We recently stayed at Discovery Samal, and overall, it was a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. The resort itself is beautiful—clean, modern, and well-maintained. We really loved our room and the amenities; everything felt comfortable and high-quality. The beach and pool areas are also great for unwinding. That said, there are a few things to note. It was very hot during the daytime, and even the reception area (with fans only) felt quite warm. We first went to Malabar Lounge for drinks while waiting, and later tried the billiards to pass the time. We went back to the reception twice to follow up, but the room still wasn’t ready. We understood since check-in is at 3 PM, but we were told they would call once it was ready—and we didn’t receive any call. It might be because the signal is weak in some areas (there’s no signal inside the billiard room). If we hadn’t gone back to the reception at 3 PM, we honestly wouldn’t know what time we would have been allowed to check in. The check-in process itself also took a bit long, and we were only settled into our room around 3:30 PM. Also, since it’s a luxury hotel, food and drinks are expectedly on the expensive side. Despite these, we still had a great stay. The place is perfect for relaxing, and we truly enjoyed the experience overall. We’d still love to come back—maybe next time with family.

From the moment we arrived at Dusit Thani Residence Davao, we felt welcomed and well-taken care of. The lobby, though modest in size, exuded a calm charm and the check-in process was smooth. We were greeted warmly by staff who treated us with genuine hospitality — their attentiveness set the tone for our entire stay. Many previous guests also praised the staff’s politeness and readiness to help.  We stayed in a studio apartment, and it was nothing short of comfortable. The room came with a kitchenette, a coffee/tea maker, minibar, and free WiFi — extremely convenient whether you’re staying briefly or planning a longer stay.  The modern fittings and thoughtful layout made it easy to relax or be productive: there was enough space to move around, and everything was clean and well-kept. Cleanliness, indeed, stood out during our stay — a point frequently echoed by other guests.  One of the highlights was the leisure amenities. We took full advantage of the outdoor swimming pool — a serene little oasis perfect for a morning dip or evening unwind. The fitness centre, spa, and wellness offerings added to the sense of pampering. For those traveling with kids or family, there’s even a kids’ pool and a family-friendly vibe.  Breakfast and dining at the hotel also deserve special mention. The buffet breakfast was generous and satisfying — a great way to start a busy day in Davao. For lunch or dinner, the on-site restaurant served a mix of Thai, Asian, international, and European dishes, giving a variety that could cater to different tastes and dietary preferences.  The presence of a café and even a pastry/deli option made it easy to grab a light meal or snack without leaving the property.  Location is another strong suit for Dusit Thani Residence. It’s conveniently located near the airport, which is a big plus if you have early flights or late arrivals.  At the same time, it’s still close enough to city amenities, shopping, and other attractions — offering both convenience and comfort. Many guests appreciated this balance of accessibility and tranquility.  That said, no stay is perfect, and a few aspects could be improved. Some guests mentioned that certain rooms felt a bit cramped or that balcony areas were under-utilized due to cleanliness concerns.  There were occasional gripes about maintenance — for example, shower drains draining slowly or small furniture quirks — and a few found the elevator access between towers a bit awkward, especially if coming from parking.  A minority even felt the place fell short of 5-star expectations in certain respects.  Still, for us, these were minor blemishes compared to the overall positive experience. What stood out was how the hotel blends comfort, convenience, and courteous service with enough extras to feel like more than just a “place to sleep.” The pool, spa, and kitchen-equipped rooms make it a strong choice for families, couples, business travellers — essentially anyone who values a balance of luxury and practicality. In conclusion: if you’re looking for a stay in Davao that offers more than just four walls — a place that feels both refined and welcoming — Dusit Thani Residence Davao delivers. Its attentive staff, well-appointed rooms, great amenities, and strategic location combine into a memorable experience. It was our first to experience the Pearl Farm and it really exceed our expectation🥰 We had a great time staying at this resort the relaxation, the comfort of their food from breakfast to dinner with snacks and unli drinks, the peace given by the place we felt so well rested, and the staff were all nice and friendly especially to our toddler she really enjoys talking to every staffs she met. The best resort we've ever stayed and we couldn't stop talking how great the place and all people. Surely we will return and stay longer soon.

It was an amazing stay in Dusit Thani. Their breakfast have good variety everyday. If you request for bacon they will make one for you. The staff are very accomodating and i like how they greet the guests all the time. The spa is amazing very relaxing and the gym is clean and open 24/7. Pool is nice. We got the nice view from the 5th floor. Everyone is super mabait and amazing from the guards to reception, to staff and housekeeping. Will recommend this hotel to my friends who will visit Davao

The space was okay the trip is for a business. It is near the central of Tori’s so it’s a bit accessible. The place was okay and neat.

The hotel is in a good location - not too close to the busy amenities, yet still within convenient reach of everything. Public transport is readily available just a few steps outside the hotel, making it easy to get around. Overall, the hotel is in need of refurbishment. The rooms are not in good condition and fall below average standards. During our stay, we had to change rooms once. The first room assigned upon arrival had several issues, while the second room was in slightly better condition but still below average. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, although the level of service seemed to vary depending on the shift rotation.

Ask for Nancy! She will make you have the best time here! This hotel exceeded all of my expectations. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with modern furnishings. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had a restful night’s sleep. The hotel’s restaurant served delicious food and the staff were always friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect, with easy access to public transportation and nearby attractions. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it to others. Thanks again Nancy 😀

Overall, our stay was okay but there were some issues that need improvement. We had to request for an extra towel for the floor because it was not provided in the room setup. Breakfast was good, and we appreciated the variety and taste. However, our booking clearly stated 4 breakfast inclusions, but upon arrival, we were informed that it only covered 2 breakfasts, which was disappointing and felt misleading. During our stay, there was an earthquake (magnitude 5.5). Surprisingly, no alarm or safety announcement was made by the hotel, which was concerning. Proper safety protocols should be in place during emergencies. Overall, good breakfast but some service gaps and safety concerns need to be addressed.

Paradise resort remains the original restort on Samal. Thr service of thr staff is great. Although the food prices are a little higher the quality of the servings are excellent. I would highly recommend Paradise as a relaxing venue. Where you can snorkel jetski have a spa in clean well managed resort. O met 2 membwrs of staff that have been there for over 20 years from my 1st visita tbat truely shows the atmosphere of the workimg envirnment.
