My overall experience at the hotel was excellent. The price fully matches the quality of the services provided. The staff were very polite, attentive, and professional, creating a truly welcoming atmosphere.
The location is very convenient — everything you might need is nearby, including shops, public transport stops, a shopping center, cafés, and restaurants, all within walking distance.
The room was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable, with all necessary amenities provided. Overall, my stay was very pleasant, and I would be happy to choose this hotel again in the future.
Located at the most central avenue of Colombo has very nice view to the Indian Ocean, particularly from the rooftop garden and swimming pool, which probably is the largest in Asia. I was in this garden in 2018 and now is like a roof forest. The gym is well equipped and with panoramic view. The hotel is at the top of the mall, the dream of my wife. Every hour there was a shuttle to a tropical beach just outside Colombo. We did also the complementary half day tour to the city that was well organized. Excellent service and comfort.
Our family of three checked into the hotel during the first week of May 2025. Unfortunately, our overall experience was underwhelming. Room service was disappointing, our order was incorrect, and we chose not to send it back as we assumed it would take a long time to receive the correct one. It also took three separate calls just to receive the room service menu.
Additionally, we were charged for ice despite having an active room service food bill, which felt unreasonable. When we inquired about evening entertainment (Friday eve), the front desk assured us a live band would be performing, but this never happened.
It appeared the resort seems to operate with minimal staff, which may explain the drop in service quality. On a positive note, we were warmly welcomed by a great host at check-in, and the barman at the pool bar made excellent cocktails and provided friendly service. Hopefully, this could be just a rare slip-up.
Nice rooms, good location, and the staff was very friendly. Good business hotel, but also good for couples and families.
Although the booking said ”ocean view”, didn't get a ”full ocean view” room. However, there was a nice view of the city and a partial view of the ocean which was unobstructed. Standard cleanliness and amenities. You have to specifically tell the housekeeping team if you want the bed linens changed. Wi-Fi is a bit jittery and requires you to log in every day for some weird reason, but speed is okay too.
Breakfast buffet is nice with a standard spread of local vs continental. Egg hoppers are a bliss, and they'll make yours fresh every morning. Food at the restaurant/lounge is average, but they make a good Long Island Ice Tea at the bar. I was unable to attend breakfast as I had an early flight, requested the front desk to swap out the breakfast for a club sandwich at 3am, they were able to do that. The staff are overall nice and friendly, except for one guy at the reception who for some reason took 1000LKR for a replacement key and didn't want to give me a receipt for it. They also didn't give me a hotel invoice during check-out and said I will have to collect it from Trip.com. While I do have the invoice from Trip.com I found it as standard practice in most other hotels to share a copy of the invoice during checkout.

Always a pleasure to stay at Taj Samudra. Great service and a fantastic Breakfast Buffet. Some of the pricing e.g Fresh Orange juice in the Lobby cafe was extortionate, maybe an oversight

Stayed for a night after landing in Colombo. Hasini checked us in and was very friendly and welcoming; we were given all the information we would need during our stay. Large hotel with well kept rooms. Highlight of the stay had to be the breakfast buffet! The quantity and quality of options were amazing. Wish we had stayed another night so we could've enjoyed the buffet once more.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.
Despite a very good start which involved a very helpful early check-in for our group of four travelers (two rooms) and lots of friendly smiles from the hotel reception team, unfortunately our stay took a bit of a negative turn owing to some confusion over two additional bookings we had made to extend our stay following a change in our plans. I really find it hard to understand why this simple process caused confusion to the duty manager. The following day, despite clearly explaining that we had made additional bookings to extend our stay, the desk staff were confused and claimed that one of the room bookings was not confirmed. The duty manager was dismissive to us and actually ignored us, (even though he had perfectly good English to communicate with us), preferring to speak through another member of the reception team who was standing right next to him. After a wait of at least 15 minutes, I told him that we were not prepared to wait any longer and that he could let us know once the issue had been resolved. This was clearly an administrative problem between the hotel and Trip.com which soured our stay. The duty manager was unprofessional and discourteous towards his guests.
Our experience left us unwilling to use any of the hotel facilities other than the breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet was very good and the staff team exceptional in their service and friendliness. We did use the lounge bar on one occasion and again, found the staff to be friendly and helpful - special mention to Jerushan, with whom we enjoyed a great conversation. He is a credit to the staff team. Perhaps given his people skills, he should be made a manager?!
Other than the reception area, the hotel is very tired and in desperate need of an upgrade. In our room, a light switch cover fell off, some bulbs were not working and the room was dirty - a build up of dust in the corners and on the wardrobe louvres which quite obviously suggested the rooms were only being given a superficial clean.
As said, we do not recommend this hotel and we will not stay here again. We expect far from a Ramada branded establishment.

