Understanding the Taipei Main Station Map

Taipei Main Station is not just one building. It is a large transport complex made up of several stations, underground passages, malls and bus terminals.

Main Taipei Station Building

Main Taipei Station Building

The main station building contains the Taiwan Railways and Taiwan High Speed Rail ticketing areas, waiting areas, platforms, restaurants and shops.

The large central hall is on the ground floor. Taiwan Railways and THSR trains operate from underground platforms beneath the station.

Taipei Metro Station

Taipei Metro Station

Taipei Main Station is served by two Taipei Metro lines:

  • Tamsui-Xinyi Line, Red Line, station code R10
  • Bannan Line, Blue Line, station code BL12

The Taipei Metro area is connected to the main railway building through underground passages. Follow the red or blue line signs instead of following only the words “Taipei Main Station.”

Taoyuan Airport MRT A1 Station

Taoyuan Airport MRT A1 Station

The Taoyuan Airport MRT uses a separate station called A1 Taipei Main Station. It is located west of the main railway building and is connected through an underground walkway.

Allow around 10 to 15 minutes when walking between the main station and Airport MRT A1, especially when carrying luggage.

Taipei Bus Station

Taipei Bus Station

Taipei Bus Station is located north of the main railway building, beside Q Square. It serves intercity buses travelling to destinations outside central Taipei.

Check your bus company, floor and boarding platform carefully because different operators may use different areas.

Underground Shopping Areas

Underground Shopping Areas

Several underground shopping streets connect to Taipei Main Station:

  • Taipei City Mall, Y Zone
  • Station Front Metro Mall, Z Zone
  • Zhongshan Metro Mall, R Zone
  • K Underground Mall, K Zone

Each underground mall uses its own letter and exit number. Taipei City Mall uses yellow Y signs, while Station Front Metro Mall uses Z signs.

The Howard Plaza Hotel has an excellent location, very close to Daan Forest Park and Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station. The surrounding area has a full range of amenities and is very safe. The staff are attentive and friendly. As an older hotel, the facilities are a bit dated, and the room decor has a classic, slightly old-fashioned feel, but all of this is perfectly acceptable. The only downside was that the room number sign on my floor (I think it was the 6th floor, facing Ren'ai Road) seemed to be incorrect, directing me in the wrong direction from the elevator. I walked all the way to the end of the hall and couldn't find my room, so I had to turn back and eventually found it in the opposite direction. It was a bit frustrating. I hope they can fix that sign.

The front desk service was exceptionally good. They noticed my child was quite tall and worried the bed in our booked room might not be comfortable, so they upgraded our room and even provided a complimentary children's breakfast. I was really touched, and it left a fantastic impression of the hotel. Although the hotel stay was a bit over our budget, the service we received was worth several times the room rate, making it incredibly good value for money. My child has already decided they want to stay here again on our next trip!

During our stay, it rained heavily, and the hotel staff were incredibly helpful. We were able to borrow umbrellas without any deposit or paperwork, and they also lent us a dehumidifier to help dry our wet clothes. These small touches made our stay much more comfortable and showed the excellent level of service. Overall, Caesar Metro Taipei offers excellent value, a fantastic location, spacious facilities, and friendly service. It is an ideal choice for families and travellers looking for a comfortable base to explore Taipei and beyond.

It is one of the iconic hotels in Taipei with magnificent structure and views. However on the day of our check in, there was a kindergarteners graduation party. With 100+ children running and screaming in the lobby area makes me feel like I am in a fish market not an upscale hotel. If the Libby manager or Conceirge can step in to control the crowd, it would have been a better experience for me . The buffet restaurant has extensive selection of food and they all tasted great. The musicians at the lobby performed well during my stay and it wasa pleasure sitting in the lobby to enjoy the music. The secret pathways are pleasant surprises. But the tours are not for people with walking issues since participants needs to walk down 70+ steps to get a full view of the secret pathways. I highly recommend staying here.

