My biggest mistake of this trip to Yamagata is to book this hotel. It's a good hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. You will want to stay around the city of Yamagata province which is also called Yamagata city just so you can get to famous tourist spots. However this is 4 hours away from all of these. I had to book another hotel so I can stay 1 day in the city when I wanted to visit these places and the traveling time just completely made me exhausted. It took like 1 day to go to a place and 1 day to go back. It was so terrible, I was crying. This place is closed to Shonai airport not Yamagata airport so I also had to book another flight from Shonai. I wasted so much money for transportation. It was such a terrible experience.
However the hotel is incredibly beautiful with smart design in everything. I loved the onsen very much. If it was just a vacation/restcation for relaxing purpose or isolate yourself from the human word, it's the best choice for you. Since its in the middle of the endless rice field, there is nothing to eat except for paying very high price to eat at the hotel's restaurant. And the food was just okay.
The beauty of this hotel was like a trap. Its like I was blind from its beauty and couldn't see all other disavantages.
First of all, it's right in front of Sakata Station, so it's easily accessible from Shonai Airport. I took a bus from the airport to Sakata Station, and was surprised to find that the bus stop was right in front of Tsuki no Hotel! I booked a corner twin room this time, and the room was very comfortable and had a relaxing atmosphere. I also had breakfast at the hotel, which was delicious with a wide variety of options. I had fun spending time in the same building before checking in. The library was very spacious and there was a tourist information center as well. Overall, I was very satisfied. I would definitely like to stay here again when I go to Sakata.
We took the JR from Ueno to Oishida Station, and there was a shuttle bus from the inn staff to pick us up right out of the gate, which was super good.
Go to the hot spring lobby, at 2 pm, but check-in and pick up the room to 3 pm, so I ground outside the inn, see what to eat, 5 minutes walk will walk to the spot of the photo spot. It was super beautiful, plus it was snowing, just right.
There are only 2 shops with food at the photo spot, one is super crowded, the other doesn't open until 3:30 pm, so it's best to eat something before going.
Picked up the room at 3, super large and super comfortable, daily necessities, toothpaste toothbrush towel, shampoo shower gel. The room window view is super beautiful.
The inn is a one-night-two, dinner super super rich kaiseki cuisine, all the food is very aesthetic and delicious. Breakfast is nine-bar snacks, and there are other buffets of food and drinks, as you wish.
Inn and outlying areas, there are no shops for supper and no cup noodles snacks. It is recommended that people who want to eat supper should bring their own cup noodles 🤣
I was afraid of crowds of people taking a hot spring bath at night, so I went to take a dip at 6:30 in the morning. No one~right. The hot springs are separate areas for men and women. To whole plant, not allowed to wear clothes to soak.
This time I went to a hot spring in the snow. It was the first time. It felt super nice and the environment was super beautiful😍
Silver Mountain Hot Spring, really worth going, super beautiful environment, hostel service and rooms, food, everything to extremely good 👍👍
The location is very convenient, directly connected to S mall, making it convenient for the elderly to buy food and go shopping.
There is free parking.
It takes only 5 minutes to drive to the gymnasium and museum in the city center
Room was really as per picture. The view was great with the striped windows. Quite spacious, able to accomodate up to 2 suitcases opened.
Location is also great as it's directly connected to the JR Yamagata station & S-PAL beside. You will be able to walk to the south tower through the internal passage way. Overall would recommend - really worth the price point, was comfortable and had everything we need for our stay.
Stay and enjoy the silence our inn offers, where only two people can stay together in each room, and original Kaiseki cuisine is served, which is made from super premium Yonezawa beef.
It’s quite a big hotel, 3 buildings are connected and there are many rooms. The rooms are a bit outdated but still maintained well. Service was good and flexible. Transportation to the village is quite necessary when the roads are covered by snow, especially with luggage. They have free shuttle bus which is great.
Best parts: 1. Dinner semi-buffet has unlimited alcoholic beverages including local sake, draft beer and wines. 2. Ski & board rental shop is right outside of the hotel. Although hotel only accept cash for the lift ticket, you can rent the gear (rental shop accepts credit card) and ski down the hill (20sec) to the cable ticket counter to buy ticket, pay by credit card. The location has lifts 5,6 and cable 4
It was very simple.
We were asked to bring only what we needed: a gown, razor, and toothbrush.
As other people have written, there was something like a stain on the futon, but the sheets seemed clean so it didn't bother me.
I booked a twin room, but for some reason I felt like I got a triple room. The room was spacious and nice.
Other people have mentioned that the heating was cold, and although it is certainly difficult to fine-tune, it wasn't cold and I was able to sleep comfortably.
It's very close to the station and the location is easy to find, so I think it's the best value for money.
The lock was old, but it had a certain charm to it.
Thank you very much.

GGazing EyesAfter reading the introduction of this hot spring hotel, Zaimu Sakaeya Hotel was once a hotel in a logging camp and a timber wholesaler with a history of more than 100 years.
The entire hot spring hotel uses a large amount of logs for decoration and construction, which is very unique. The single room I stayed in was very new and very clean.
Breakfast is a set meal, and miso soup, tea, drinks, etc. are also provided. At this price, it's a great value.
Since there is no shuttle bus, it takes about 15 minutes to walk from Kaminoyama Onsen Station to Zaiki Sakaeya.

AAnonymous UserVery clean, the room is quite big. We booked the price for three people, the old man at the front desk was very nice, he kept communicating with us that our room couldn't accommodate three people (in fact, it could), in order to make us more comfortable, he opened a standard room and a single room for us. He was really considerate. Secondly, it is very convenient to go to Zao! ! ! ! Turn right and walk 300 meters to Yamagata Station. After buying the bus and checking the ticket, take the bus directly. There is a Family Mart downstairs. I will stay here again next time! It is economical and very clean! ! ! ! !
NNetotrevinoThis is a very nice hotel. Loved every corner of it. A bit old. But the service and location makes it a nice place to stay. Near shinjo station by bus 20 minutes. It’s a good place to stay if you are going to ginzan onsen. They have shuttle bus to shinjo station from the hotel. They have izakaya inside of the hotel. Staff is great and helpful. We totally recommend it to stay. Awesome views
Bbat-bossThis is a lobby lounge where you won't want to leave the hotel after checking in. From afternoon to night, it offers a variety of beers, coffees and drinks; bartending at the bar and roasting marshmallows outdoors at night; and a whole large space. There is a rest area and library, where you can enjoy reading a book and listening to your favorite vinyl records...
Finally, the hotel provides a free open-air bath for the first 30 minutes. One is a wooden barrel and the other is Zao Rock, which is highly recommended👍👍👍
