On the positive side, the hotel has quite a few recreational facilities, and the room amenities are decent and relatively new. On the negative side, the biggest problem is the excessive dampness in the room. It was uncomfortable to sleep in, and although the hotel changed the bedding, it didn't help much. This might be due to the humid air during the rainy season in Xishuangbanna, but two things puzzled me: 1) The front desk said no one else had reported this issue before. 2) I stayed at three hotels during this trip, and Zhucheng was the third. The other two were right next to Zhucheng, and their rooms didn't feel noticeably damp. Also, the hotel room didn't pay enough attention to some details. The sofa arrangement prevented the curtains from closing completely automatically; I had to manually close them. The refrigerator was also quite noisy, which affected my sleep.

The biggest surprise of my Dali trip wasn't the ancient city or Erhai Lake, but this forest B&B nestled halfway up Cangshan Mountain 🌿. As we drove up from the city, the urban hustle and bustle slowly faded, replaced by lush greenery and the sound of pine trees swaying in the wind. 🌄 **The Rooftop is Pure Soul:** I was absolutely stunned the moment I stepped onto the rooftop – the nineteen peaks of Cangshan Mountain stood behind me like a majestic screen, with the entire Erhai Lake and scattered Bai ethnic villages stretching out below. The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple were faintly visible. In the morning, drawing back the curtains revealed a sea of rolling clouds. In the evening, I'd sit on the swing chair on the terrace, watching the sunset paint Erhai Lake a honeyed gold 🍯. At night, a glance upwards showed the Milky Way so clearly it brought tears to my eyes ✨. 🌿 **Immersive Mountain Living:** Hydrangeas were in full bloom in the courtyard, and dappled sunlight filtered through the treetops onto the wooden floors. The natural wood-toned room had floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, making it feel like sleeping right in the forest 🌲. There were also three resident cats, each with their own unique personality, taking turns on patrol. Staying in the Jacuzzi Villa was an absolute delight! The Naxi-style courtyard was elegant and peaceful, and the private, temperature-controlled Jacuzzi was clean and comfortable. Soaking under the stars at night melted away all my travel fatigue. I must commend Elin, our butler, for her outstanding service. From coordinating before our arrival to her attentive care during our stay, she was always quick to respond to any needs. She was thoughtful and professional, never intrusive, which truly enhanced the relaxing vacation vibe. The facilities were excellent, and the service was an added bonus – a perfect Lijiang getaway! Highly recommended!

The room was very clean, and the host was super friendly and helpful with luggage. There's also a Samoyed named Mitsu who is incredibly friendly; my kids absolutely adored her and couldn't bear to leave. The dog was very clean and well-behaved. Overall, the guesthouse was very quiet.

I had such a wonderful stay at Lisiman in Shangri-La, and honestly, it was much more than just a hotel stay. Even before my arrival, the Lisiman team had already created a dedicated WeChat housekeeping group and assigned me a one-to-one butler, Maike, to assist me with anything I needed throughout my stay. As someone travelling solo in China who basically only knew how to say “ni hao” and “xie xie,” this was incredibly helpful! 😆 The language barrier was never really an issue because whenever I needed something, I could simply send a message in the WeChat group and Maike would help or bring it over. The other housekeepers in the group were equally attentive. Alan, Maike would send reminders for breakfast, remind me to collect the complimentary soup, and make sure I didn’t miss the little experiences and benefits included with my stay. I was actually surprised by how many complimentary treats and services were included with the booking, together with the photoshoot. These thoughtful extras really added value and made me feel very well taken care of throughout my stay. Upon arrival, my room was randomly assigned among the cabin rooms and wasn’t the particular cabin with the wooden gate that I had been hoping for. Nevertheless, the room was beautiful and the view was already superb. I mentioned my preference to Maike, and this became one of the highlights of my stay — I received a complimentary upgrade to exactly the room I wanted! 🥹 I was so happy and genuinely grateful that they took my request seriously and made the effort to accommodate me. And then there is the location itself — absolutely breathtaking. Waking up surrounded by mountains and vast green grassland felt almost unreal. You don’t even need to rush out sightseeing because there is already so much to enjoy around the property. You can feed the animals, wander around the grassland, take beautiful photos, or simply sit and enjoy the scenery. There is also a lovely cabin café where you can relax while taking in the surroundings. What impressed me most was how Lisiman combines beautiful accommodation and incredible scenery with genuinely attentive hospitality. The team doesn’t just provide a room; they make sure you are comfortable and actually get to enjoy everything included in your stay. For an international solo traveller who speaks very little Chinese, I felt very comfortable and well looked after here. Thank you especially to Maike and all the housekeepers for making everything so easy for me. My only regret is that I stayed for just one night. I definitely should have stayed longer. ❤️ If I return to Shangri-La, Lisiman will absolutely be somewhere I would love to stay again.

