An excellent alternative to staying in Amsterdam Central. This hotel is just a few minutes' walk away from Hoofddorp train station, which is about 20 minutes outside Amsterdam Central but so much cheaper than hotels in Central. If you are visiting the Keukenhof Gardens (which we were), there is also a shuttle bus right at Hoofddorp station, perfect for us.
There is a free shuttle service from Schipol Airport, running throughout the day (pickup from bus bay A9, easy to locate outside Schipol Airport), with a return trip to the airport costing 5 euros per person.
Hotel was clean, room was spacious, and breakfast was a decent spread with hot dishes and pastries. Housekeeping was provided upon request only, so keep that in mind.
Overall, would recommend.
I've been in the hotel several times.
Since I'm alone, I feel very well at the hotel.
Unfortunately, the spa area was not useful on the first day, but it made the stay not less beautiful.
The rooms are small but always super clean.
This will not be my last stay this time. 👍👍👍👍
The room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was cozy, and the view was great, ensuring a good night's sleep. The staff were warm and attentive, providing excellent service. The hotel's location is superb, offering convenient transportation, and the breakfast selection was extensive.

Brilliant hotel. We stayed here for Dekmantel festival. A short bus to the festival site. The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport which was great too. Walking distance to shops to pick up food if you want to cook. Huge spacious rooms, really clean too. The highlight was the wellness centre. The pool was the perfect size, and great having the sauna and steam room. They messed up our booking on the first night but were very apologetic and offered free breakfast for the remainder of our stay.
The hotel's cleanliness wasn't great; there was a thick layer of dust in many areas, which made it feel like housekeeping wasn't thorough enough. It's a shame and a bit of a waste because the hotel's decor and facilities are actually quite nice, and I heard it's an older, well-established hotel. Roomkeeping definitely needs improvement. When I checked out, I mentioned the cleanliness issues to a nice guy at the front desk. He apologized and even waived the parking fee, which was really good service, hats off to him. Breakfast was standard, had everything you'd expect.
The location of this hotel was great. The staff were very efficient in helping us with whatever we needed. We booked a room for three people last minute and we were pleasantly surprised with the excellent service considering that it was one of the more reasonable hotels around and so close to the city centre. Great place and great staff. I will definitely be adding this hotel to my favourite's list.
Excellent service , special thanks extending to Dan at the counter who helped arranged a room meeting my needs. The location is good with bus stop only at the corner outside of the hotel. Room was nice w a comfortable bed. The view of the room was fantastic overseeing the ocean and the bridge. Breakfast was good too.
A good central location to Alkmaar. Good to do by foot or by bike.
A spacious room with a working refrigerator.
Airco did not work enough for us at hot weather. It's set by default.
You can book a sauna in advance well arranged. Sometimes you can get there immediately because there are already people(being)
Breakfast is wide enough. from linseed/haver mout to spice with a stick.
The dining room is in the kelder with beautiful forest decoration view.
There is enough free parking or a paying parking garage.
We had to replace the battery before we had to replace the box, but this would only be done if you weren't hanging a plate at the door. On Day 3, it wasn't restored.
A 200-year-old hotel in a small fishing village
It's really worth staying here
The bath water is a bit small but it doesn’t affect the overall feeling
Be sure to choose a room facing the lake
Get up in the morning and watch the sunrise
Very very worth it
Hygiene: Average. It’s an old store. Many are not so new.
Internet speed is a bit slow
The quilt and pillows are very comfortable
had a great 11-day stay! The hotel was clean and well-maintained throughout my visit. The room was spacious, comfortable, and the Wi-Fi speed was consistently good, which was perfect for my longer stay. The location is ideal if you're looking for a quiet area slightly away from the hustle of the city. It's in a peaceful neighborhood but still very convenient—just a few meters from the Overamstel metro station, making it easy to get around.
They also have great amenities, including a lovely swimming pool and an on-site restaurant that’s both convenient and enjoyable. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would happily come back again.

