Hampton Inn & Suites Detroit/Allen Park

This was our hotel for a night on baseball bus tour. Nice location and quick check in. The room was clean but had some challenges. We could not figure out how to use TV and when we went to call the phone did not work. The plugs at bedside worked but did not stay plugged in. The high point was the breakfast.

Sadly, this was perhaps the worst hotel experience we've had. After arriving we visited the pool area. There was a huge group of kids there unsupervised while their parents sat outside drinking. The kids broke the pool railing off, and hit multiple guests with a football and tennis ball causing most folks to leave. Our daughter was hit and in tears within minutes. We tried to speak to the parents asking them to come in and supervise, but it resulted in one intoxicated man threatening our family and yelling profanities and name calling front of all the kids present. When the front desk was contacted, their decision was to close the pool leaving us and all of the other groups trying to enjoy the weekend out of luck. We had to change rooms because of the rowdiness of this group and despite changing floors could hear them running the halls for much of the night. We attempted to change hotels to the Holiday Inn next door as my wife and daughter were afraid of encountering this group again, but they were full. The next morning we went down for breakfast to find a hotel staff in tears after the same group had sprayed whipped cream all over and thrown glasses of juice on the floor. We were told to contact the hotel manager, Alisa, to receive a refund due to the issues, but after attempting to reach her at the information on her card multiple times, no reply was received. Staff did nothing to help us on site and the only option was to contact the manager later, and no response was received. We will never stay here again, and you should avoid at all costs as no matter what happens, you will not get help from this hotel.

Another great stay! The lady that helps with breakfast is so amazing! She is very pleasant and friendly (sorry I did not get her name but she has been there each time I stayed here and it makes a difference to my morning). The breakfast is a good selection, I love the no contact features (mobile key, checkin, checkout, texting staff). The location is perfect and it was affordable. The only thing missing is the Hilton member perks (other locations have water and snacks when you checkin or in the room for members).

Hampton Inns are our go to for family stays. Nothing fancy, but always clean, comfortable, safe with a breakfast the kids are excited for. This location lived up to our expectations.
