Singapore is a popular getaway for many Filipinos, offering a nice mix of modern city life and cultural charm. You can explore famous spots like Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, and Universal Studios, or take a slower walk through Chinatown and Little India, where you’ll feel more of the city’s traditional side. Everything is easy to reach with their clean and simple transport system, which makes moving around stress-free even for first-time visitors.

For food lovers, Singapore is like a big food trip. Hawker centres serve affordable and tasty meals like Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, and satay—perfect for Pinoy taste buds. Shopping is also a big part of the experience, whether you’re checking out luxury malls in Orchard Road or hunting for souvenirs and affordable finds at Bugis Street and Mustafa Centre. Safe, organized, and tourist-friendly, Singapore is an easy choice for Filipinos looking for a fun yet comfortable vacation.

Do Filipinos Need a Visa for Singapore?

Gardens by the Bay

Good news for Filipino travelers—you do not need a visa to enter Singapore for short trips! If you’re staying for 30 days or less, you can simply book your flight, pack your bags, and go.

Whether you're visiting family, going on a holiday, or just curious to explore places like Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay, or Marina Bay Sands, entering Singapore is simple for Philippine passport holders.

Here’s what you need to prepare:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months
  • A roundtrip ticket (to show you’re coming back)
  • Proof of where you’ll stay (hotel booking, address of a friend or relative)
  • Sometimes, proof of funds (just in case immigration asks)

When you land, you’ll go through immigration as usual. Just answer questions honestly and confidently—they usually ask why you're visiting, where you're staying, and when you're flying back.

Visa Tips for Filipinos Staying in Singapore Longer Than a Short Trip

Sentosa

What starts as a short visit to Singapore can sometimes turn into a longer stay. Maybe you're visiting family, thinking about working, or studying here. If you're planning to stay in Singapore beyond the usual 30 days allowed for tourists, here are some real options to consider:

👉 Types of Visas You Can Apply for:

1. Short-Term Visit Pass Extension

If you're in Singapore as a tourist and want to stay longer, you can apply for an extension of your short-term visit pass. This can give you up to 30 more days. You need to apply before your current pass expires, usually through the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website. Approval depends on your reason for extension.

2. Long-Term Visit Pass (Family or Partner Sponsor)

If you have family members working or living in Singapore (like a spouse or parent), they can apply to sponsor you for a Long-Term Visit Pass. This is common for Filipinos who want to stay with their loved ones for a longer period.

3. Work Pass / Work Permit

Found a job? Congrats! Your employer in Singapore will process your work permit or Employment Pass (EP), depending on the job type and salary. Once your work pass is approved, you can live and work legally in Singapore. Many Filipinos enter as tourists and switch to a work pass after securing a job, but remember—you should not work without a valid work permit.

4. Student Pass

Planning to study in Singapore? Schools or training centers that accept you can help process a Student Pass. This allows you to stay in Singapore legally while completing your studies.

5. Dependent Pass

If your spouse or parent works in Singapore and holds a valid work pass, they can sponsor you under a Dependent Pass. This is common for Filipino families who want to stay together.

How to Apply for a Singapore Pass or Visa

Marina Bay

If you're a Filipino planning to stay in Singapore for more than just a short vacation—whether for work, study, or to join family—here’s a clear, step-by-step guide to help you apply for the right pass. No confusing terms, just real steps you can follow.

✈️ STEP 1: Know What You Need

Ask yourself:

  • Are you going to work? You need a Work Pass (like Work Permit, S Pass, or Employment Pass).
  • Are you studying? You need a Student Pass.
  • Joining family or a partner? You need a Dependent Pass or Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP).
  • Just visiting? No visa needed. You’ll get a Short-Term Visit Pass when you arrive.

📝 STEP 2: Find a Sponsor (For Work, Study, or Stay)

In Singapore, you cannot apply on your own for work or long-term passes.
You need a company, school, or family member in Singapore to apply for you:

  • Work – Employer applies.
  • Study – School applies.
  • Family – Spouse, parent, or partner applies.

They will process your application through Singapore's official government websites.

