room photos online, or rooms in other Young’s pubs we have stayed in, and was very poor value at £148 per night. I feel it was only worth half that. The staff are friendly and judging from other reviews all the other rooms are very pleasant, so I would just advise not accepting room 9 unless you’re desperate. We booked direct so should have been offered an upgrade if there was another room free, I can only assume there wasn’t.

Fantastic place to stay right on the sea front. We were in the annex. We had 2 dogs with us. Fantastic room really comfy large bed. Large bed room, large bathroom. Food was amazing really large portions. Staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Definitely stay again

Jason and Brendan are two very helpful members of staff. The accommodation is excellent as always and it's always nice to start the day with a view of the estuary and a hearty breakfast.

We came here last minute for Sunday lunch - we'd booked at The Beaver pub weeks ago but they had run out of all Sunday roast options! We didn't want anything on their really limited menu so just walked out into the rain to try the Seagate. At first they couldn't offer us the roast as it was not for walk ins - something the Beaver should have done - but we explained to the waitress Anise and she went off to plead our case. She came back to say ok under the circumstances and to say we were relieved was an understatement! They still had both beef and pork available - we had pork which was gorgeous. So thanks Seagate for saving the day, a lovely lunch and to their star Anise who went the extra mile for us 😀

We visited for a family funeral. I wasn't sure if I would make it until a day before, but Ruth set my mind at ease and was an absolute star! The room was beautiful, the staff incredible and the breakfast to die for! We will one hundred percent recommend and hope to be back soon.
