Staff on front desk was absolutely lovely, was able to check us in early. Gym was good size, pool was busy as they also sell day passes I think but still plenty space. Room was clean along with the whole hotel. Only complaint was that breakfast was astronomical (£20pp) especially for Newcastle, I would recommend taking the short walk into town for breakfast instead
Room size was great, bed was comfortable. Only issue was a red hot pipe going through the room which could not be switched off and the weather was very warm. Will stay again
This is a lovely Holiday Inn. Very modern and clean, felt like I was at much higher level brand! Polite staff. Comfy bed.
The flaw was there was a power cut in the morning. It lasted an hour at least and I couldn’t contact reception (obviously). I was getting ready for an event so didn’t have time to go down and ask what was going on. I know sometimes these things can’t be helped, but I was frustrated that it lasted so long and only came back about 2 minutes before I had to leave.
The location of the hotel is quite convenient for self-driving tours, but it may not be convenient for non-self-driving people. In addition, the car needs to be parked at the stadium opposite, and there are many cars parked there during the day.
The room is overall tidy, but the bathroom walls are a bit worse, but since there is basically no contact, it feels okay.
I booked this hotel twice by accident because the Trip.com key button did not work. They were very rude and condescending when explaining to me that I needed to go back to the third-party agent. The latter then told me to go back to the hotel and I just went from one side to the other. it was just an accident I don’t know why they were so insistent in not refunding me.
The stay was decent for the price paid, though a few things could be improved. The food options were average – nothing particularly memorable, but edible. Do note that basic amenities like toothpaste and toothbrushes aren't complimentary here; you'll need to purchase them separately (packing your own is advisable). On the upside, the rates are undeniably affordable compared to nearby options. If you're on a tight budget and don't mind minimalist accommodations, this might work for short stays. Manage expectations regarding extras and dining quality.
Warm greeting from reception. We choose the king room. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. TV did not work as signal kept vanishing. Room a little dated and the bathroom felt a little small.
Cannot best the location!!!! Trolley push out of the doors and into the hotel ( or vice versa). No worry about taxi or transfer. Restaurant OK but suffers from the same ailment of so many…. Blinking awful coffee!!!! Also those awful mugs …. I have said before….. I have taken to bringing my own decent mug to drink out of.
I ate in the bar last time - similar menu ( same prices) but no booking of a table required. Just got to put up with TV with constant noise or sport……
They let me leave my luggage while I drop off or pick up a hire car…. About 10 minutes walk away.
Always my first choice.
I got a wonderful trip in Newcastle!Great service and views! Also they have a free car park.

PParnavsamOur experience at this hotel was fantastic.
**Location:** The location was ideal for nightlife, with laughter and excitement nearby. However, the hotel's corner position shielded us from noise, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep for our kids. It was just a 7-minute walk to Central Station and the town, surrounded by numerous restaurants.
**Service and Cleanliness:** We arrived before the 3 PM check-in and were allowed to check in early, despite the 4 PM policy. The room was clean and spacious enough for our family. The lobby had a lovely sitting area and a small bar, but we chose to explore the many dining options in the city instead.
KKiwiChuThey have a good bathroom, which is clean and tidy. Although the view is not very good, the price is friendly , definitely will book again if I travel to Newcastle
Eet10We're good stay. Hotel is super clean. They also provide free laundry room use. But laundry soaps u can purchase at the counter. Bfast was included....pretty good spread, but, same foods daily.
Hotel is spotless, n allows pets.
GGuest UserWell what a little gem of a Hotel. Beautiful location right next to the Castle and near the Quayside. We had a lovely stay, the Staff were fantastic! So helpful and polite and friendly and very very professional. We felt very special and looked after. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was lovely. We didn't have any meals there except for breakfast which was tasty and there was plenty of options, the Staff in there again were very lovely and attentive. Saying all this a couple of little niggles the Hotel was so hot! To be fair the weather was beautiful when we were there but there is no air conditioning in the building. I do appreciate it is an older building and it's not always possible to install Air Con Units but a few fans scattered around would have made it a bit more bearable in the public areas . There was a fan provided in our bedroom which was very welcome as the sun facing the windows all day ! We also found the bed not very comfortable, the mattress was too hard for our liking but then this may suit other people so it's not a criticism really of the Hotel more our preference to have a softer mattress.
All in all we Would definitely go back to this hotel but I think I would go in the colder months.
GGuest UserWe checked in and checked straight back out again after going into the room. The room was tiny definitely not suitable for more than 1 person. The ”double” bed was pushed right up against a wall and wasn't much bigger than a single bed. Room was dusty all over. The bathroom was bigger than the actual room although you couldn't actually sit on the toilet properly as the sink cabinet was right next to the toilet. The room stank of food as I'm guessing was above the kitchen as the big fans were next to the window. Couldn't open the window as the smell of food was then even worse so the room stank like burger grease. Room was really hot as the radiator was turned on however couldn't turn it off and opening the window wasn't an option either. Reception area is really nicely presented but definitely not a reflection on the rooms which are poor to say the least. Ended up booking into a second hotel round the corner which is amazing complete opposite end of the scale in comparison to the first. Unfortunately meant we've ended up paying for 2 hotels just for 1 night but lesson learnt.
GGuest UserExtremely busy hotel with coach loads of people arriving. These tend to be mini breaks for the elderly. Waiting to get served or order food at the bar on an evening is terrible due to the unmanageable influx of people.
Sat and eat my evening meal on a sofa as that was all that was available due to people sat at tables that weren’t even dining (these people were waiting to be called into a function room to eat their meal as a collective).
Parking is expensive, both in the council run car park and indeed the hotels one. This hotel is on the quayside but to be clear…….. the opposite side of the river to the busy quay. With this in mind I can’t quite understand the expensive parking and expensive food and drink prices.
The hotel rooms are really clean, very modern and extremely comfortable. The hotel itself is amazing, my only criticism was the hotel was seriously under staffed and bar food and drinks expensive for what they were.

GGuest UserStayed in this hotel for a one night business trip stay over. If you’re looking for something with a little character this is a great place to stay . Central Newcastle , right next to the central train station and Metro entrance, a little bit of elegance. A lovely entrance foyer ( decorated with an amazing Christmas tree) with large chandeliers and helpful staff at check in. Finding my room was a bit of an adventure , but part of the charm of a historic building .
My room was clean , quiet , mini fridge , kettle and tea/coffee , tv , surprisingly good bathroom and comfortable bed.
I had a good English breakfast in the morning , and again the staff were lovely.
I thought it was very good value , and I would stay again .