The service was pretty good; I didn't touch my luggage after getting out of the car. However, I didn't have many needs or encounter much service to begin with. There were a lot of Japanese staff members... both times I checked in and out, they were Japanese women, and I struggled to understand their Chinese. Maybe they should stick to speaking Japanese... The room was a bit old but perfectly fine, standard for a five-star hotel. Two large brass keys offered the ultimate vintage experience. They're still practicing 'eco-friendliness' by shifting costs to guests, providing a sanitary bag which was genuinely inconvenient since I was on my period. The bathtub wasn't great; at 1.72m, I just barely fit in, it wasn't spacious at all, and it only had one faucet, no adjustment. No slippers or disposables, but I loved the scent of the three bath products. The welcome fruit was a bit of a joke; the welcome pastries, however, surprised me at first, coming in such a large wooden box. But then I thought, how is this different from being handed a random pile of wedding candies? I couldn't eat it all anyway. It was annoying that there wasn't a three-pin socket by the bed to charge my phone's dual Type-C ports; only the desk had two, one 110V and one 220V. Directly opposite the window was just a regular vintage residential building, but there was a distant view of Taipei 101, which was a pleasant surprise. The public areas exuded old money charm... The underground Regent Galleria is a high-end mall... I'd never seen one inside a hotel before, quite an experience. There were also many dessert shops. For me, zero appeal, zero shopping capability. The design of the restaurant or banquet hall near the lobby was a bit poor, with many steps and no accessibility facilities, still very vintage. There was a piano and cello performance in the pool at the bottom of the building in the evening. P12-15 The good reviews for this place really come down to nostalgia and food, I guess. I hadn't booked breakfast, but after seeing so many positive reviews, I quickly added it. It was $968 per person. Open from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, with the last seating at 9:30 AM. I went at 9 AM, and it was mostly full, so it's clearly very popular. The variety was indeed rich, with many ********* specialties, and the taste was decent, though not amazing. Apart from the service and breakfast being standard, my personal experience felt more like 4.5 stars.

I especially enjoyed the nearby old food stalls selling egg pancake, delicious toast bread, soya bean milk, and milk tea. Ximending Night Market is walkable from the hotel, which is a big plus. The location of this hotel is perfect, situated right next to 101. A short walk across the footbridge and you have access to a number of restaurants and food court. The room itself is sufficient but a bit old and dated. The lobby is big and full of people, almost like a tourist attraction. With the doors constantly opening and closing, any cold air tends to escaping resulting in quite a warm and uncomfortable lobby.

Location: Super central, just a 5-minute walk straight from Exit 1 of Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station on the Bannan Line. It's right next to Huashan 1914 Creative Park, and getting to Taipei Main Station, Daan District, or Ximending is incredibly quick. Environment: The room was very clean. Although there was no window to the outside, there were many dehumidifiers in the hallway, so it didn't feel damp at all. Service: From the front desk staff to the housekeeping team, everyone was very professional and met our various needs with a smile. The ground floor also offered complimentary vintage snacks (biscuits and candies) for guests. Breakfast: Decent, though not outstanding. There wasn't a huge variety, but it was still filling. Soundproofing: This was the only downside to my stay. I'm not sure if it was an issue with the walls or the door, but the soundproofing was very poor. While I couldn't hear specific activities from adjacent or opposite rooms, I could clearly hear people walking in the hallway late at night or staff cleaning in the morning. This would be very disruptive for light sleepers, so those who require a very quiet environment might want to be aware of this potential issue.

We just returned to the Philippines after a wonderful 10-day stay at Finders Hotel Qufian, and we truly couldn’t be happier with our experience. We came in not expecting much, but this hotel completely exceeded our expectations. The staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and made both check-in and check-out smooth and easy. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. We absolutely loved the ambience of the hotel, everything was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, especially for families. Traveling with a child can sometimes be challenging, but this place had everything we needed. The kids’ playroom was a highlight, our daughter loved it so much and genuinely enjoyed every moment of our stay. The room, while not very large, was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The temperature and heating were just right, making it very relaxing after long days of exploring. The bed is more of a typical Asian-style mattress (not super soft), but it was perfectly fine for us and didn’t affect our comfort. Breakfast was consistently excellent. We especially enjoyed the Chinese cuisine selection, and the unlimited beverages, coffee, snacks, and even noodles were such a thoughtful touch, perfect for those late-night cravings! The WiFi was fast and reliable, which was important for me as I had online meetings and even did some Netflix streaming without any issues. Location-wise, it’s fantastic, close to many of Taipei’s must-see attractions like Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Taiwan Museum, and 228 Peace Memorial Park (which we absolutely loved). It’s also conveniently near NTU Hospital Station, making it easy to get around the city. This is a hotel I would highly recommend, especially for families traveling with kids. In fact, I’ve already recommended it to friends! We will definitely be booking here again on our next trip to Taiwan.

