Found a frito on the floor and there was a spot right in front of the door that was sticky enough to grab your shoe. Water was dripping from the ceiling in the corner and we were on the first floor. Gap by the heating unit that allowed cold air in about as fast as the heater would warm the room.

The room is OK, not big; the bathroom, especially the shower room, is very small, and the amount of water is also very small; there is breakfast, milk, cereal, yogurt, etc. to fill you up. The advantage is the price.

The room is not big, the bathroom is relatively small, the equipment is good, and it is an economical hotel.

I stayed in the room 207 for three months in 2020. The room is pleasant, there is all furniture one needs. A lady and guys in front desk were very kind with me. Whenever I had a request they strived to help me. It is a very nice hotel and staff. A quiet and safe place, kind staff, fresh air, beautiful nature! If I had a chance to come back to Ann Arbor I would definitely stay in University Inn.

This place is nearly uninhabitable. The pictures posted by the property are not reality. It must have been a long time since it was inspected. Water stains and peeling paint on the ceiling. Linens were stained. Mold on the walls. Blinds from floor to ceiling were falling apart and didn’t close to keep the exterior fluorescent lights from shining in. I will say one positive: it was quiet. See pictures for a good representation of what we experienced.

DO NOT STAY HERE AT ANY COST! My partner and I had an awful experience at this place and feel obligated to warn others. First, this is misrepresented as a hotel when it is a poorly maintained motel. Second, the cleanliness of this motel is worse than terrible and deserves 0/5 stars. There was significant mold present on the AC unit, lampshade, and shower/bathroom area. Was then shown another room after bringing this to the attention of the staff but there was mold in this room as well. There were also MULTIPLE cigarette burns on both comforters and sheets despite a “no smoking policy”. The front desk staff acts friendly but negates to tell you all the SERIOUS flaws. Ended up not staying a single night and my partner, who made the booking, was told she would receive a full refund for the additional night booked, but of course, the next day she was told “this was no longer possible to do”. I can’t emphasize it enough: DO NOT STAY HERE

Very, very worn and tired, not updated. Not at all “quaint.”Carpet in the room felt gross. Nothing seemed very clean. Bathroom had rust stains and tub had seen much, much better days. Stairwells were dirty and stained. Moldy bread at breakfast.

Misrepresented as a hotel when it is a MOTEL. On-line statement as hotel and pictures of rooms very different to the room we were given. We were stunned. Property in state of disrepair. Housekeeping bleached clean bathroom and provided crisp clean bedding but was not able to compensate for state of walls and doors that needed painting, the rusty shower rail, rusty door hinges, cracked tiles in bathroom, stained carpet, water coming under door during storm, outside stone stairway needed sweeping, one light not working in room, only 2 small 4 seater tables in dining room so those who came for breakfast after tables taken, looked around and just picked up a few items from breakfast selection and went back to their rooms. Air conditioner unit was clean but super noisy. Thin safety chain on door kept getting stuck, as did the door, and we did not feel safe staying there.

This is an average hotel with a decent price for an overnight stay. Needs a lot of attention to cosmetic detail. The main aspects like the shower heater and beds was good. A few drawbacks like the coffee maker didn’t work. There is no breakfast as the attendant for the front desk doesn’t arrive till 8am. Room was clean and bedding was comfortable. There is a microwave and refrigerator in room.

Good location. Comfortable bed. Awful rest of room and terrible bathroom. Desperately in need of renovation. Moldy and broken grout and tiles. Slats or window blindsfalling off. Wood trim and molding broken. Stink bugs in room. Shower temperature fluctuates between hot and cold.

The University Inn is extremely good value for the price. The mid-century decor (tiling, etc) is classic if a little worn. New, comfortable bed, nice study nook off the bedroom, all the usual appliances. The overall quality is much better than most lower-priced lodgings. Parking outside the room. Second floor is walk-up.

Love parking outside the room. Booked a kitchen suite, not equipped to cook in. 1 plate, 1 saucer, 1 bowl. 2 each coffee cup and silverware. 1 small 6" fry pan. Dish soap, scrubbies, dish dry rack....all absent. Dorm size fridge. Not all burners worked, oven did work A challenge making the dinner we planned to cook, glad we had foil and paper products. Food storage...oh boy. Beds were great. Staff was very helpful, even located an additional fry pan for us. Very old (don't usually care) but this needed simple maintenance like paint. Dust bunnies along bed and floor. Shower had crazy pressure until you divert the water to the shower head....it's a trickle. If this place were cheap, it'd be fine for a fast night sleep. Zero value for the kitchen. Won't be back.

Beds were comfortable. Rooms were worn and shabby. Breakfast was unpleasant. For example, they had a toaster, but when asked for bread, was told that guests had to bring their own. 3 yogurts and 6 plastic wrapped muffins was breakfast for the whole hotel and there were no vending machines. AC cycled on and off too loudly for sleep so we had to leave it off. Would not choose this place again.