This was a really nice hotel and stay however although check was at 2pm the room was not ready until after 5:15pm. We arrived around 4 and ended up waiting by the pool for our rooms. Otherwise the pool and rooms and staff were very nice and accomodating. The breakfast buffet and the portions at the Steakhouse were sensational 🥰 The view from the room was also really nice.

Sheer British Colonial history setting from 150 years ago.
Immaculately observed, including the lowering of the Sri Lankan flag every day at 6pm, accompanied by a Scottish bagpiper!!
Excellent location, close to the city centre but just enough away, right be the sea, in front of the iconic Galle Face Green.
The pool is sourced from the sea water all the time. Good size, good facilities. Clean. Sunset views exceptional.
Food available in several locations in the hotel, including the popular, much talked about buffet breakfast and bar food. Prices reflect the maintenance of traditional cuisine in a the modern world…
But not as expensive as other modern hotels nearby, eg the Kingsbury.
Highly recommended.
We were here in the run up to Christmas 2025. The decorations will put many Christian countries to shame!.😁
They obliged us with a late check out.
Five stars!

MManuri LinaraI recently stayed at this hotel, and overall, it was a wonderful and memorable experience. Although the location is a little far from Colombo, I actually found it to be a positive aspect, as it gave us a chance to relax away from the busy city. After staying here, we continued our journey to Negombo, and the distance worked out just fine for us.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome. A special mention must go to Divni, who was incredibly sweet and attentive. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, constantly checking if everything was going well and offering help whenever needed. Her warmth and hospitality truly stood out and made a big difference to our experience.
Check-in did take a little longer than expected, and there were some initial issues with the room reservation and meal plan arrangements. However, the staff handled the situation politely and worked to resolve it, which I appreciated.
The food was one of the highlights of our stay. The buffet by the pool was excellent, offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The action stations were a nice touch, adding freshness and variety to the meals. Everything I tried was delicious, and I found myself looking forward to each meal.
One of the most unique experiences was the afternoon tea at Kurulu Kele, which felt like stepping into a peaceful rural village. The setting was calm and relaxing, and the ginger tea along with the fish cutlets were simply delightful. Swinging on the onchillawa after so many years brought back childhood memories and added a special charm to the whole experience.
The beach view from the hotel is another highlight. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the ocean was breathtaking. I especially enjoyed spending time outside in the afternoons, just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the natural beauty.
Overall, I truly believe this hotel is worth every penny spent. I loved my time here and will definitely return. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for great hospitality, delicious food, and a peaceful getaway.
TThishen NaidooHotel is very clean with a beautiful lobby area. The rooftop pool and bar offers great views of the lotus tower and the sunset over the ocean. However the rooms have a bad odour probably due to humidity or lack of ventilation. The bed linen isn’t very clean with stains on the covers and sheets.
GGuest UserWeeds growing outside my window as well as black mold. Not five star. After asking where we could get a light breakfast,we finally found a coffee place in the basement after two days.We ordered room service as the only other option was a buffet at $16 per person. Having made Christmas dinner reservations,we didn't want to ordere a buffet breakfast. The buffet Christmas dinner was of good quality food well prepared . The problem was everything was cold and the people at the carving stations didn't know how to carve. At $90 for a couple it was a waste. Give the hotel a generous 3 stars..

