Room was cramped, felt like a travel lodge bolted to a nice old building. The curtains did not block much light, the pole being very wonky. The bathroom was not of a very good standard. For the price we expected more than just a basic stay.
Breakfast service was unusual to say the least - we arrived early to the restaurant and asked if it would be OK. The waiter responded with ”well, I can hardly kick you out can I?”.
the stay was decent. What stands out from all the similar properties is really really really good bed (double bed turned out to more of a superking), nice size tv (50+ inch), sockets with USB are a bonus. interior design is subjective to taste but its not my priority at this price. I guess one can highlight fresh furniture.
Bathroom: Clean shower, standard number of towels and shower mat, hair drier, heated towel rack, shampoo/soap/body lotion and soap bar.
Waiting staff was very nice and helpful.
Breakfast: the breakfast is usual full Scottish breakfast variety buffet, (fried eggs, black pudding, hashbrowns, scones, sausages, bacon, beans) with plenty condiments available as well as 3 types of toast, couple of cheeses and hams, fruit salad, yoghurts, various sweet pastries. Full set of teas, jams honeys etc, but coffee could be a little better, but again cannot complaint at price.
The hotel it is definitely underrated. While some things around hotel are a little flimzy, dusty, it is very decent value. it all fades away when you realise how nice it is to have a fresh large bed and that it is basically minutes away from ferry terminal. Great views are come as a big bonus.
Note for parking: very limited, but you can park at council carpark not far away at reasonable cost.
It is a hotel that is always used for business trips. The surroundings were particularly normal and the morning walk was comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The food is very good.
Beautiful building overlooking the river and mountains
Room was excellent with table and chairs to enjoy the view
Breakfast was very good excellent choice of food and hot which is not always the case with buffet breakfasts so this was a real bonus
Lovely friendly staff who you could easily converse with and have a laugh
Have stayed here often and the people who run it now are the best
We booked 2 rooms 1 night last minute booking. I got Junior suite for me & my husband. Room is very spacious for UK standard, sea view is very beautiful Seaview. The hotel has lift thats very good for travelers with many luggages. The room is a little cold so we switched on spare small heater which is warm enough. Their specialist amenities are very good. Whisky Honey. Oh.our room door isn't working, that's pretty scary.
The location of the hotel is very good and the parking lot is large. Facing the bay and port, the scenery is beautiful. The room is not big and the overall feeling is rather old, but the price/performance ratio here is very high
Lovely resort stay with beautiful landscapes and gorgeous golf view with beach nearby. Enjoyed the calm and peaceful nature. Would love to stay there longer for my next visit. Delicious breakfast spread (made to order with various choices).
All the front desk personnel are the best asset this hotel has. The place could do with an update of their appliances and furniture in their rooms. Soft furnishings are ok. The cleanliness could be a bit better. They lent me slippers so I could use the steam room and it was a great addition to my stay. Overall I give the place a 3/5.

Amazing
GGuest UserWhat could have so easily been the best of our many stopovers was the worst through lack of attention to detail. The room was by far the biggest, with a large private attached shower room. The large bed was comfortable. There was also a large guest sitting room with splendid views of Campbeltown. Now the problems: a kettle whose nearest power socket meant it had to be put on floor or nearby chair to use, a bed side lamp that didn't work, a bed side lamp with a bulb that could power a lighthouse, a bathroom door hinge that could feature in a horror film given its creakes and groans, wobbly sink taps, loose toilet seat. No guest television in bedroom nor sitting room. The breakfast was a surreal experience, one entered a large room with excellent views to find a mat, knife and fork, on a table, for each guest in a line opposite a window with great view.. No juice, cereals, fruit, toast etc offered nor supplied. After too long a wait in the room with loud music playing the host offered a hot drink, a weak milky tea arrived after more minutes in a chipped mug. After another 5 or so minutes the well apportioned, tasty, breakfast was plonked down in front of us, we ate and left with loud music still playing and little interaction with the host. This establishment has made our infrequently used 'Do not visit again' list.

GGuest UserI can't tell you about my stay as I booked the wrong dates. As soon as I found out, I phoned The Oyster Inn to cancel but because I used Trip.com, they said there was nothing they could do.
I cancelled on Trip.com and the message said that they'd contacted the hotel to confirm if it was ok to cancel FOC. According to trip.com, no response was forthcoming so my booking was not cancelled. My booking has since been ”completed”. When I contacted the hotel the following day to ask why they had not approved the cancellation, they said trip.com had simply asked for info, not to approve cancellation. Who is lying?
Suffice to say, I will not use trip.com again and have decided to stay elsewhere in Oban.
GGuest UserPositives:
- Young lady on reception super friendly, helpful and professional.
- Requested teapot and fresh milk for room and provided efficiently with a smile.
- Issue with dirty bed linen dealt with professionally and apologetically, room changed offered but declined.
Negatives:
- Both twin bed sheets were dirty. One covered in mould or grease. The dirt did not look fresh but still I find this disgusting and unacceptable in any hotel of any standard.
- Lady on checkout abrupt and unpleasant.
PPHYO PHYO WAI YANG YINGThis is very small botique hotel, didn't look impressive front the entrance outside hotel. The moment we went in, it is really cozy & we were greeted by very warming in house manager & booked dinner table as well. We enjoyed their breakfast and as well as dinner, very good quality. Our concern is this hotel doesn't have lift.
GGuest UserPerfect location close to rail station.Lots of positive points, however hotel was dated in parts, room carpet flooring was unstable so had to exercise caution not to trip and cause injury. Reception staff member Jamie pleasant and most helpful, so was Nicola over the phone the night before check-in. Food could be improved, with a better variety at breakfast, and providing fresh fruit.
Room allocated was not what I expected. Would stay again if better room allocated.
