"The location is convenient, with a shuttle bus service between the hotel and Prince Outlet shopping mall and the train station. There's a bit of a distance between the East and West wings of the hotel; the East wing is closer to the children's play area. The jungle adventure is suitable for both kids and adults. The breakfast was quite average, possibly because there were too many guests. You need to call a day in advance to reserve the number of people and time for breakfast the next day. During our stay, we could only choose between 6:30 AM or 9:30 AM. The 'please clean my room' sign was very confusing; instead of simply stating 'yes' or 'no', it had a lengthy message that was open to misinterpretation."

"Environment: I went in winter hoping to see heavy snow, but only saw bare branches, haha. It's a very quiet hotel with a picturesque view. It would definitely be amazing in spring or during the autumn foliage season. Facilities: Being a 20-year-old hotel, the facilities feel quite dated. Both the lobby and rooms are very dim. I booked the most basic room on the first floor, room 332. It uses a wall-mounted air conditioner that blows all night, sounding like a boiling kettle. The curtains don't close completely, letting in light in the morning. It's hard to find the light switches in the room, and even with all lights off, the top window still lets in light. This is something to note for light sleepers! I particularly want to point out that the mattress was uncomfortable; my back felt very sore when I woke up in the morning! Hygiene: The room was quite clean. They serve tap water for drinking! Service: On the second day, I opted for in-room breakfast. The staff member rang the doorbell promptly at 9 AM. I felt the Western breakfast was better than the Japanese one. After that, we didn't eat at the hotel anymore. There's a 'villager's diner' about a 10-minute walk away, which was very convenient and cheaper! Onsen: I tried the hotel's hot spring, and the water didn't feel very hot. Later, I went to the outdoor hot spring near the 'villager's diner,' which was quite comfortable. Overall: I booked at a relatively cheap price, over 2000 per night. If the price were higher, it wouldn't be worth it, especially in winter without the beautiful scenery. The hotel really reminds me of Moganshan's Naked Retreats! Hahahaha 😂"

"The hotel's decor is incredibly elegant, simple yet with thoughtful details everywhere. Every staff member I encountered made me feel seen and cared for; they were so patient and meticulous. In the evening, there's a happy hour where you can enjoy drinks, lie on the sofa by the fire, and just relax – even in July, Karuizawa nights can be a bit chilly. The hotel also offers a variety of bath salts by the elevator, which is a blessing for anyone who enjoys a good soak. On the second day, the hotel provided free bicycles, perfect for exploring the area. Lastly, a shout-out to the breakfast – it was a set menu with options, and even my husband, who rarely eats Western food, gave it his approval. We've decided to return during the winter ski season!"

"This was a really lovely trip. The staff here provided excellent service. As soon as the car pulled up at the hotel entrance, someone came right away to help with our luggage. We stayed for two nights and three days, and had breakfast twice — one Western-style and one Japanese-style. Both were delicious, though I personally preferred the Western breakfast. The public bath was also great. It was never crowded, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. Our room was spotlessly clean and well-kept. Compared with hotels in Hong Kong, this place offers really good value for money. That said, there was one slight downside. I found out the hotel was built over thirty years ago and only renovated a few years back. The rooms and in-room facilities still feel quite modern, but the corridors and lobby clearly show the building’s age and have barely been updated. You can definitely sense a hint of old charm here. Overall, it was a wonderful stay."

"The room was larger and more modern than I expected. The front desk staff were also very friendly. However, the room faced the hotel opposite, which made me feel like there wasn't much privacy, and there were quite a few bugs on the balcony. The shuttle bus schedule was very fixed with infrequent services, so we mainly relied on taxis. The breakfast options were very limited, and the coffee wasn't very good, which was a bit disappointing."

"The rooms and facilities were absolutely amazing! Each room had its own private indoor onsen, and the fridges were filled with various drinks. Bathroom amenities were beyond expectation, with face wash, lotion, etc all provided. The hotel provided free drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in the lounge and garden in the afternoon. Dinner and breakfast were perfect! There was more food than we could finish, but the quality of each dish was spectacular. Leave time for a long breakfast because the food keeps coming. The hotel was also very accommodating in helping us forward our luggage to our next destination. It was the perfect place to relax and refresh. We stayed two nights but wished we stayed the whole week."

"Traveling with my besties, we were pleasantly surprised to find our triple room was actually a suite with a small sofa – perfect for the three of us to hang out. The bathroom and toilet were separate, which was super convenient and meant no waiting around. There's a door off the lobby that leads to a really nice lounge area which doubles as a library. The hotel is only about a 5-6 minute walk from the station and really easy to find. Plus, there's a fantastic sukiyaki restaurant downstairs with amazing wagyu beef, just make sure to book ahead!"

