about a 10-minute walk from Shin-Omiya Station. Right next to it is the Mi Nara Shopping Mall, which has a large hypermarket and several shops selling affordable clothing — including lovely children’s wear. To reach Mi Nara, head to the left side of the hotel, toward the JW Marriott Hotel.
Highly recommend:
- Mount Yoshino (steep slopes hiking) lots of persimmon, kiwi trees, pomegranate. Be sure to prepare some food, water in your bag & most importantly hiking stick. We took 4 hours of walking to complete the entire Mount Yoshino (from right with shrines to left with restaurant, fruit trees).
Places to explore near the hotel:
1️⃣ Mi Nara Shopping Mall – Perfect for groceries and daily essentials, with prices more affordable than Aeon Supermarket.
2️⃣ Montbell Village & Bellside Café – A great spot for outdoor gear, and the café serves delicious pasta, pizza, and pastries.
- Ask the hotel staff for a printed copy of Bus 28’s schedule to Montbell (the bus stop is right in front of JW Marriott). From Montbell, it’s a short walk to Hard Off / Off House, where you can browse a fun selection of secondhand items — clothes, bags, toys, and household goods.
- The breakfast buffet offers a good variety and is worth the price — ¥3,000 per person, payable at the front desk.
- The room was clean and comfortable. I recommend renting a humidifier if you experience a dry nose due to the cold air. Also, wearing a mask outdoors helps to stay comfortable in dry or chilly weather.
- A free shuttle bus is available — check with the lobby staff for a printed copy of the schedule.
This hotel offers excellent value for money. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped, with attentive service from the lobby staff. The lobby manager who greeted us was a local from Nara. We initially communicated using translation software, but later discovered he also spoke Chinese; apparently, he had studied in Shanghai, China. This young man not only provided enthusiastic service but also recommended and booked seats at nearby izakayas for us. A big thumbs up! 👍
The scenery is beautiful, and the bed is more comfortable than expected. We booked a loft and two double rooms. The loft has a courtyard and a terrace bathtub, and the hot spring ends at 0 o'clock. There are a lot of tableware for dinner and breakfast, but they are too exquisite and I didn't eat enough. It's just average. The bathroom shower is also clean. The hotel provides kimonos for free. It's fun to wear kimonos and drink and chat in the room. There are Chinese waiters. If you bring your own wine, you will be charged a corkage fee of 2,000 yen/bottle. In the morning, after going down the mountain, you will see the deer park.
A wonderful travel experience! The entire hotel exudes a rich, traditional charm (I later learned it was renovated by Kengo Kuma from the former Nara Governor's residence). If possible, I highly recommend booking a room with an onsen (hot spring) – soaking in the onsen after a day of sightseeing is incredibly relaxing. The hotel's location is excellent; waking up early allows you to perfectly avoid the crowds and enjoy Todai-ji Temple and Mount Kasuga (Todai-ji Temple at 7 am offers a completely different experience). By the way, a trip to Nara can extend far beyond Todai-ji Temple and Kasuga Taisha. There are many hidden gems to explore in the surrounding area, such as a short hike up Mount Kasuga, Muro-ji Temple, and the Forest of Arts.
The first time I experienced a youth hostel, the bed type was the upper and lower bunks. I was lucky to be assigned to the upper bunks. After all, if I want to get out of bed, it will affect the lower bunks. The hotel staff is still kind, the part that excludes waiting in line for a bath and there is a distance from JR Nara. Others are not bad. After all, it is a youth travel. People who are afraid of noisy and need independent space think twice.
Beautiful location along the Kumano Koda trail. Excellent food and beautiful onsen on site. It is isolated (which is part of the charm) so be prepared to walk to town or take the bus if you want go to a market or lunch spot.
Located in Yamazoe-mura, ume yamazoe is within a 10-minute drive of Country Park Oko and Nabarinoyu. This hotel is 18.2 mi (29.2 km) from Nara Park and 6.6 mi (10.7 km) from Remains of Mihata Tumuli.
Make use of convenient amenities, which include complimentary wireless internet access and a communal living room.
The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Make yourself at home in one of the 3 guestrooms. Bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers feature deep soaking bathtubs and complimentary toiletries. Conveniences include safes and electric kettles, and housekeeping is provided once per stay.
I spent an unforgettable three days and two nights at Fufu Nara. The hotel has luxurious facilities, beautiful environment, and delicious food. Especially the private hot spring that can be enjoyed 24 hours a day. It is worthy of being the first choice for vacation in Nara.

GGuest UserI did a one night stay and 2 nights before I go, I called the owner to request him to add breakfast and dinner to my booking. He mentioned that he could fix something simple if I didn't mind as his wife would be busy. He offered to pick me up from Shimoichiguchi station when he knew I was going by train. After picking me up, he brought me to a famous temple on the way. It was not somewhere I could visit without driving so I was appreciative. He explained that the house was left behind by his mother and he decided to convert it to a guesthouse last year. There is a famous shrine with a Noh stage within 10 mins walk from the guesthouse and I went there twice as there was a procession at 8am the next morning. There is also Amano river where waters are clear and fishermen can be seen occasionally. Dinner will eventually still prepared by the owner's wife. Food was fresh and delicious. I had beef stew with whole grain rice and several side dishes from the town. As the nearby onsen was closed until June, I decided to visit Dorogawa onsen during checkout. The owner offered to drive me there at no charges. The guesthouse was tastefully converted from a 2 century old house with a nice fusion of new and old. Guests could use the living area with stove heating, bar counter, bathroom and toilets. There are only 2 bedrooms so chances are, you can get some peaceful relaxation. The owner speaks limited English but he uses an electronic pocket tool to help him communicate with overseas guest. His room rates are very very reasonable and he and his wife are both very kind and friendly. They really go all out to make your stay pleasant so give the guesthouse a try. The owner heard I wanted to see stars though I told him I did not expect to since the weather forecast was cloudy. He checked the skies at 9pm and told me that some stars could be seen and took me to a dark stargazing spot nearby. I was happy as I managed to take some decent photos.

11180957907Hotel location is very close to Bamu Station, five minutes walk, typical island business hotel, the room is not big, more hygienic. The hotel is not luxurious and suitable for business travel.
