Coimbra Portagem Hostel

Great hostel with nice view facing the river, clean rooms, great art deco building and best showers I've ever seen in a hostel . Only downside, lacking a kitchen: no cutlery, no sink, no stove. The location is great because it's in city center but could be a little challenging to find for the first time .

No one actually works here, the manger just sends a bunch of texts about how to get into the building, and they also don't actually reply like a human to any questions you have they just "like" your WhatsApp message if its a yes. The worst part though I that they're lying about about the aircon, there's a unit in the rooms but you can't use it and when I asked how to turn it on the manager just never responded and hung up when I called. The place is the sketchiest establishment I have ever stayed in and that is really saying something. There's also a massive heat wave right and the rooms are dangerously hot. This place should be 1/3 of the cost for the "quality" or lack of there's plenty of places that are in the exact same neighborhood with low costs per night. Did I mention the glass in front of the entrance is shattered where someone obviously tried to break in?