"There are several Prince Hotels in Karuizawa, and this one is 5-star but a bit old. To get to the hot springs or the outlet mall, you have to take a shuttle bus. The hotel rooms are laid out in a long corridor, so if you're unlucky enough to get a room in the 50s, you'll feel like you're walking forever. The scenery, however, is quite nice, as it directly faces the golf course. Besides providing shuttle buses to the hot springs, outlet mall, and train station, the hotel also offers private car service during off-hours. The concierge also has free bicycle rentals (electric and non-electric). What's really great is that upon check-out, you can arrange to have your luggage delivered directly to a service point at the outlet mall (this is excellent, no need to drag your own bags to catch a ride). All in all, it's still pretty good."

"The owner and the hosts were all incredibly kind. The restaurant felt especially cozy in winter, and I enjoyed a morning walk around, catching a glimpse of Mount Fuji. Every building in the vicinity had its own unique charm. Thanks to the hosts' recommendation, I also visited a local onsen with an outdoor bath. Soaking in the steaming hot springs on a cold winter night, with a crescent moon hanging above the treetops, was an absolutely wonderful experience."

This hotel is definitely one for the bucket list! The service is excellent, and the food is delicious. They also offer a shuttle service to Karuizawa Station, with a polite driver and soft music playing in the car. My only minor complaint is that the hotel doesn't provide bicycle rentals, but you can easily find rental shops nearby.

Bringing the dog to stay together, very satisfied in all aspects. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from Karuizawa Station, and there is a free shuttle service, which is very considerate. The hotel facilities are very clean. Although it is a pet hotel, the rooms and public areas do not have any unpleasant smell. Both indoor and outdoor are equipped with a dog run and a dog salon where you can take photos. It was fun to communicate and play with other dogs in the public area. During the stay, you can also soak in the hot springs, and adults can also relax and enjoy. In short, it was a very satisfying experience. Next time I go to Karuizawa, I still want to take the dog!

Thank you very much! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and we really appreciated being able to borrow dishes and cutlery, as well as getting complimentary bottled water! The room was also very spacious and clean, which we were very happy with! The location right in the shopping street was also great! However, it was a shame that we couldn't open the curtains in our room even in the morning, as many people walk by and can easily see into the room from outside.

This hotel is a quiet, tastefully decorated old villa. We stayed here and took the hotel's shuttle for skiing and shopping in the mornings. The arrangements were very well-organized. In the evenings, the hotel even gave marshmallows to the kids to roast over the fireplace. It's perfect for families.

The rooms are incredibly spacious. The breakfast is abundant and aligns perfectly with Japanese nutritional standards. I highly recommend Usagi no Mori, a bunny-themed restaurant just a 5-minute walk away, next to a large supermarket. The hotel's location is also very convenient for visiting any attractions in Karuizawa.

Highly recommended! The hotel offers a shuttle service, and the surrounding area is very pleasant. Both breakfast and dinner are exceptional and unique. I hope to have the chance to visit again in the future. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, all with wooden structures that give a very calming feel.

Hotel Marroad is just a few minutes by the shuttle bus from the station , and it can also be reached on foot. We booked a room for 4 people and the room size is good at a very reasonable price (include breakfast). The fixtures are a bit old. However, the room and the amenities are very clean. We come to skiing and the hotel has a rental service (much cheaper than you rent at the ski field) which is very convenient. Also, they send us to ski field every day. Staff can speak little English, but they are all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious, and it is a must try.

Everything was incredibly clean, the food was delicious, and all the necessary services were provided – I was completely satisfied! After enjoying scones and tea as a welcome treat, I rented an electric bicycle and explored Old Karuizawa. I drove from Tokyo to the hotel, but the roads were crowded everywhere because it was Golden Week, so being able to rent a bicycle there was a real lifesaver. Dinner was British-style cuisine, and the staff's service was wonderful; I had a fantastic time. Throughout my stay, from beginning to end, I received incredibly warm service that truly showed their hospitality. Considering it was the middle of Golden Week, and with this location and service, I was amazed at the price! This is a hotel I would definitely want to return to.

Absolutely impressed! It truly lives up to its reputation as a resort town – peaceful, beautiful, and with amazing views. The rooms were incredibly clean, the service was excellent, and the onsen was a perfect 100. The classic-style rooms were clean and cozy, with high-quality furniture. I would definitely return if I have the chance. Parking is free for those with cars, and the hotel also offers a shuttle service for train travelers. The food is high-quality, and the restaurant, rooms, onsen, and views are simply stunning.

I initially planned to book a two-night stay but was hesitant due to mixed reviews about the hotel. Instead, I opted to book for one night to see if it met my expectations, intending to decide later whether to extend my stay. After dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, I made up my mind and chose to extend for an additional night. The reception staff spoke good English, making the check-in process smooth. The set dinner and breakfast were delicious, with the restaurant staff being polite and attentive. I must commend the chef for the effort in creating varied menus for both dinner and breakfast each day of our stay. The onsen was quiet and peaceful during my visit around 5 PM. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable; however, the lighting was too dim for my preference. The only downside of my stay was the weak Wi-Fi signal, not just in the room but throughout most areas of the hotel.
