"Nice hotel"
Hotel Kabalana
"It was terrible! I feel so sorry for this hotel, because whoever owns it has clearly given it a lot of grief... The hotel itself is in a great location, right on the beach, with a wonderful view. This building could have been a great place to relax and stay, but alas. We arrived on the southern coast of Sri Lanka late in the evening and decided to spend the night somewhere, and then choose a place for a longer stay in daylight. We chose this hotel because we wanted to stay right on the beach. 1) When we entered the hotel, the first thing we noticed was the dirty glass partitions between the reception and the pool area. Yes, it's clear the hotel isn't exactly new, but it could have been kept clean. 2) When we went up to our room, I immediately noticed mouse droppings on the sofa, furniture, and floor, so we asked for cleaning. The cleaning consisted of a guy coming in, sweeping the floor, and then randomly waving a dry cloth over the surface. There was no strength to complain and we didn’t say anything 3) the bed linen consisted of different parts, i.e. one pillowcase from one, the second from another, the sheet from a third, the duvet cover from a fourth. And the linen was also very dirty, stained and dusty. I lay down in the middle of the bed and tried not to move all night, because there was a thick layer of dust and dirt around the perimeter of the bed 4) the whole bathroom was moldy, the shower, the sink, the faucet 5) some small bugs were crawling in the bathroom 6) my husband looked into the cabinets in the bathroom and warned me not to even think about opening them, so as not to be scared by the dirt 7) there was no hot water in the bathroom!)) I couldn’t take a shower after a long journey and my husband and I laughed that the bed was dirtier and I wouldn’t dirty it 8) and the icing on the cake was that either rats or mice were running around our room all night long. My husband woke up because they were running through our things and bags, chewing up a packet of cookies, and scurrying about all night. We woke up at 6 a.m. and literally fled that horrible place. I'll also mention the old furniture in the rooms and that we were overcharged by about 1,800 rubles for the night, which we realized as soon as we got up to our room. We wanted to sort it out in the morning, but in the morning all we wanted to do was run as far away as possible."
Wake N Flow, Ahangama - Kabalana Beach
"You won't find another secluded, quiet place like this in Sri Lanka. Well done, guys!"
Villa Alba - Ahangama
"We spent an unforgettable week at Villa Alba and honestly didn’t want to leave. Waking up to the sounds of birds and watching peacocks casually strut past the pool was surreal—living in luxury surrounded by nature. Squirrels darted through the trees, exotic birds flitted past our balcony, and the occasional curious peacock even stopped by to admire its reflection in the pool. There has been a lot of work and care in designing beautiful gardens where Villa Alba grows its own pineapples, jackfruit and chillis. An excellent place to take a yoga class with the Yogi. The food deserves its own standing ovation. The traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts were something special—hoppers, curries, and tropical fruits that made each morning feel like a celebration. And for our kids? The in-house chefs delivered amazing Western dishes that had them smiling every mealtime (and asking for seconds). Every dish was fresh, vibrant, and clearly made with love. The villa itself is beautiful—open, airy, and perfectly nestled in the lush landscape. It’s serene and stylish without being fussy, and the staff were exceptional—always on hand but never intrusive, anticipating needs before we even voiced them. Villa Alba is that rare blend of wild and wonderful, where five-star comfort meets beautiful, lush, natural surroundings. We will definitely be returning to Villa Alba in the future."
Dreamsea Surf Camp Sri Lanka
Kahaii Surf hotel
"Had an amazing stay at Kahaai Surf Hotel 🌊✨ The place had such a relaxing vibe, great atmosphere, and really friendly staff. A special thank you to Imalka for the excellent service and kindness throughout our stay. He made sure everything was comfortable and went above and beyond to make our experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a chill and enjoyable getaway. Will definitely visit again! 😊"
Palm Garden Ayurveda Resort Ahangama
"We arrived at Palm Garden in mid-May, which is the end of the high season in southwestern Sri Lanka, so the hotel was relatively quiet and uncrowded. The rooms are clean and spacious, with high ceilings and a pleasant view of the pool. The grounds are green, well-maintained, and very atmospheric. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. The breakfasts are also quite good by local standards. The sea is a bit far—about a 15-20-minute walk or about a 5-minute tuk-tuk ride—but otherwise, everything was great."

The Sandhya
"A great stay, absolutely gorgeous hotel - perfect, friendly and attentive service, small hotel so felt very safe, familiar and luxurious. Delicious food, excellent location to get to Ahangama by 5min TukTuk and be directly on a wide sandy and long (enough) beach with lots of surfers, without the actual beach being packed full of people so was calm but bustling. Would highly recommend."
Harding Boutique Hotel
"My husband and I celebrated part of our Honeymoon here at the hotel. Its decor & interior was very tastefully done. Food & Cocktails were fab 👌 esp sitting on the rooftop bar at sunset watching the surfers and having a lovely breeze (unlike many of the other places with the humidity) the Staff were so friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely be back we almost felt sad leaving. Stunning hotel."
Garton's Cape
"Horrible hotel! Sea water comes inside, the room , elevator not working, no plug points to charge, no buffet food , horrible breakfast , slippery floors, poor hygiene. They need to get their act together and improve their hotel before taking their customers."
The Coastal Village Cabanas
"Was really nice had a good time food was great and enjoyed my time there recommended."
Kahanda Kanda
"Beautifully designed property, great service, especially the housekeeping team."
Sri Lankan Villa
"I spent the Spring Festival 2025 with a friend. The location of the hotel is quite good, very close to the beach, close to the Gaochun fishing spot, and many people surf nearby. Next to it is Kataluwa Railway Station. If you are optimistic about the time, take the train to Galle. Colompo is very convenient. I personally feel very satisfied."