During my time in Lijiang, this was the only hotel I was truly satisfied with. I was honestly so tired of those so-called 'owner-run' B&Bs where you pay good money but get no sense of service, feeling cramped like you're intruding in someone else's home. Hygiene: Everything was excellent. Environment: Remarkably good. Both the reception and the hotel's public areas are exceptionally spacious for the Old Town. A major plus is that it's just a five-minute walk along the main road from the parking lot. Many B&Bs in the Old Town, even those not cheap, are tucked away down winding alleys with cramped receptions and gardens. This place truly offers the facilities of a proper hotel. The garden is also beautifully maintained. All public areas are lovely, well-equipped, and there's even a play area for children. The complimentary travel photography service also had very kind staff. Service: Every staff member I encountered was excellent, from management to restaurant and front desk staff. They not only greeted me proactively but also offered enthusiastic help. I've already recommended it to all my friends planning to visit Lijiang. I hope the owner continues to have great business, and that both the pets and staff receive even better welfare and benefits.

Back in Dali, I decided to revisit the Xianyun 360-degree Cliff Seaview Hot Spring B&B, and it truly lived up to expectations! The front desk staff were incredibly polite and attentive. I later found out that the humble and helpful manager, who was always ready to assist, was also from Beijing, which made me feel right at home. The B&B's environment is serene and immaculate. The private hot spring pool in the room is definitely the highlight. Soaking in the hot spring, you're directly facing the Cangshan Mountains and Erhai Lake – it's like a landscape painting come to life. During my downtime, I loved sitting on the balcony, gazing at Cangshan and Erhai, which was incredibly therapeutic after a long journey. The restaurant's dishes were delicious and flavorful. My experience was as excellent as ever, truly a hidden gem of a seaview B&B. Choosing to stay here twice speaks volumes about its reliable quality. Returning to Dali from Jizu Mountain, I temporarily chose to stay at Jinsuo Island. I have been to Dali many times, and this is my first time on the island. This hotel is indeed the most satisfactory one. The room has an unbeatable sea view. You can see the sea and the sunrise while lying on the bed. The facilities are very smart and the hygiene is also very clean. Super cost-effective! The breakfast in the sea view restaurant is also a little surprise.

Stayed here in end Aug where there wasn’t much snow cap on the mountains and a lot of clouds blocking the mountain peaks, but I’d say that the room view is still really nice because there’s sun, lake, mountain, clouds all in one! What we appreciated from this hotel: 1. The views: on day 1, we had afternoon tea (complimentary with our booking) and just enjoyed the view. We also tried to catch sunrise from our bed, and also enjoyed the view over complimentary breakfast at Level 1. 2. The service: this is the most supportive service we’ve ever had among all the hotels in China and other countries we have been to. - transport: They helped us to schedule complimentary pickup transfers from Lijiang train station to the hotel on our first day and from hotel to Lijiang Sanyi airport on our last day. - Taobao: They also helped me a lot with my many Taobao orders, across communicating with the delivery people, collecting (1x a day) from the collection point, returning some items as they weren’t fitting, applying for refund as my parcels still didn’t arrive on the last day etc. - other advice: getting used to higher altitude in Lijiang, how to use the washing machine & dryer, recovering from diarrhoea, whether we can still visit Lijiang Ancient City at night - other hotel items: gave us makeup remover and cotton pads when we had our photoshoot etc. - food: packed breakfast for us when we had day tours that started from 6am and asked us to pick our breakfast if we’re eating at hotel a day before. - housekeeping: they’d ask us if we’d like housekeeping when we waited for our didi to come. For the 6am day tours when reception wasn’t open yet, we texted them for help to tidy the room and we came back to a tidied room when we returned. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Super comprehensive service, we highly appreciated this. 3. Toilet: this toilet has a bidet! We were pleasantly surprised by this. While the area around the hotel is generally still developing, to which one of our Didi drivers said there was growing interest in real estate around the area, among the 3 hotels we stayed in Yunnan so far across Kunming, Dali and Lijiang, this is the best one we have had 😊