Close to Ximen Station, just a 2-minute walk from exits X5/X6, which is super convenient! 👍 However, the bathroom drainage wasn't great; after three people showered, the water overflowed. 👎 The mattress was comfortable with no sagging, 👍 and the hotel also provides free instant noodles, sandwiches, and drinks. 👍 The water pressure was excellent, which is a big plus! 👍 But the pipes were very noisy; you could clearly hear them from rooms above, below, and next to us. 👎 Since it's designed in an industrial style, the ceiling has many holes, and when lying down, I noticed a lot of dust looking up. You just have to accept it…

The location is wonderful, just right above Taipei Metro Station. Their service is the best, my check-in was delayed due to room is not ready but they extend my check out time as compensation. Even the room have no window but the air is still fresh, no odour at all, my family are very sensitive to smell but we all agree this is a comfortable stay. Water dispenser and fridge are provided, towels will be changed daily during house keeping and is more than enough.

This branch of Roaders Plus Hotel - Theme, located near Taipei Main Station, is absolutely perfect for families! The most impressive part is the public area, which features a whimsical carousel and a kids' play zone. The warm, soft pink tones and relaxing atmosphere truly make it a dreamland for children. Our 2-year-old had an amazing time burning off energy there. The hotel's location is excellent; you can reach the MRT station just by crossing the street, which is incredibly convenient and easy for parents with strollers. The room was clean and tidy, with expansive views from the higher floors. The hand-drawn and American vintage-style illustrations were also quite eye-catching. While the soundproofing could use a bit of improvement, the overall service was attentive and the value for money is exceptional. This is definitely a top choice for families visiting Taipei, especially those looking for a blend of parent-child friendliness and a touch of artistic flair. Highly recommended to all parents!

Wellness descends upon arrival at this hotel. I must say we were blown away - by the design and experience. This was an excellent hotel and environment and one of the best stays in Taipei our family had. There is welcome snacks and drinks and a very serene peaceful space in every corner of the hotel. We enjoyed the quiet ambience and respectful service by the various staff. The in-room onsen bath is a highlight of the stay. And the beds (we had a large king) was simply divine. The mattress topper was superb, firm and yet supportive and comfortable. The variety of pillows available made our sleep sweet. I have to commend the quality of bedding - it is excellent! The decor and room is elegantly well-designed with thoughtful details, we appreciated it so much. I would definitely come back to Beitou again just to stay here again! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

The location of the Hotel isn't that convenient to go to, so it's recommend to look at their shuttle bus timing or simply book an Uber to ride up the hill. Each room that you book also comes with a 1x free visit to the outdoor Spa facilities so I highly suggest you to bring a swim wear to go as it's pretty good even at night time. As for the room it's spacious like other reviews photos have shown but not a lot of people have shown the bathroom/toilet so I'm including it here. It's a very spacious Toilet with the bathtub that has the Onsen water, and the shower head beside the bathtub.

I have a special soft spot for this place! I've visited five times within a year, and each time there's been a small improvement. This time, the tall, slender, handsome guy at reception told me we could use the public hot spring twice a day, and I finally got to try the mango pudding and milk jelly I'd only ever seen before! That really changed my mind for the better. And for breakfast, they even had a fresh-ground coffee machine – that was a pleasant surprise! However, this was probably the smallest room I've stayed in during all my visits. But there's a good chance I'll be back for a sixth time this year...

If you're looking for an awesome hot springs hotel, this could be a one. One it's a bit older and not super foreigner friendly. But if you speak some simple Chinese or you're willing to use a translator app, this place is pretty dang cool. You'll find locals who have memberships at the Hot springs there. The outdoor Hot spring is really cool and the water is 100% real Hot spring water so it's got that sulfur smell. I recommend getting a room with your own hot spring. This way, no matter what day you arrive, if there's anything about the hours not working at the public hot spring, you still have the opportunity to enjoy it. It's no five star brand new Hilton inn. But it's comfortable, sanitary and has a nice homey vibe. If you're staying for more then one day, I recommend that you tried the the local markets for a breakfast one day. The hotel breakfast is satisfactory. You'll see some buns, some rice, soy milk, a few vegetable options, some sausages, and a little bit of Western food. Very simple and gets the job one if you're not in the mood to explore. I came alone and I felt safe in a really enjoyed my time. I recommend you hike some of the local trails. There is some pretty epic hiking in this area. Don't be afraid to explore!!!

