The hotel is in a small town, a minute's walk from the attractions we want to visit. It's just that we checked in a little late and it didn't match the room I booked. The room was very small. It can be said that there was no room to put my feet after spreading the suitcases. But the service is still very good. Unlike the booked room type, an extra bed is provided for free. Breakfast was great, typical British atmosphere

Loved this hotel, chosen for convenience to the Castle and Gardens and also for excellent reviews both were perfect. Gorgeous rooms, and beautiful decor and ambience throughout the hotel. Staff were brilliant, courteous, warm and always friendly greetings. Very comfortable lounge area, excellent service for drinks and all meals. Great chefs. The entire small team provide a gold star service. Alnwick is a lovely town and we enjoyed the Castle and Gardens.

Having recently stayed two nights for my daughters wedding I have nothing but praise for the owner Debbie and her staff, nothing I repeat nothing was too much for them ,they made the whole experience fabulous even helping set up at Alnwick gardens for the wedding venue. Yes parking is a slight issue but that's everywhere these days,we found the food excellent, good choice and comfortable suuroudings. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Cookie Jar to people wanting something that little bit special and that's what it is Special. Martyn Fox

Firstly I want to comment on the quality of the hotel. The room was clean, warm, very comfortable and the shower was particularly welcoming with lots of instant hot water. The breakfast was freshly cooked and the food was tasty and of good quality. The staff in the small dining room were exceptional, friendly and keen to help - they are a credit to the hotel and indeed make it difficult to be negative about the hotel. My issue is the pricing. I was initially content to pay £305 for a room that was chosen by the bridal party as a way for guests to gather before the wedding and stay together. Imagine my surprise to find that on any other Thursday in October the cost would have been £205 - so rather than a discount or even normal pricing for being part of a wedding party we were subject to a massive premium on top of the normal pricing structure. So despite a very pleasant environment the trip has left a nasty taste and a feeling of being ripped off.

Visited the hotel yesterday to use vouchers for afternoon tea. Really disappointed as the food was very poor. Egg sandwiches still had shell inside and crust on the bread. The scones were not fresh and there were so many failures we agreed we would not go for dinner. The venue is attempting to attract top end business in Alnwick and although the bedrooms looked nice this effort was a long way off and left us feeling undervalued

What a fabulous place! An ex convent, it is pure class and luxury throughout. Situated right by Alnwick Castle. Owned by the lovely Debbie who was always present for a chat, which made it feel very personal. We stayed in 'The Chapel'. Wow! What a room! The attention to detail is amazing. Gorgeous decor. Beautiful windows. (The tea/coffee tray also had fresh coffee and a cafetiere, with a jar of lovely cookies and some hand made chocolates.) Loved the copper bath and was very impressed by the hair straighteners and curling wand in the wardrobe, very thoughtful! Breakfast was excellent and the scallops and venison were a beautiful dinner. The whole interior is gorgeous! Very blue and white. We can't wait to return and couldn't recommend it more. Well done to Debbie and all your team for such a wonderful product!

The Cookie Jar is a wonderful boutique hotel in a lovely town in Northumbria. The hotel is located on a quiet residential street just steps from Alnwick Castle. It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We stayed in the Alnmouth room and were very happy with it. The linens were great. The bathroom shower was hot and the water pressure was strong. Breakfast was in a garden room and was delicious. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The Cooke jar was a real treat!

This is our second visit to the Cookie Jar and won’t be our last. This time, we took the dinner, bed and breakfast option. Staff were excellent from the lady in reception who upgraded our room and waiting staff who looked after us both for dinner and breakfast. This really does set the standard that all hotels should aspire to. Recommended without hesitation or reservation.
