"Couldn’t fault the actual room, even though it wasn’t the room advertised or shown in pic, that was a little annoying. The shower wasn’t very good and the room was very stuffy at night as you couldn’t open windows due to noise outside. The location was amazing and the staff very friendly and helpful. The noise both outside and in the actual hotel were quite annoying with slamming of doors and what sounded like moving furniture above us. We knew there was an issue with noise as we read reviews but we thought we are pretty easy going and can  usually sleep through anything, we even brought ear plugs, but recon you’d need industrial ones to block out all the noise there. Sadly I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend to others,"

GGuest UserI first booked an apartment on ***********, but when I checked in, I found it was completely uncleaned and uninhabitable. I couldn't reach the host, and customer service couldn't resolve the issue, so I quickly booked a hotel on Trip.com instead. Upon checking into this hotel, I noticed the bathroom sink was very dirty. I reported it to the front desk, and they said there were no other rooms available, so the staff member brought a towel and wiped the sink clean. However, I later discovered the sink was clogged and wouldn't drain, making it unusable. Trip.com's customer service is much better than Booking.com's; at least they are reachable and actively try to help resolve problems.

AAnonymous UserThe location is decent and the place is clean. They even made up the sofa bed for us in advance. The only downside is that early check-in isn't an option, though you can store your luggage. Breakfast is a standard English breakfast. There's a closer train station, Oldfield Park, so remember to select that when buying tickets.

AAnonymous UserOur family room was located in the basement, and the bathroom door was right next to the head of the bed. When opened, the toilet faced the bed directly. There was no extractor fan in the bathroom, so after showering, the steam lingered for a long time. Since it was so close to the bed, we couldn't leave the door open to air it out; we had to keep it closed and let it get stuffy, which wasn't a pleasant experience. The front desk staff were quite indifferent; they didn't even respond when we said thank you.

GGuest UserThe hotel has an elevator, the decoration is beautiful, very close to the station, but the room does not have air conditioning, only a small electric fan. I arrived in Bath (6/11) very hot, the room is just west, the old-fashioned windows can only open 1/4, so I slept very uncomfortable, and it was cooler until 3 am.

AAnonAnonQuite an old hotel, which has managed to preserve it's historical rooms beautifully. I do warn that the rooms can become quite chilly at night especilaly when the heating isn't turned on in september. And the windows could barely open so you constantly have to keep them open. But otherwise it's still a very beautiful old hsitorical hotel that I could appreciate. I do admit the price was quite high, for the small room I got, especially considering it was usually supposed to be shared between two people. Not great value for money, but definetly can appreciate its history and beauty.

Very friendly staff from the moment we checked in till we checked out. Lovely spa facilities. Beautiful hotel. Safe area as we walked to the city centre and back at different times. Quiet but safe.

SSummerwinter .KThe location was amazing and easy by walking in town, meet the hotel standards on cleanliness, service and location. staff is very friendly with smile especially on the breakfast time, they are really helpful. However I have booked for 2 nights with the city view queen bed room, but It’s no city view at all. Also, this room is on the upper ground floor and nearby the storage cleaning room is not the good idea for customer especially on the early morning time. The problem is the room always has a terrible noise all the time which make me terrible and can’t sleep well when I am being on the room. I have requested the room which away from elevators and good view before booking but not get anything at all.

Cchachacoolcat⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) Comfortable Stay and Great Location I stayed at the Holiday Inn Taunton and had a very comfortable experience. The hotel is easy to access, just off the M5, which made it a convenient base for exploring Somerset or stopping over during a longer journey. The room was clean and quiet, with everything I needed — a comfy bed, a good shower, and a desk area. Wi-Fi worked well, and I appreciated the tea/coffee station. While the decor is slightly dated in some areas, everything was well-maintained. Staff were friendly, helpful, and professional from check-in to check-out. The breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold options, and the restaurant had a nice relaxed atmosphere in the evening too.

GGuest UserWe booked 2 nights for a relaxing spa weekend. Based on it being a spa hotel. We planned on staying in the hotel for the whole weekend.  When we arrived we were told there was no restaurant or bar we can use as it’s only used for events.  We then had some lunch in the spa cafe. Food was ok. Service was terrible.  We then went to the room as we were able to check in. The cleaner was still there. Very apologetic extremely polite and lovely. The room was absolutely wonderful. Large bedroom bathroom and living room.  We went out and found a pub for food. When we returned to relax in the room we found the party was directly below us and in full swing. Very loud and noisy and the smoking area was right outside our window. We called reception but they were fully booked. Glad to say it all stopped at midnight.  We went down to breakfast at 9.30. Not much left and the full breakfast was cold. When we questioned it we were just told”well it has been there since 7” it had just sat on the side in silver trays for 2.5 hours, no heat or option to reheat. It wasn’t edible.  We skipped breakfast that we paid for on the second day.  We then thought we would spend some time in the spa. Ha! Well the pool is small, no where to relax just a couple of plastic chairs, not a spa at all. It had a very small sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi didn’t work it was just a pool of cloudy water with a few bubbles.  Would not recommend. Seems it used to be and could be a wonderful place to be but has been taken over and lost its sole. Such a shame as the building and grounds are wonderful.  I have to add the cleaning staff and lady on reception were wonderful, welcoming and friendly.

GGuest UserCame with no expectations. We don't arrive anywhere in UK with high expectations anymore. The Royal didn't disappoint! Arrived on a Sunday for a night stay after the Saturday night England semi-final. Room was fine, bathroom was fine. Location is excellent. Went down to the bar for a pint and to sit in the beer ”garden” Photo shows what we met. Boiling hot, no tables put out and only one parasol set up. Like walking into a furnace. Decided to go down the road. Had a great meal in the Little thatch, busy and full by the time we left(under cover, under parasols) and gave them our £70. Went for a walk and sat in one of the numerous bars by the Marine Lake for an evening drink. Again, busy and full and shaded. A fab evening. Walked past the Wetherspoons, again very busy and back to the Royal. Empty in the bar!! Nobody outside. Hope they had a good night Saturday, shame we couldn't have a nice meal there Sunday. Very disappointed that the hotel didn't clear up and reset tables for Sunday, they must have lost a fortune. As we left Monday, noise due to hosing down and putting tables back into place, a bit late for us. Both receptionist were helpful but used the excuse that there was football Saturday, didn't fully seem to understand why we were unhappy. If it wasn't for the fact that they ask you to pay up front, we probably would have left. Also not happy that we had to leave our card details in case we ”trashed” the room!!! Really? A 66 and 70 year old couple? We trusted the Royal, they clearly didn't trust us.
