The Lodge at Angel Fire Resort ★★★

"Online reviews are just like people. Some are wonderful sources of insight and information, while others are just places for those that need to vent, instead of addressing their issues immediately to the resort so that they could possibly work things out for the guest. I must admit, I am a review reader. Our family has skied at locations from Telluride - to mom and pop resorts like Wolf Creek, each having their own characteristics. This year we wanted to make a quick, family ski trip on a budget during Mardi Gras and decided to give Angel Fire Resort a try. I realized after doing my research and reading reviews that this lodge was in the process of updating their rooms. The reviews reflected dated rooms, but the online booking clearly stated updated décor, along with pictures of those rooms. I also read where Joe, the Lodge Manager clearly addressed each concern. For me it was an easy fix, I called and asked to speak to the Lodge Manager directly. He graciously explained their room updating process, so I went ahead at that time and booked my room for 5 days. Something else to keep in mind that this is a PET FRIENDLY resort, and not all guest are responsible pet owners when it comes to resort travel. The resort was prepared for the Mardi Gras revelers. Our room was roomy and exactly what we expected. We enjoyed Starbucks in the coffee house, dinner and music at Legends Grill (Dailey Specials). The slopes restaurants were crowed at lunch on weekends, so we had sandwiches in our room. If crowds are an issue for you, then I would recommend you plan your visit during the week. Slops seem to be less crowded. 80% of employees on the mountain, were very friendly. We rented our ski equipment from Winter Sports. It is just across the street from the lodge. Discounts if you book online. We were so pleased with the Lodge accommodations and staff, we will return next year."
