Overall a nice trip, and a pretty fancy hotel for the price. I would consider it more like a 4**** hotel than a 5 star, personally. highlights: - beautiful lobby and view from our room of the mountains, beach, etc. - kind people at the desk and otherwise. very safe inside even though neighborhood is a bit sketchy at times. - great bed, windows, bathtub, etc.. - affordable as an american for level of service. - spa and rooftop restaurant are amazing. gym is great too! dealbreakers: (may stop me from booking next time) - wifi was basically broken the entire time in our room, and in the hotel at times. less than 10mbits, and no signal in most of our room. front desk said several times they'd fix but I don't think they have the ability to actually fix it. many other people had this issue as well. at a 5* hotel, this should not be happening. major issue, had to do meetings in the lobby to get it to function at all. - breakfast is *good* but definitely caters towards a local brazilian diet (very few options for vegans). as a vegetarian, I'll just say I ate a lot of eggs and cheese. but hey, that's brazil so not digging on the hotel too much on that. - elevator is incredibly busy, and there were times where it literally said ”not available” and we had to wait 5 minutes to actually use it. - there are *TONS* of families with kids in and around the pool when we went. so environment was quite loud and crazy most of the time. they do timeshares so I think mostly big families frequent the hotel. - we booked and paid extra for the *Junior Suite* (with a large living room as well as bath). the front desk gave us the *room with bath* which ended up being nice.. but is half the size, and refused to put us in the junior suite room, even after showing the reservation. this may be a Trip.com issue instead of the hotel.. but they didn't offer any compensation or flexibility for us. trip did refund us the difference in price though. overall, its a great deal for the price, and the architecture is amazing, the room is nice, good water pressure. horrible wifi and very few vegetarian options made it difficult to recommend again, but we liked our stay nonetheless.

I’d describe this hotel as utilitarian. No decor or warmth at all. The common areas are spacious and quite bare.Table and chairs at the restaurant are plain brown wood, The lobby is sparsely furnished with some worn , drab and very uncomfortable seats. Bathrooms are the same. Just the very bare essentials, not even a box of tissue paper ( and thin toilet paper) We travelled long hours,  arrived at 22:00 looking forward to a good shower …not to be. We were up for a bad start. There  was just a trickle of water not enough to bathe or properly brush teeth either. That could have been a whole area problem as we were told that water pressure can sometimes drop in some areas of the city. We changed rooms , water pressure  wasn’t much better the next day either, the water flow improved just a little and remained as such the whole week. We had paid for 5 nights and ended up staying as the city was packed that week . To go looking for another hotel during the G20 summit which Rio was hosting that week of November 2024 would not be an easy task.  On the positive side, staff was pleasant and accommodating, bed was comfortable and from our perspective, the breakfast buffet was the best feature of this hotel offering abundant variety of  food to meet all tastes- cereal, fruits and cheeses, cold cuts, several hot savory breakfast  dishes - incl. some Brazilian regional dishes as well, a huge selection of breads, cakes, good coffee, and more. Very satisfying. Including breakfast in the booking is highly recommended.  The good fare offered at the hotel at lunch and dinner not good at all. However, there are also three of four restaurants lined up on a small stretch within 5 min walking distance of the hotel- one of them is a very good authentic European Portuguese cuisine and wine. Aprox. US$ 52 for a meal for two. On the same cluster of shops there is a well established Brazilian cuisine restaurant with a good menu where one can eat well for anything  between US$ 12  to US$ 15 and a steak house similar to the Australian Outback steak house.  There are also other eateries snd convenience shops, a pharmacy on the same stretch ( 5 min walk ffrom the hotel) including a 24 hr laundromat where one can expect to wash and dry a load for about US$ 7.  As for location, this hotel is not close to the most well known districts of Rio - places like Copacabana, Ipanema , Leblon - but Barra da Tijuca is a special area in itself and arguably has the best beach in town. The hotel is just a 10 - 15 min taxi ride to Barra Shopping-  the largest and best shopping mall in the whole state of Rio de Janeiro where one can find anything,  including restaurants (recommend trying Jappa all you can eat Japanese food spread for US$ 26 as in Nov 2024). On the whole , when compared with the fashionable and pricey districts of Copacabana , Ipanema Leblon  this hotel is good value for money . I’d stay there again if they fixed the shower situation b’cause this feature matters for me.

My wife and I love everything in the hotel!!! Very smellful!!! That's the perfect breakfast!!!! The only detail is the parking of the hotel that is limited and doesn't carry, there you have to leave the car out, but that has not overtaken the experience. Thank you.

The location is top-notch—right on Copacabana—with the highest pool on the 30th floor; unfortunately, the pool is very small, sometimes there are no towels; there are no changing rooms—showering and changing in the sauna is possible 😉 Recommended upgrade to super luxury, which includes breakfast in the restaurant on the 30th floor with a view of Copacabana—great. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi is a pain 🥹 constantly having to reconnect—much cheaper hotels can do better 🙄

The room is large, with a large balcony that overlooks the beach. The decoration is relatively old. Breakfast is a variety of breads and pastries, too sweet, and the grilled sausages are too salty. There is a private beach and swimming pool with a nice view. It is near a wealthy area with good security and many people outside at night.