📄 STEP 3: Prepare Your Documents

Common documents you’ll need:

  • Valid Philippine passport (6 months valid)
  • Passport-size photo
  • Birth or marriage certificate (for family cases)
  • School acceptance letter (for students)
  • Job contract or offer letter (for work pass)
  • Other personal documents, depending on your case

Tip: Keep scanned copies ready, as most applications are done online.

💻 STEP 4: Application is Submitted Online

Your employer, school, or family member will apply through:

  • Ministry of Manpower (MOM) website for work passes
    www.mom.gov.sg
  • Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for Student Pass, LTVP, Dependent Pass
    www.ica.gov.sg

You just wait while they process your application.

STEP 5: Wait for Approval

Once approved, you will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter. This is like your entry pass. Print it.

Processing time:

  • Work Pass – around 3 to 8 weeks
  • Student Pass – 1 to 4 weeks
  • Family Pass – varies, usually 4 to 6 weeks

🛬 STEP 6: Fly to Singapore

Once you have your IPA letter, book your flight.

At the airport immigration:

  • Show your IPA letter
  • Present your passport
  • Answer questions if asked (about your work, studies, or family)

You’ll get a short visit pass first, then complete your pass formalities after arrival.

🏢 STEP 7: Settle Pass Formalities in Singapore

Once inside Singapore, you’ll be asked to:

  • Go for a medical check-up (for work passes)
  • Register your fingerprints and photo at the ICA
  • Collect your physical pass card (like your ID)

Your sponsor will guide you through this.

This was my second stay in this hotel. The room was quite spacious by Singapore standards, which was perfect as I was traveling with my 10-year-old child. The existing couch in the room doubled nicely as a bed for her—something you don’t usually find, as most hotels require sharing the king bed. The view from the room was excellent, and housekeeping was prompt and efficient. The location was convenient too, with a bus stop right outside the entrance and Havelock MRT station nearby. But, the service team had a lousy assistant (Nicholas) who wouldn’t even take an initiative to lift the bags / suitcase to place in the cab. In spite of my back pain I had to do it. They would benefit by having a more proactive person at the concierge desk

Repeat Stay – Highly Recommended! I recently stayed at Royal Plaza hotel and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The check-in process was smooth and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive throughout my stay. I got a complimentary upgrade and a room of my preference, away from the lift and no corner room. The room was spotless, well-appointed, and very comfortable. It has a coffee maker and bidet, highly appreciated! The location was ideal, in the heart of Orchard Road but still peaceful and quiet at night. I especially appreciated the staff who gifted us with an anniversary cake and a hand-written card! It really touched our hearts and made us fall in love with Royal Plaza again and again. Concierge was also very thoughtful, the staff called my room to let me know that my food delivery has arrived. Overall, I highly recommend the Royal Plaza hotel to anyone visiting the area. Great value, exceptional service, and a truly relaxing atmosphere. I will definitely be returning!

Services at Carlton Hotel was great! Club lounge staff, Tina, went extra miles to make our dining experience comfortable. Her attention to details was great. Downside was that the mini bar was not restocked fast enough for us to consume. Nevertheless the room stay was comfortable. Room was clean.

We spent 3 nights at the Premiere bay view room on the 17th floor, loved it. The room is updated, the view is eye opening, the king bed is wonderfully comfortable and the hotel location is wonderful - easy walks to city hall metro station and to the water front. Used the gym - was sufficient.

Our first staycation with Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay for anniversary. Ambience was warm with nice interior.  Location was ideal though there’s road closure during our period of stay, it affected our food delivery but overall was good! Service team was quick and accommodating when we’ve met with noisy neighbour, help was rendered effectively. Breakfast was good and ample. Gym and pool was great.  The view is awesome! I purchased the Lady Gaga Package choosing this hotel for one night, and I ordered another night in this same hotel. 【SERVICE】The staff was very welcoming and he arranged a room for me even they were 2 different orders. It was very helpful and I appreciated it. 【Trick】When the Lady Gaga concert package on sale, the room fee went up to a double compared to normal weekends (800 to 1600) and it was not allowed to canceled, no breakfast included!! However, the room fee went back to normal price and allowed to cancelled, with breakfast later. Here I appreciate that C-trip afford the price difference and refund the extra cost to me!! I am really a big fan to C-trip!I wonder if the hotel management is playing a trick to visitors, so the buyers from KLOOK would have a misunderstanding that KLOOK don't earn too much!! However, KLOOK earn about 40% marget if we calculate the hotel fee in normal price!! So foxy!!! I was happy with my 2-night stay in the hotel, I would like to choose this hotel if I have chance to go to Singapore again. But I personally suggust that NO COOPERATION TO KLOOK any more. They will bring lfy Bugis only bad influence!