When I checked in, the front desk noticed it was my birthday month. Even though my birthday had passed two weeks prior, they still wished me a happy birthday and gave me a birthday gift for the month, which was incredibly thoughtful. My stay was just before Christmas, and the hotel had some lovely Christmas decorations that really added to the festive atmosphere. Enjoyed our stay at Miramar - room was clean and big with most facilities we needed (toiletries not provided due to them being more sustainable but was told you can purchase/request from front desk); the shampoo, bath soap and conditioner provided was one of the best I’ve tried for hotels. The gym although felt a bit cramped was decently equipped (had a smith machine too) and while I didn’t use it, there was an onsen bath as well with good facilities and 2 separate pools. Buffet breakfast had a good range of cuisines, a noodle/omelette station that’s made to order; especially enjoyed the variations in some of the dishes provided across the days. I didn’t mind the 10 minute walk away from the nearest mrt station much and liked that there was also a free entry to the art museum directly opposite from the hotel as well.

The room facilities are outdated. The sofa was completely unusable due to a large sag in the middle. The towels looked dirty and old, and the slippers were paper-thin. I can't believe the hotel provides such low-quality items to guests – it's really bad! Luckily, the bed was decent and the shower had good water pressure. Is this a good hotel? Yes, but it's also lacking in many aspects. It leaves a bad impression on returning guests. My last stay was a very unpleasant experience, and I believe most guests wouldn't return a second time, but I'm a loyal customer and a member. Last time, the housekeeping supervisor sincerely apologized, followed up multiple times, and promised to earn my trust, asking for another chance. That's why I stayed here again. ”Today's sword doesn't slay yesterday's man” – the room upgrade or suite promised by the previous supervisor, Ms. Chen, was naturally nonexistent (I later found out she had already left). Even the welcome fruit, welcome drink, and complimentary gift that were previously offered were all omitted. The treatment was worse than my first stay. Turndown service wasn't provided, making me wonder if I was at an economy hotel. At least I'm a senior member of this group, not the highest tier, but I feel misled. Even if the guest booked a standard room this time, the treatment shouldn't be so drastically different from the previous suite stay. This hotel seems dedicated to transforming itself into an economy hotel. For example, they don't provide toothbrushes, bath salts, or mouthwash. The room decorations are paper flowers. Their official app offered an option to request a toothbrush. I clicked it in the afternoon and received a system confirmation, but it was never delivered to my room, nor was I informed by phone that they couldn't provide it. After searching the entire room in the middle of the night and finding none, I finally learned they don't provide toothbrushes. One phrase stuck with me: ”You won't find a single toothbrush in any hotel in Taipei right now.” After checking out here, I went to Villa 32, and they provided one proactively without any excuses. When I called their on-duty staff to inquire, all I received were endless complaints about their mayor and policies. When I mentioned my vocal cords were damaged and I couldn't talk on the phone for long, he interrupted me and continued to ramble on. They seem to lack a complete management system and service process. I called in the afternoon to request two tea bags, but they weren't delivered that day. The next morning, I called again, and they said ”shortly,” but the service was never completed by check-out time. I mentioned this incident when I stored my luggage at the concierge, and they confidently told me they would give me the tea bags when I picked up my luggage. Predictably, their promise remained empty. They shouldn't have promised anything at all. There probably won't be a next time. Because this time was even worse than the last.

Toilet/shower was shared but extremely clean and tidy as seen in the photos, where the use was restricted to 10 guests from the single room. During my stay, I only ever encountered another guest using the bathroom. Bed was comfortable and pillow was firm enough (some hotels use cheap pillows which have 0 head support) to provide a good night's sleep. The location of the hotel was excellent as well, situated between 2 metro stations (Zhongxiao Dun Hua and Zhongxiao Fu Xing), with a direct entrance right at the entrance which leads into the underground mall which links to both metro stations. There is also a carrefour, family mart and 24hr McDonald's nearby. Overall this is excellent value for money at S$44 per night, will definitely stay here again in Taipei when I return.