IIbrahim AzlifCinnamon Life truly lives up to its name as the City of Dreams! The facilities are world-class, offering everything you could possibly need and more. There are plenty of dining options with excellent food outlets to choose from. The gym is well-equipped and maintained, perfect for keeping up with your fitness routine during your stay.
The pool area is spotless and inviting, with attentive onsite lifeguards ensuring safety at all times. The poolside bar is a great place to relax and unwind a perfect spot to chill out after a busy day.
Cinnamon Life is more than just a hotel; it’s a full-fledged business and entertainment centre that has everything under one roof. I truly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be returning!
BBeeshman BahiradanHotel Nippon Colombo offers a decent stay with a few hits and misses. The rooms were okay — fairly clean, but could use some updating in terms of decor and maintenance. Service was polite but a bit slow at times, and certain amenities felt a little dated.
That said, the food was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant really impressed us with flavorful Sri Lankan dishes and a variety of options that felt authentic and well-prepared. Whether it was breakfast or dinner, the meals consistently stood out and were the highlight of the stay.
CCJ12A beautiful building in a very pleasant area of Colombo; the architecture and interior design of the hotel are a joy to behold and the vast majority of staff are polite and courteous. Plenty of amenities nearby to suit all tastes and interests. The breakfasts were great both mornings (both the Sri Lankan breakfast and the Western style), and they really lived up to the high expectations we’d had from the Instagram marketing we’d seen.
We were upgraded to the North West Suite, which was a larger room, for which we were greatly appreciative; a couple of issues with working plugs and appliances (coffee machine and hair dryer) were reported and rectified, although the wiring/plugs more broadly were temperamental and poorly placed (as expected, possibly, with the charm of an older hotel). However, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and the bathroom was well appointed.
Our only qualm was with the overzealous Head of Housekeeping, who seemed to not grasp the subtlety required for such a role, or the privacy with which guests might like to enjoy the beautiful hotel. It appeared that he lingered all too often in search of a tip, and didn’t quite appreciate the boundaries one might desire when paying a reasonable fee for each night. My wife and I took to speedily locking the door and placing the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the handle to keep his incessant interrupting to a minimum. His deputy was, however, an asset to the hotel, who seemed to comprehend the subtle art of providing high quality service for a luxury stay in a lovely hotel.
All-in-all, a great choice for a hotel in the heart of Colombo, and hopefully, during a busier season, the aforementioned Head of Housekeeping might spread his overbearing attention across the many rooms of the hotel.

MMatthew JamesThis was my third stay at the Goldi Sands, honestly, the last time was nearly 20 years ago but I had such a great time back then I had high expectations. In the intervening 20 years, the hotel has had a revamp, double the size, double the number of swimming pools, added an elevator and they've removed the beach-fronted bungalows. All of which I think was a smart move and well worth doing. What has changed is the service and the catering. The staff are of course all very polite just that they didn't go the extra mile like they used to. We arrived late as our flight had been delayed, all I wanted was a couple of bottles of beer, they did arrive but I almost had to beg. I booked a taxi to the airport with the front desk, but they forgot, the waitresses at dinner were all about the hard upsell rather than serving. The breakfast as far as my memory serves me used to be awesome, today's breakfast is the same every day and lacks imagination, is poorly presented, and includes the worst coffee ever. The hotel has a confusing number of tariffs from all-inclusive to room only which means if you want to buy a drink it takes forever as they have to check your ”status” and then if you pay cash they have to go to the cashier as they carry no float. The rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable but basic. All in all it is still a good hotel to choose but sadly it is no longer in the memorable category.