I am regular in visiting Singapore. To find a hotel with this size of about 23m2 with acceptable price is not easy, and it is in the center of the city. MRT is just outside the hotel. Chijme is within walking distance. We were skeptical when we saw the facade picture of the hotel but after entering the room, we are pleasantly surprise to find one of the largest room we had ever stayed in SG. The room is clean without the musty smell. Even the single bed was larger than other hotels which we can hard turn our bodies. We will certainly come back again.

One of the first things I gonna mention is customer service, they are so friendly, warm welcome, and kind. This is an important thing. The location is near the bus stop just walk across the bridge for a few minutes. And the bus stop No. 64,123 I always took Because the bus stop is near the Fort Canning MRT. Hotel room equipment is good but mostly just I have noticed many hotels in Singapore don't use Bidet showers. I got a room on the 9 floor so it was a nice view, the nice view will make me feel fresh and enjoy my stay. I didn't have time to swimming or gym but I went to see the swimming pool, I think it is nice as they show is booking hotel on the trip.com. For mattress I think it’s good for me that I slept well without feeling back Pain.

I checked in on a sunny afternoon, and while the room was comfortable, the air conditioning took some time to cool the space down. The executive club room was a delight, featuring a spacious bathroom with a rain shower and bathtub—perfect for unwinding. The club lounge impressed me with its variety of dinner options, and the lychee pistachio cream cake was an absolute standout—truly delicious! The next morning, the breakfast area was bustling, but I enjoyed the warm soya milk, which was a nice touch. However, I wasn’t a fan of the plastic cups provided for coffee, so I headed back to the lounge for a better cup. Overall, a pleasant stay with a few standout highlights!

Very good experience except the 9-10 mins walk from nearest MRT to hotel. The room felt very clean and cozy especially with the projector which we can watch YouTube. The room is very bright in the morning because of the big windows. Innovative set-up of the shower but the water pressure is a bit weak. Have enough space for two quite big luggage. There are also water fill-up on the ground floor and our floor. Swimming pool is quite small but towels are provided and we can see Singapore Flyer from the pool. Little India and Sultan Mosque is nearby. The shopping mall near the Bugis station are resourceful. I would recommend this hotel!

This is our first time staying at Travelodge hotel and we chose a room that has a seating area next to the window. My wife likes this arrangement. The room is clean and the cabinets are practical with built-in safe and fridge. I could cast my Netflix and Prime video movies to the wall mounted TV which also has YouTube channel, local TV channels and others. The bed and the sheets with four large soft pillows are great to plunge into a good sleep. The toilet area is big as it is built for elderly with ramp entrance, grip bars and area to sit for bathing. The hotel has a bar, swimming pool, area for breakfast and two sound proof rooms for personal use at the reception lobby. The hotel is conveniently located opposite Vivo City shopping mall and next to it is HarbourFront Centre. Behind the hotel is Mount Faber and we had a good 30 mins morning climb and walk up there. This hotel is a good stay for my wife and I to celebrate her birthday, Mother’s Day and our anniversary three in one occasion.

Was a very comfortable stay with a nice view of the river. Did not like the attitude of the male at reception desk. I had booked and paid for a room for 5 nights with view of river in advance but on arrival the man at reception was wanting to place me in a room with no windows for ONE night and then change to another room in the morning as he did not have a room available for me. I did not accept that, given my booking and payment in advance but then somehow he managed to find a room with river view for the 5 nights.