Truly beyond my expectations This hotel genuinely exceeded every expectation I had. The service was not just good the staff went above and beyond in ways that I honestly did not expect, even from a five-star hotel. Every single staff member we encountered was incredibly friendly, attentive and meticulous. You can really feel that they care about the little details and the overall guest experience. One thing that really amazed me was the cleanliness and attention to detail in the room. The shower area was spotless every single time we returned to the hotel. Even when there were water marks and spots on the shower taps and head before we left the room, we would come back to find everything sparkling clean again. It was such a small detail, but it showed just how much effort the housekeeping team puts into maintaining the room. Honestly, this is the kind of attention to detail that you don’t even always expect from a five-star hotel. What impressed me even more was how thoughtfully they considered the needs of travellers. Knowing that guests would likely spend the entire day walking and exploring Dali, the hotel thoughtfully prepared soaking basins for guests to soak their legs after a long day. After hours of walking, coming back to the hotel and having this little comfort prepared for us was such a lovely touch. It showed that they weren’t simply providing a room, they were thinking about the entire experience of their guests. The food and drinks were another pleasant surprise. Breakfast had a wonderful variety, including their homemade yoghurt and soy milk, which were both delicious. During lunchtime, they also provided coffee and tea such a thoughtful touch when you’re out exploring for the day. And dinner was another highlight. Their homemade rose vinegar and wine were such unexpected and memorable touches. Everything felt carefully prepared and had a sense of warmth and authenticity that you don’t often find in hotels. What I appreciated most was the attention to detail throughout the entire stay. From the spotless room, thoughtful amenities and food, to the genuinely warm service, you could tell that the team truly cares about their guests. After travelling and staying in different hotels, I can honestly say this stay left a very strong impression on me. The combination of exceptional service, meticulous cleanliness, thoughtful details, wonderful food and genuinely friendly staff made this hotel stand out far beyond what I expected. If I ever return to Dali, I wouldn’t even need to think twice about where to stay. This would be my first choice, without hesitation. You truly went above and beyond. ❤️ 一次真正超出期待的入住体验 这次在大理入住这家酒店，真的让我非常惊喜。 酒店的服务完全超出了我的预期。每一位工作人员都非常亲切、热情，而且特别细心。最让我感动的是，他们对客人的照顾不是停留在“做好本职工作”，而是真的会去观察和理解客人的需求，把很多细节都提前想到了。 首先必须夸一下酒店的卫生和客房细节。 房间每天都保持得非常干净，尤其是浴室，真的让我印象深刻。前一天离开房间的时候，淋浴头和水龙头上明明还有一些水渍和水印，但我们每次回到酒店，看到的都是已经擦拭得闪闪发亮的淋浴头和水龙头，干净到几乎看不到一点痕迹。 这种程度的细致，说实话，甚至不是每一家五星级酒店都能做到。 另外一个让我觉得特别贴心的地方，是酒店真的有站在旅客的角度去想。 大理旅行每天走路的时间非常长，走一整天下来腿真的会很累。酒店竟然还提前准备了泡脚盆，让客人晚上回来可以泡泡腿、放松一下。这个细节真的让我觉得很暖心。因为这已经不只是“提供一个房间”了，而是在认真考虑客人整个旅程中的体验。 早餐也非常丰富，选择很多，而且还有酒店自制的酸奶和豆浆，都很好喝。中午还有咖啡和茶可以享用，让人觉得非常舒服、贴心。 晚餐同样让我有惊喜，酒店还有自制的玫瑰醋自制葡萄酒。这些小小的细节其实非常难得，也让整个入住体验多了一份温度和自己的特色。 整趟入住下来，我最深的感受就是：这家酒店真的很用心。 从房间的卫生、工作人员的态度，到餐饮、泡脚盆这些看似不起眼的小细节，每一样都能感受到他们是在认真对待客人，而不是单纯把服务流程做完而已。 这次入住让我觉得，酒店真正厉害的地方并不只是硬件，而是愿意站在客人的角度，把很多客人甚至没有开口说出来的需求都提前想到了。 如果以后还有机会再来大理，我完全不会需要考虑住哪一家酒店。 这里一定会是我的第一选择。 非常感谢酒店的每一位工作人员，让我们这次的大理之旅多了一份舒适、放松和温暖。这样的服务，真的值得五星好评！❤️
