Preston House

We just returned from a magic overnight stay in The Preston Abbeyleix ... what a beautiful period establishment, so cozy, warm and inviting. We received the friendliest welcome from the owner Ross, and his lovely housekeeper Tanya. Our spacious ensuite room was called 'the heritage' really quiet at the back of the guesthouse (only noise we heard was the sweetest dawn chorus at daybreak) 🐦‍⬛ Abbeyleix is a gem of a heritage town, be sure to visit the olde world pub Morrissey's for the creamiest pint of Guinness, and sample some of the lovely foods on offer in the various restaurants. Looking forward already to a return stay at The Preston ❤️

We stayed here for my dad’s 70th birthday and it was just perfect. It is beautiful decorated and so comfortable and spacious. All bedrooms were huge with very comfortable mattresses pillows and duvets. The kitchen was equipped with all essentials. The main living area had two huge tables to accommodate everyone and a gorgeous bar which we decorated. There are multiple other living rooms all beautifully decorated and fires in 2 rooms that we could light with wood provided. We had kids from 7 months to 6 years and they loved the space to run around and play. The house looks very luxurious but was very safe for them. We were afraid they would brake something but it was set up so there wasn’t stuff at there level they could break. The location is great with a supermarket, chipper, pubs, restaurant, playground in walking distance. We are thinking of staying again for my our next family occasion. Everyone enjoyed it so much and would love to return. Communication with the host was very easy with fast response and so helpful. They even let us check in early to set up decorations. The house is huge but the hosts had it so well heated it felt nice and cosy.

Preston House has a charm all of its own. From the moment you step inside the door, there is a lovely atmosphere, and a definite feeling of this is a "step back in time." The furniture, drapes, and accessories are in keeping with the timelessness of the house. Ross & Tanya were warm and welcoming. Juno was a star. The Pembroke Suite was lovely and after a long journey that day I slept really well with beautiful warn bed linen and fluffy pillows. The Christmas tree had only been put up and the fire was ready to be lit later on in the day. Thank you for your hospitality Ross....Preston House is a hop & skip from Dublin. There is a bus service to Dublin outside the door virtually. The next time I have to go to Dublin on a shopping trip Preston House will be my stop over!
