Where I needed it to be on my way from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. Absolutely clean. Another reviewer was right, the pillows and bed was fantastic. Don't know that I even turned over while I slept for nine hours through the night. The room had everything I needed. I liked it so much I extended my stay! My only regret was that their restaurant hadn't opened for the season yet.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT My husband and I stayed from the 8th till the 14th of October for our anniversary getaway. Everything from check in to check out was FANTASTIC! BOUTIQUE MOTEL/RESTAURANT/BAR This quaint Boutique Motel had beautiful spacious and very clean rooms with a beautiful view of the mountains/rock formations across the street. To our complete surprise we found a mini fridge/freezer (lots of room for leftovers from the restaurant on site) microwave oven, Keurig machine with Tim Hortons coffee, mugs and all the fixings for a coffee anytime. OH MY GOODNESS the beds were to die for!!!! They were so comfortable and toasty warm covered with a down duvet and spare blanket at the end of the bed. (We didn’t need that spare blanket) There was a T.V. with Netflix as well as free WIFI throughout the Motel and Restaurant. The meals from the restaurant were delicious with enormous portions with great prices. After each meal we needed to get containers for our leftovers due to the large portions.(thank goodness for the mini fridge in the rooms) With our meals we had the chance to try the local craft brewery selection of draft beers, Hound Town, Northern Superior, Gitche Gumee and my favorite Northern 11pm. They were so good that my husband and I went to the brewery itself to purchase cases of beer to bring home with us. CUSTOMER SERVICE The customer service we received was out of this world!!! During our stay the owners asked us daily if there was anything we needed or if there was any issues with the room. If there was something needed it was received. We were asked to join the owners for their Thanksgiving dinner, which was absolutely delicious and very good conversation with down to earth great people!!! Chris and I thank you a million times over for helping making our Anniversary a memorable celebration for us both and we will definitely be coming back to for another vacation!! Thank you from Jackie and Chris from Niagara

Sandy, Dan, and June who left 1 star reviews must’ve had sticks up their you-know-whats, because there was absolutely nothing wrong with our stay! We were genuinely impressed with how nice the rooms were.. perfectly clean, smelled great, soft linens, super comfortable beds, nicely decorated. Honestly, what more could you ask for? The owner was helpful, attentive, and quick to respond when needed. You can tell they actually care about the place and their guests. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed that day, but everything else more than made up for it. Hands down the best motel I’ve stayed in!

I stayed at this motel with a group and was extremely disappointed with both the service and professionalism of the owners. While we understood that housekeeping was not included because we were all staying for an extended period of time, after three days I requested a fresh set of sheets so I could change them myself. Rather than being met with a reasonable response, I was dismissed and yelled at by the owners, which was both unprofessional and upsetting. I was not the only one treated this way—other members of our group had the same experience and were also yelled at or even threatened because someone dirtied towels. The owners charged the guest because the towel was dirty. This created a hostile and unwelcoming environment for everyone in our group. Although the rooms appeared recently renovated and looked presentable at first, the bath tubs were stained and the towels were not properly washed before being placed in the rooms, leaving fuzz all over our skin after use.

We had a truly awful experience at McCauley’s Motel on the night of our wedding. The new owners treated us terribly. The morning after, we were screamed at to get out of the room because we were “late,” even though the microwave clock in the room was 2 hours behind (and we were told they unplug them daily, so the time isn’t accurate). Since it was our wedding night, neither of us had our phones with us, so we had no way of knowing the correct time. Instead of understanding, we were met with yelling, insults, and even a man holding a Rottweiler on a leash telling us “it’s not all about you” and demanding that we leave immediately. We were also told we should “leave the cleaning staff money for being late.” On what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives, we were treated with hostility and disrespect. No guest deserves this treatment. I strongly recommend avoiding this place and hope no one else has to go through what we did.

A hidden gem! We were travelling without reservations and were recommended to check and see if they had any availability and are we ever glad we did! The rooms are all updated, with fridge and microwave, there is a beach across the street and the owners are amazing. I'm sorry we only had one night to stay!

Stay was pleasant but facilities are old and outdated. No air conditioning and bathroom very small and in need of update for fixtures. New owners so I expect improvements coming. Owners operate motel and restaurant and food and conversation was fantastic.

Room was clean and spacious. Small bathroom. Nothing much around but Pancake Bay fairly close for beautiful beach and nature hiking trail.