Great
We stayed at Novotel Amsterdam City in standard twin rooms for a family holiday (6 of us), and overall it was a great experience. Mr. Oman at the reception was super friendly and gave us a warm welcome during check-in. He also helped make sure all our requests were met; connecting rooms, 2 single beds, same floor, and next to each other. Really appreciated that! The only downside was one male receptionist (Middle Eastern-looking) who didn’t seem very welcoming. He was quite passive and seemed unwilling when I asked for help with temporarily storing our luggage.
Clean and well-maintained rooms. Nice pool available, excellent sauna. Very good breakfast buffet. Parking available for a fee. Free airport shuttle included – runs twice per hour at :00 and :30. Friendly staff, convenient location. Highly recommended!
It is a pretty room and really well organized great view and is not far from the airport. Staff from the reception are very welcoming and nice. Also the restaurant staff as well. Very good facilities, indoor swimming pool, two type of sauna, warm and cold shower also gym.
We stayed at De L’Europe for a full week and overall had a very positive experience. The location is excellent, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere feels refined and classic. It’s absolutely one of the better places to stay in Amsterdam. Service, for the most part, was very good — however, housekeeping was inconsistent, which stood out at this level. Multiple times during our stay, housekeeping entered the room after I had already taken off my clothes, despite the room being occupied. Additionally, housekeeping did not proactively replenish the minibar and required requests instead, which felt surprising for a five-star property. On one occasion, the “Please make up my rooms” sign was left up for over six hours, yet service did not follow up later in the day when we were already IN the room, housekeeping arrived while my fiancé was on an important business call. These are small details, but they matter at this price point and could be improved with better communication and timing. The spa is pleasant but basic — clean and relaxing, though it would benefit greatly from the addition of a sauna and steam room, which feels like a missed opportunity for a luxury hotel. That said, the D Suite is the standout choice and highly recommended. It’s spacious (especially for Amsterdam), comfortable, and perfectly suited for business-working couples who need both function and comfort during their stay. Overall, De L’Europe is a great hotel with a prime location and strong potential. With more consistency in housekeeping and a few spa upgrades, it would easily meet — and exceed — five-star expectations. We would absolutely consider staying again.
As you come down the stairs of the train station you can see the hotel sign on your left. It's very closeby, you cross the road and walk down some stairs and have a straight path to the hotel. We arrived late at night but the receptionist was very helpful and even told us about the last order at the restaurant. We also bought the breakfast tickets there, which is a buffet for €15 which was a bargain and got us ready for the day. The hotel was clean, there's a sauna and gym. The room were very spacious and clean. To go to your room you need to scan your card in the lift which added extra layer of safety. There's a bar as well which is open until fairly late and we even stayed in the lobby to play boardgames and other people were there too, which made the atmosphere even cosier. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it's clean, quiet and away from city centre but still very accessible to the centre and a stop away from the airport!
Always have enjoyed the location which is only within a ten-minute walk from the main train station of Amsterdam. Often I reserve the spa room where an enormous soak tub/jacuzzi is included. Very friendly staffs!
Hotel is located near Bijlmer ArenA, few minutes from metro station and train station. 17 minutes from the central station of Amsterdam. It’s great location to explore cities and towns in Holland by train. Checking-in and out were smooth. Room is nicely designed, with comfy bed and pillows. Bathroom was clean but shower is huge disappointment - you are handling (switching on/off and regulate temperature) by electronic buttons which were poorly working - water was off itself, jumping from warm to cold in few moments. You can’t regulate the pressure which was rather disappointing. There is free tea and coffee as well as water in the fridge. Fridge wasn’t clean and there was a half-empty bottle of water left by another guest… Room is not cleaned everyday. Even I booked cleaning on Sunday it wasn’t cleaned. Reception staff was friendly and helpful.
GGuest UserBeautiful hotel from the moment you walk in the doors rooms are well presented clean and a good size for Amsterdam, my only issue was the mattress toppers were beyond worn and all bubbley which made it feel like the bed was full of crumbs which made for a sleepless night, other then that the the staff were as friendly and warm as could be which just added to the hotels overall charm.
The only hotel for future stays in Amsterdam! Perfect in every detail and way! It's truly worth the money as it separates the wannabe's from those who actually have it!