Very good hotel, standard service, friendly service, cleanliness is OK, the only detail to point out is the lack of an iron ... has one unit, and it is still broken, it is a cheap tool, can not be missing in this size of hotel. I suggest you have a great experience.

GGuest UserWe booked two rooms with the hotel: a junior suite and a standard. The suite was very spacious and opened up to the street. The windows did a good job of blocking sound so the street didn’t disturb our sleep at night. They had a parking garage that charges R$33 per day and was able to accommodate our Jeep Commander. What is warranting this poor review was the hotel staff. Upon check-in they had informed us that one of our rooms wasn’t paid for even though i had already been charged by the booking agency. He said that we had opted for pay later and they hadn’t received the payment from the booking agency. I told them that my card had been charged by the booking agency but he insisted that it was likely a hold on the card to secure the room. I’d suggested to call the booking agency but he insisted that it wouldn’t be necessary (he didn’t seem worried so I assumed he had experience with this). Come to find that I was charged twice for this room and the booking agency has been trying to get in contact with the hotel for over a week with no response. This seems like FRAUD. The second issue. Upon checkout of our suite, the lady checking us out requested a gratuity payment for the included breakfast… she estimated that based on the value of their breakfast that the suggested 10% gratuity would come out to R$180 per person. That would make their self-service breakfast be valued hire than Michelin restaurants in the area. She tried to ask the other party that was traveling with us but when I came closer she gave up. I’m wondering if this is hotel policy or if the staff at this hotel are actually running scams from the front desk. I am still trying to get a hold of them about the double charge.

GGuest UserHotel room is huge, the facility is a bit old and the windows are not top to bottom, but I still get amazing views.. There's no free bottled water provided. This is a very odd thing for a five star hotel. I used the spa treatment as well, it was okay. The location is very good, right next to the beach. There is a big supermarket nearby.

GGuest User1. Rio de Janeiro's security isn't as bad as I'd imagine, especially at this hotel. It's right next to the JW Marriott Hotel, and police cars patrol the area daily. The beach across from the hotel (Copacabana Beach) also felt safe. I stayed there for four nights and went there four times: once in the evening, twice in the morning, and once at noon. In summary: Copacabana Beach is quite long, and I personally felt the beach across from the hotel was very safe. (Please pay close attention to your personal safety when traveling; this is my personal feeling. I'm not responsible for any accidents!) 2. There are plenty of restaurants around and behind the hotel, with prices ranging from 20 to 200 RMB per person, which felt safe! (Please pay close attention to your personal safety when traveling; this is my personal feeling. I'm not responsible for any accidents!) The hotel's own restaurant (order your own food) was also quite good! The breakfast was also good, with fruit, meat, cheese, vegetables, various breads and cakes, and a variety of drinks! (I'm a budget traveler with limited experience and limited knowledge. If this review affects you, please don't blame me, and please book a more expensive, higher-end hotel.) 3. The front desk service was excellent and welcoming, and they didn't deliberately snub Chinese people! We could all communicate in English. The hotel entrance was supposedly open 24 hours a day (I didn't go out after 10:00 PM, but there were staff standing by when I returned at 9:30 PM). There were staff on duty, so it was very safe! 4. The hotel room was very nice! (I'm a budget traveler with limited experience and limited knowledge. If this review affects you, please don't blame me, and please book a more expensive, higher-end hotel.) The room wasn't too big, but it was perfectly adequate! It could open a large suitcase, had a balcony, a refrigerator, a safe, and a TV. The bathroom was adequate, the shower water was large and hot, and the temperature was easily adjustable. The air conditioner didn't blow directly on me or the bed! 5. Summary: I'm not a hotel professional, and neither the hotel nor Ctrip has given me any credit. I'm writing this based on my conscience. Brazil is far from China, and not many people know much about it. I was quite intimidated by some biased reviews before arriving, but after arriving, I found Brazil quite pleasant. The weather in Rio de Janeiro is a bit like Kunming, China, with spring-like weather year-round (I didn't experience it in the summer, but at least the winter wasn't cold). Brazilians are also very welcoming, and the cost of living is relatively low, far lower than in various tourist destinations in China, such as the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Tickets are also quite affordable! Regarding safety: I was only in Rio de Janeiro for six days, and I didn't find anything negative. I visited many tourist attractions, and the safety seemed good there. I believe it's best to avoid crowded or crowded places alone, and avoid staying out too late. You should be fine! (Please pay close attention to your personal safety when traveling. This is my personal opinion. I will not be held responsible for any accidents!) 6. My WeChat: *********. If you're planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro, feel free to add me and I'll give you some advice! Finally, I think Rio de Janeiro is a great place for independent travel, and the more people there are, the better. Just be sure to pay attention to your own safety. Rio de Janeiro isn't Japan, Singapore, or Switzerland. You need to be careful! (Please pay close attention to your personal safety when traveling. This is my personal opinion. I will not be held responsible for any accidents!)
