Hotel was lovely ,room was clean but a little small with no drawer space !
Room could benefit from more USB sockets as it had 2 but only one worked!
Door lock failed but was quickly resolved by maintanence, staff are very friendly .
Pool area was clean and we would return to the hotel đ
The hotel is in an excellent location. 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Parking is provided with a car park underneath the hotel. A discount is given out by reception if you are staying in the hotel. On check in we were offered an upgraded room which was excellent. Very spacious with everything you need for a comfortable overnight stay. All the facilities in the room worked very well. Toiletries are provided in the bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities are excellent. We were staying on room only basis so cannot comment on the breakfast. Check in was very good and all the staff were very helpful and polite. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be happy to use again when visiting Harrogate.
Excellent location to everything, breakfast was just ok đŁ our bed was terrible, we reported it ,my husband keep thinking he was going to fall ,not sure if it was a broken base of the stuffing had gone in the mattress , he slept on the floor at one point đĄ
This hotel is housed in a centuries-old building, giving it a real sense of history. The hallways and rooms have a lovely, pleasant scent. Its location is excellent, right by the ancient city walls where you can go up for panoramic views. It's also within walking distance of attractions like York Minster and Shambles. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings, and there's plenty of space to lay out two large suitcases. The breakfast restaurant is located past the front desk, at the other end of the main building. You enter through a foyer and then need to go up a few steps and turn a corner to find it. The buffet breakfast offers a good variety and is of decent quality. Overall, the hotel's facilities, cleanliness, ambiance, and service are all very good. When we checked out, a staff member even operated the lift for us, so we didn't have to carry our luggage up a few steps.
I had a comfortable stay at the Holiday Inn York. The hotel is conveniently located about a 10-minute ride from the train station using bus 840 or 843, which made getting there fairly easy. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable, providing a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring.
The only drawback is the distance to the Hop On Hop Off bus pick-up point. We either had to take another bus or walk about 20 minutes to reach the nearest stop, which wasnât always ideal.
Overall, the hotel offers good comfort and cleanliness, but travelers relying on sightseeing buses should plan for a bit of extra travel time.
Great location everything within a short walk. The hotel is lovely, representing really good value for money. The staff are very friendly and helpful
Would definitely stay here again if visiting York. Highly recommend for a very pleasant stay
Only slight negative was the cooked breakfast , it was over cooked but not bad considering included in price of room
The hotel stay was really peaceful and quiet, very clean and spacious big room and space. The food was delicious and the waiters were so helpful and friendly. The staff helped us and gave a free chocolate box for my friend's birthday party.
The hotel location is excellent. It's a 3-5 minute walk from the train station, and right next to the city walls â you can even see them from your room window! York Minster and Shambles are only about a 5-6 minute walk away. The staff are really friendly, and the facilities are quite new. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, which is a great design. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit.
The hotel's location is quite convenient. After exiting York station, you just walk around the city walls, and you'll be there in about ten minutes. The room generally felt quite new and very quiet, making for a comfortable stay. York isn't very big to begin with, so all the main attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. Although the breakfast selection wasn't extensive, it was definitely enough to fill you up. đ
The location is good for the people who will take train in early morning. I would say it is a satisfied place to live, with a huge common area.

NNadlouStayed a few times at the Grand Hotel Scarborough, it is situated within a few minutes walk to the town for the shops and eateries also a 5 min walk from the train station.
The seafront, beach, arcades etc is either a tram ride away, a walk down steps or a stroll down through the town.
Our room was a double, but was 2 singles beds pushed together, the mattresses were very hard and uncomfortable, only one pillow each, we could've requested more from reception but normally these are usually found in wardrobe or on shelving in other hotels.
The view was OK overlooking the carpark to the front.
There was a small fridge which was on the floor by the dresser, very odd not on a surface like on drawers. A hairdryer, flat screen tv with no ITV, ironing board, kettle, cups coffee tea, bath towels etc were provided .
The Bathroom was a bit odd with the shower screen attached past the safety grab rail so water splashed onto the floor, the toilet was also slanted towards the bath.
Room was warm enough, a fan was in the wardrobe as no aircon but didnt use it, we had frequent visits from the local seagulls on our windowsill.
This hotel is OK, it's very dated with brown furnishings and the rooms/ skirting boards need a deep clean and refreshing.
Cannot comment on food, entertainment or bar as we didn't partake in these.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location and ambiance are great! The check-in experience was decent, but a larger room might have been more comfortable. The mattress was super comfy, ensuring a good night's sleep!
GGuest UserPerfect location for a sightseeing trip to York, with car parking. The hotel was gorgeous, beautiful room (we had blenheim suite), huge copper bath in the bedroom (bring your own bubble bath!), super comfy bed, beautifully decorated room. Reception staff lovely and very knowledgeable of local area. Lovely bar too with friendly staff, a range of boardgames available which was fun. Breakfast room had a great Churchill theme ( brilliant top/bowler hat lighting). Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a really lovely stay.
TTuya22We had a small issue with the twin bed upon arrival, but the front desk staff resolved it quickly and was very kind. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The sea view during breakfast was beautiful and made the morning especially enjoyable.

GGuest UserI stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel.
I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasnât ideal â especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax.
The location is decent enough, but if youâre travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting.
I didnât try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I donât feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasnât available outside of breakfast hours.
Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, Iâm not likely to stay here again.

GGuest UserGreat value room in a lovely rural location, reasonably close to York. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. I had a good quiet nightâs sleep. Evening meal in the restaurant was fine, but a bit overpriced for what it was and service in the restaurant was friendly but slow. I would definitely stay again though if I was in the area.
GGuest UserBooked to attend an exam nearby (5 min walk). Room nice and big, had everything we needed. Check in check out quick and easy, parking ÂŁ8 for 24 hours. I asked for a quiet room but definitely was not quiet there was a private function going on with very loud music which didnât with being prepared and well rested for an early morning exam on Saturday.
