Relaxing sanctuary hotel in a super location minutes away from JR Kumamoto. Well trained polite staff and courteous, gave a kumamoto kids kit for my kids! Free coffee, easy lift access to the mall, parked at the basement for 1000 jpy only per night.
Conveniently located in the city centre, walking distance to the main bus terminal and shopping district. Room was clean and quiet with needed amenities. Complementary afternoon drink (n/a) service was a nice touch. Friendy staffs, snd mostly conversant in English. Highly recommended and will definitely stay again.
Vessel is a budget type accommodation... You get just enough of what you need and if you want anything more or anything specific, you help yourself to their amenities on the 2nd floor reception. Location wise was perfect for us and the rooms are all insulated so you don't really hear the noise outside. They don't provide carpark but have a tie up where you pay a fixed rate to a very close by carpark operator (about 250m away only). We were 4 persons (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and even though the room came with two beds each sized between a single bed and a queen sized bed and a third roll out mattress, you still need to pay more for the bed linen, comforter and a pillow.
As a seasoned traveller, there are a few things that is very important to me. Below are the following.
Mattress : 8.5/10
Pillow : 3/10
Cleanliness : 8/10
Sound insulation : 8:10
Service : 8/10
Remarks : Stone throw away from main shopping street. Many restaurants nearby. Self check in, with affiliated car parks nearby with reasonable price. But pillow was really really bad. They should do something about it. Didn’t have a really good sleep from it. Mattress was ok. They got a good TV though.

Location was great, right next to shinshigai street, there was a public spa and sauna complimentary for guests to use. The pyjamas top was also quite comfortable to wear. Disposable toiletries available for pickup at the recep area, this includes tea. However, no coffee was available which was kinda shocking to me as this was a first I encountered in all the hotels I have stayed at. The air con or ventilation vent also requires deep deep cleaning, I had the sniffles after staying there and the air conditioning seems warm even after adjusting it to the lowest. I realised why after seeing the vent. The room feels slightly smaller than other similar sizes room that I have booked during my travels in Kyushu region.
The hotel is conveniently located right next to Kumamoto Station, just a short 200-meter walk from the Kyushu Odan Bus stop. It boasts a luxurious ambiance, and the lobby is truly grand and impressive. The rooms are quite spacious, particularly the bathrooms. Kumamoto Station itself offers numerous dining options. We especially enjoyed the Wagyu BBQ on the 7th floor of the adjacent mall; we visited in the afternoon and took advantage of their discounted set menu, which was fantastic value for money.
The hotel situated at the bus terminal where buses go directly from the airport.
Staffs are friendly and always happy to help.
Free coffee and tea at the lobby. Freshments like noodles you can get for free every night. Ice cream is free to take after 10pm. In the morning u can get free yoyurt.
Hot spring is very nice and hot. I would stay at the same hotel if I come again.
The hotel, which opened on August 20th, boasts a beautiful, clean, and quiet environment. Guests are greeted with free coffee and late-night ramen. Free popsicles and Yakult are available in the hot spring area, and the reading lounge is filled with manga. Shoes are required throughout the tatami mats, and the staff are always on hand to maintain and clean them. My three-day stay was very comfortable, and my children were so happy they didn't want to leave.
There is parking available, but guests must reserve a day's parking fee of 1,500 yen. There's also a 24-hour parking tower at the intersection, which has a special agreement with the hotel for 1,200 yen between 3:00 PM and 11:00 AM. It's quite good.
The building itself is old, but it has been well-cleaned and kept clean, the restaurant seems to have been renovated, it has a very stylish space, and all the food was delicious.
Above all, the hospitality of the staff was amazing!
We had a comfortable stay.
The adorable cats were also soothing.
As one of the eight sunset views, we were able to see a big, round, beautiful sunset.
This is an inn that I would like to stay at again.
After checking out, they saw us off, and in the rearview mirror I could see them waving goodbye until we were out of sight.
It was a really wonderful hotel ♡
Perfect location at heart of Kumamoto, full of retail and dining facilities nearby; But slightly indirect circulation (Take lift to mall 2/F, then take shuttle lift to 10/F hotel reception, then take lift down to hotel room floors)
Room quite small but comfy, luckily with a view of Kumamoto Castle
Parking at affiliated carpark, with discounted fare for hotel guest ($1200yen)

Very Good
GGuest UserLocated near Karashimacho tram station if you came from JR Kumamoto station. Many combini and supermarket in the area. Walking distance to Kumamoto castle, Kumamoto inari shrine, and Kumamoto square. Hotel staffs were really nice. The room and corridor functioned well but some refurbishment would be appreciated by many guests I think.

PPupuhewanwanThe hot spring bath isn't large, but it wasn't crowded, making the overall experience very comfortable. The restaurant on the first floor takes last orders at 11 PM, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced.
JJames in ShanghaiA great value stay! The staff were friendly and helpful. The washing machine facilities were easy to use and managed to find an available machine most times. We stayed for 3 nights and each day bins were emptied and fresh towels given. The extra space under the bed for suitcases is a great touch and overall the room design in excellent. There were several tour groups staying during the 3 days which made it a little too busy, especially during breakfast as these guests all went at the same time. Not a great experience for more independent travelers like us, but the staff tried very hard. Overall one of the better stays we had during our Kyushu trip.
TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.

SShin-Woei FannYou can see this hotel when you walk out from the east gate of JR Kumamoto station. Although the nearby area is not popular with just few restaurant and store, but it has a local railway station.
However, I have to say this is the worst hotel I have ever lived in my travelling life. This one in the Kumamoto shame on the whole Toyoko Inn system.
I had got some strawberry and sweets in the fridge in the room, and they were all frozen to ice at that night. I did not change any switch in the fridge and it was set up to 2 of total 5.
Then I took the frozen strawberry to the front and told the stuff, but a lady just said sorry about that and that's all.
I can understand there are some difficulties for the staff to explain why bad thing happened to the customers, but at least they should show they would put effort to fix the problems.
This happened in the second night, but I have not get any explanation or compensation when I left even till now.
And the water pump also created lots of noises when nearby rooms using water, so I think is might be refrained from an old hotel.
