Nice stay in this wonderful hotel, high quality service from a well trained staff. Furthermore the perfect location in the center of Amarante is amazing, proximity to everything. Also the breakfast is incredible with a wide variety of products mixed between local and european food. Do not hesitate !

We were on a long 3+ week driving trip through Spain and Portugal and were looking for a place for our final stop before heading to Morocco. The Casa da Calcada was a perfect hotel to recharge before our next leg. The hotel is set inside a secluded compound that makes you feel like you have arrived in a special place. The staff greeted us upon arrival and from that point on, they took care of us in every detail. The dining facilities were great (there is a Michelin rated restaurant here!). The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bed was great and the bathroom was excellent. We had high expectations with the Relais & Chateaux brand and Casa da Calcada dit not disappoint. Will return to this hotel on any future stop in Aramante. P.S. The staff even proactively emailed us before our arrival with alternate driving instructions due to some road work near the hotel...that's client service!

Fabulous hotel in a gorgeous building and setting in the lovely town of Amarante. This hotel was excellent in every way and we enjoyed our beautiful room, the delicious breakfasts and lunch, drinks in the bar and out on the terrace as well as the lovely grounds around the pool area. It was too cool to swim but we really enjoyed relaxing by the pool in the sun with a lovely bottle of wine. Attentive and very helpful staff. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Cette vénérable maison, joliment décorée, est très bien située juste en face du pont. On s’y sent bien. Nous n’avons pas pu tester la piscine car la météo ne le permettait pas mais le lieu avait l’air très agréable. Personnel très accueillant, souriant et serviable. L’hôtel était complet et nous avions pu obtenir la dernière chambre. Par contre probablement pas la meilleure (!). Très très sombre avec en plus bien peu de lampes dans la chambre. Donc impossible de l’éclairer suffisamment. C’est comme si c’était la chambre « laissée pour compte ». Une toute petite fenêtre avec vue sur une ruelle sur le côté donc pas de vue; nous étions prévenus c’est vrai, rien à y redire, mais cela n’empêche pas la frustration, quand on sait que la vue sur le Douro est magnifique. Il faisait froid dans la chambre et impossible de régler l’air conditionné : bien que fixé à 30 degrés et sur « heat », il soufflait de l’air froid. Nous avons fini par l’arrêter. Il est vrai que nous ne l’avons pas mentionné à la réception. Peut-être aurions-nous dû. Nous n’avons pas pu tester le restaurant étoilé qui était complet. Pour le reste, tout était parfait. Réception très accueillante et serviable, large choix au buffet du petit déjeuner, avec un accueil chaleureux en salle, literie très confortable, vaste salle de bains (nous regrettons l’absence de douche; c’est moins sympa de se doucher dans la baignoire). Nous deplorons la carte très réduite au bar-restaurant. C’est peut être pour cela qu’il est si peu fréquenté. Dommage, le cadre y est agreable, et le personnel très accueillant et sympathique

This hotel really lived up to its reputation. It’s elegant, wonderful staff, superb rooms (you must book a river view room), and you MUST EAT AT LARGO DO PALCO. Its a Michelin star restaurant, and It’s one of the main reasons we stayed there. We were astounded at the chefs creativity and the incredible flavors he was able to create with each course. AMAZING!!!! Go there for even one day like we did. You won’t be disappointed!!!

We had a delightful stay at this well appointed Relais Chateau hotel and we’re glad to get a table at their Michelin restaurant. The staff were all professional and hospitable. The only downside is departing back to the real world.

Très bon séjour dans cet établissement. Un personnel à la hauteur des étoiles. Ce bâtiment a une vraie histoire. Nous avons pris le temps d'apprécier cet endroit ses alentours et Amarante. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir passer quelques jours de repos.

Fantástica relación calidad precio. Un lujo la situación en amarante. Brutal la puesta en escena del salón del desayuno. Perfectamente decorado. La piscina un poco sombría y algo pequeña pero correcta. Ya solamente al entrar ya sientes que estás llegando q un lugar especial
