Nestled northwest of Des Moines adjacent to a historic and beautiful biking and walk trail. You will be within a short distance from a world class brewery, bars, restaurants and miles of walking and biking trails. We are within a few miles of everything else that Ankeny and the downtown area of Des Moines has to offer!
Other things to note
The property is located one block from the High Trestle Trail, one of the most pristine and highly trafficked trails in Iowa—even at night. The trail’s popularity is largely due to its famous 130-foot-tall High Trestle Bridge, which boasts one of the most well-known rail-trail art installations in the country, From Here to There. Wrapped in 43 twisting, diamond-shaped steel ribs lined with LED lights, the bridge elicits the sensation of traveling down a mine shaft—a nod to the area’s coal-mining history.
In addition to its rich history, Ankeny is also known for its vibrant local art scene, with galleries and studios revealing the work of local artists.
Whether you're interested in history or the arts, Ankeny has something to offer everyone. Ankeny has a fascinating history that dates back to the late 1800s when it was founded as a railroad town.
AUGUST 10 - 20, 2023: The internationally acclaimed Iowa State Fair is the single largest event in the state of Iowa and one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country. Annually attracting more than a million people from all over the world, the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines is Iowa’s great celebration, a salute to the state’s best in agriculture, industry, entertainment and achievement.
The Iowa State Fair, the inspiration for the original novel “State Fair” by Iowan Phil Stong, three motion pictures and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway musical, is without a doubt the country’s most famous state fair.
National media frequently rank the Fair as one of the top events in the country. In 2004, USA Weekend named the event the #2 choice for summer fun in America, topping New York City’s Times Square, Cedar Point Amusement Park Resort in Ohio and Disneyland in California. Midwest Living magazine named the Fair one of the “Top 30 Things Every Midwesterner Should Experience.” The Fair is also included in the New York Times best-selling travel book 1000 Places to See Before You Die and the subsequent travel book, 1,000 Places to See in the U.S.A. and Canada Before you Die.

Excellent place to stay for a few days! We were in the area to visit a college. It was a perfect location. The neighborhood is quite and conveniently located. We had everything we needed for our stay. We would stay there again if we're back in the area.

Well supplied location. Overall very happy with everything. Owners should monitor upkeep on exterior though. Lawn un-mowed for what appeared more than 2 weeks. Garbage was left from several guests previous in proper dumpster’s but not moved to curb for disposal. Smell. Would stay again as it’s a great location.

The property is in a quiet neighborhood and close to shopping. There is a musty smell throughout the home for a person with bad allergies it’s a bit overwhelming. The bathroom is a tight fit for a person. Over all stay was good.

Weekend in Ankeny
It is a dated small home in a lower middle class suburban neighborhood. Outside landscaping and backyard need improvements starting with better lawn care. I will not be coming back to Ankeny,IA. Price and description lead me to believe it was much nicer than actuality

Family trip to drop off youngest
The place was perfect for us and our granddog. We had plenty of room and the enclosed back yard gave Molly a place to run and do her business off a leash.
The communication with the owner was prompt and clear.
We took advantage of being close to the high tratlr trail for a walk and enjoyed two local eateries.
