Algoma Beach Motel

The pillows were great giving our best sleep of our trip. The lake views were great with a balcony and chairs to enjoy our breakfast as well as sit and listen to the waves in the evening. Try rates directly with the hotel. No carpeting which is great and got clean towels the 2nd day as requested.

First and foremost, I was told NO PETS. So I boarded my dog. Someone else brought their dog-thats when I found out you could bring your pet. 🤬 I was even emailed and told ‘no dogs allowed’. The toilet was not secured to the floor. It literally wobbled. No towel bar as it appeared someone ripped it off the wall. The bathroom floor was not clean. Sand in the corners. The microwave didn’t work. Only two of the four slots on the toaster worked. The beds are atrocious!!! Towel supply for two people was chincy and our room was really small to house two queen beds, a kitchenette and a table and chairs. Oh and we had to clean out the fridge BEFORE we could put our stuff in!! Room 114. I will say, I paid (altogether) about $200 a night for the water. Lake Michigan is so pretty. Going to sleep with the waves crashing right outside is music to my soul. It IS HAZARDOUS tho, to try to get down to the beach. Sharp rocks, no real paths, definitely no steps. And the LAKE FLIES! They left the lights on so they were everywhere. I came back here (we stayed in 2021) and it was lovely….I won’t be back again.

This place is a perfect get away to relax and enjoy a hotel with beachfront access. It is an affordable price to relax and hear the sound of waves throughout the night. If your an early riser the sun coming up over Lake Michigan is a beautiful sight. My wife and I love this place.

We stay at this motel every year in September. We love that it's right on Lake Michigan with firepits available. Rooms are very clean and staff are amiable. Winery and brewery are nearby and don't miss going to Skaliwags for dinner.

There was never anyone at the desk whenever you needed someone you had to call. We asked them to give is a do not disturb sign because our room did not have one. We asked for extra soap and towels. The only thing we got were towels. If you have a room close to a door bugs will come in through that door and then into your room at night. When you wake up in the morning your room is filled with them by the bathroom. This is all dependent on how much other guest use that door. The room was outdated and the beds were very hard. The best thing about it is that it has a great place along lake Michigan to watch the sunrise. The cost of my room was to much because basic hotel goods were nonexistent. When people leave things in the room it is shoved in the dresser. So I found narcan in the room a so many brochures that really should have been thrown because of the state they were in. No alarm clock or clock in rooms. Breakfast was brought out late and was just packaged muffins. The room is very dirty and I am sure people before us were drug users. Never did I see staff there unless I called them. You get charged for room keys if they don't see two of them returned. When I wanted to check out nobody answered phone.

Me and my husband stayed here from Thursday to Monday. It was very expensive $198.00 night...we have stayed at less expensive places and far better accommodations. The rooms are outdated. Nice to be on the beach, but that was about it. We had room 116 and we had a little 2 burner stove (kind of like hotplates). The mini fridge froze all the items in there as the knob does not have a regulator where you can see what dial it should be on. The person above us walked, walked and walked until2 -3 am every night we were there and it was very loud!!! Definitely not the place we would stay again unless it was in another room where no one was above us and we were hard up for a place to stay as it was not anything to brag about unfortunately.!

We were warned not to open the windows because of the lake flies, so we didn't. We only needed a place to sleep and wash up, and this older place worked out just fine and was cost-friendly. The front desk isn't manned 24/7, and they called us upon reservation to be sure we would be arriving before they closed for the night - so no problems there. No complaints!