We couldn’t find one in the bedroom/sleep quarters (Japanese tatami). So make sure to bring a portable charger if you don’t want to be away from your phone. Another advice would be more of a treat if they provided a face mask and sleep wear. The reason I’d suggest this is because another competitor hotel of theirs provided very considerate toiletries for the ladies and I think that was a HUGE plus for me considering we spent a lot of money for one night. We stayed at East Dragon Hotel from 27–30 May and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in a fantastic location. Ximending is just a few minutes’ walk away, which made it easy to explore the area, shop, and enjoy the local atmosphere. There are so many food options nearby—from street food and local restaurants to cafes and bubble tea shops. We never had to go far to find something delicious to eat. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the MRT station is within walking distance, making it convenient to travel around Taipei. Overall, a great place to stay if you’re looking for a clean hotel in the heart of Taipei. We would happily stay here again!

It was my first time in Taipei, and the front desk staff upgraded our room to one with a 101 view (don't be shy about asking, they'll do their best to accommodate you!). The service was excellent; someone always opened the door for us when we entered. The room was very clean and odorless, and the bed was large and comfortable. It took me until the third night to realize it was actually two beds pushed together 😂. I have no idea where they got the duvet, but it was 2 meters long and incredibly cozy! The hotel is very close to the subway station and not far from attractions. I specifically chose the option without breakfast because I can never wake up early enough. When we checked in, there was a small Coke and a Pocari Sweat that were complimentary! At 900 RMB per night, it's a good price for this location. If I come to Taipei again, I'll definitely choose this hotel.

This is such a wonderful hotel, we came with a baby, the hotel staff are all super friendly, helpful and making us feel warmth and being welcomed. Helping us in daily details like booking taxi, carrying stroller up the stairs, bringing luggages to the room. Good price for such spacious room, delicious breakfast and good location, just 5min walk to MRT and nearby eateries and convenient stores, will definitely come back again

Zhongxiao Dunhua Commercial Area Taipei|0.42km from city center
The hotel's location is reasonably convenient, about an 8-minute walk from the MRT. The facilities feel a bit old, but the service is good. The staff are polite and will help carry luggage to the room. Afternoon tea and hand warmers are provided. The room is spacious. I stayed on the 5th floor; it had a window but no view, as it was right next to the adjacent building's wall. The breakfast area is comfortable, and the quality of the buffet breakfast food is acceptable.

Taipei Railway Station Area Taipei|3.03km from city center
A great experience: 1. **Location:** Right near Taipei Main Station. After taking the Taoyuan Airport MRT to Taipei Main Station, you exit near Y13, which leads to Taiyuan Street. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from there. 2. **Facilities:** The bathroom has a bathtub, the toilet has a bidet function, and the room includes a refrigerator. Basically, all essential facilities are available. 3. **Cleanliness:** The room was cleaned daily and kept tidy. 4. **Environment:** Very quiet. You can't hear street noise, and there's very little noise from within the building. 5. **Service:** The front desk staff were kind and friendly, providing a local map and answering guest questions enthusiastically and professionally. Truly excellent.

Check the Transport Operator

Taipei Main Station serves several different transport companies. Look for the correct logo:

  • Taipei Metro
  • Taiwan Railways or TRA
  • Taiwan High Speed Rail or THSR
  • Taoyuan Airport MRT
  • Taipei Bus Station

Check the Exit Letter

M5, Y5 and Z5 are three different exits. Always check both the letter and number before walking towards an exit.

Allow Enough Transfer Time

THSR and reserved TRA services may require separate tickets.

Save Your Destination in Chinese

Save the Chinese name and address of your hotel or destination. This can help when asking station staff, taxi drivers or local residents for directions.

Download an Offline Map

The underground complex can affect mobile reception in some areas. Save a screenshot of the station map, exit number and hotel address before arriving.

Book Long-Distance Trains Early

Reserve popular THSR and TRA trains early during weekends, holidays and festival periods. Trains to Hualien, Taitung, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung may become busy.

Use the Information Counters

Information counters are available in the Taipei Metro, main railway station and Airport MRT areas. Ask staff for help when you cannot find your platform, exit or connecting station.
