I always stay here whenever i come to Kuala Terengganu.. Comfortable and very satisfied with the environment.. Location wise. City centered. Easy to get food and the malls just walking distance.. Beautiful view..the sea and the drawbridge. Satisfied. Ive a pleasant stayed..
I recently stayed here and had a fantastic experience. If you are looking for a hotel that values your time and offers incredible convenience, this is the place to be.
What I Loved:
Efficient Service: The service was absolutely perfect. It was straightforward and efficient—no time wasted during check-in or check-out, which I truly appreciated.
Spotless Rooms: Both the room and the toilet were sparkling clean and met my expectations perfectly. It’s clear the housekeeping team takes pride in their work.
Great Facilities: The hotel facilities are solid, including a very convenient café located on the ground floor—perfect for a quick bite or coffee.
Prime Location: This is the hotel’s strongest suit! Everything is within walking distance, including plenty of eating places, a self-service laundry, and convenience stores. You really have everything you need right at your doorstep.
Final Verdict:
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a decently priced stay surrounded by endless amenities. I will definitely be back!
The hotel is very close to Kuala Terengganu Airport, about a fifteen-minute walk. The room was spacious, clean, and tidy, making for a very comfortable stay. The staff were enthusiastic and helpful. Definitely recommended!
The hotel is right next to Chinatown (about a 10-minute walk). Luckily, there's a 7-Eleven downstairs where you can grab essentials, and a pharmacy too. For the price, I think it's fantastic value for money! The room was comfortable, and it had a window with good natural light. The only minor drawback was that the mirror was a bit dirty, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly.
✅ Main Advantages
1. Very Strategic Location
The hotel is located right in the heart of Kuala Terengganu city, near Kampung Cina / Jalan Kg Cina — making it very convenient to reach Pasar Payang, souvenir shops, dining spots, or just take a relaxing walk around.
Many guests have mentioned that the location is “hard to beat” and “super convenient.”
So if you “like staying here because it’s close to Pasar Payang,” this hotel definitely meets that expectation.
2. Charming Boutique Design & Atmosphere
The hotel features a vintage/colonial Malay–Chinese (Peranakan) style with distinctive decorative and furniture details.
Many guests appreciate the beautiful and “Instagrammable” interior design and room decor.
3. Decent Rooms & Good Value for Money
While it’s not a luxury hotel, most guests feel that for the location and price, it’s a great choice. For example, the “Superior King” room starts from around RM190+ during normal seasons.
Reviews generally mention that the rooms are clean and comfortable, providing a satisfying experience overall.
⸻
⚠️ Disadvantages / Things to Note
1. Room Size
Some guests mentioned that the rooms are rather small, especially for two to three people or if you have large luggage.
So, if you’re traveling with your wife and two young children, it’s better to choose a larger room (like the “Deluxe Family”) for more space.
2. Facilities & Minor Details Could Be Improved
• Some reviews said the air conditioning control could be better — the room felt warm even at low settings.
• Limited parking: the hotel provides open-air parking, but spaces are quite few.
• Some rooms have slightly quirky layouts, such as glass bathrooms or sinks placed outside the bathroom.
• A few guests felt that staff service could be more friendly (though this is not a common issue).
3. Family Rooms
If you’re staying with young children, confirm the “Family” room type to ensure it’s suitable — for example, check if there’s any glass wall in the bathroom. Make sure the room setup is family-friendly.
⸻
🎯 Who Is It Suitable For?
• Ideal for couples or small families who want the best central location and the ability to walk easily to markets, shops, and eateries.
• Less suitable if you need a large space, luxury facilities, or ample parking — in that case, other hotels might be more appropriate.
⸻
📝 Tips for Your Stay
• Book a larger room (e.g. Deluxe or Family) if traveling with family for better comfort.
• Arriving early or late? Check parking first — you may need to unload your luggage before parking.
• If possible, request a room with a window, as some reviews mentioned that “windowless rooms” can feel stuffy.
• Bring light clothing or t-shirts, as even with air-conditioning, some rooms felt a bit warm.
• When exploring Pasar Payang or Kampung Cina on foot, go in the morning or late afternoon to avoid traffic and parking congestion.

✅ Conclusion
In summary, The Payang Hotel is an excellent choice if your top priority is staying very close to Pasar Payang and downtown Kuala Terengganu, while enjoying a charming boutique atmosphere.
With a bit of compromise on room size and a few minor facilities, you’ll still get a comfortable and practical stay in a highly convenient location.
Overall, everything was good and we had a pleasant stay. The kids were very happy with two waterparks and a big swimming pool, which was a big plus for families.
However, on the first day, there was water on the floor in the room. Not sure whether it came from the air conditioner or due to heavy rain, but it might be good for the management to check.
The location is quite far from the city, so it’s more suitable for those who want to relax rather than go shopping or explore food spots. That said, Pok Nong Ikan Celup Tepung is only about 15 minutes away, which is convenient.
Overall, a nice place for a relaxing family getaway.
Here’s a natural English translation along with a polished room review:
The room was spacious with a beautiful sea view, which we really enjoyed. It was generally well maintained, but the swimming pool had a few missing tiles, which could be dangerous to step on.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay thanks to the comfortable room and lovely view. However, some maintenance improvements, especially in the pool area-would make the experience even better.
The hotel's facilities are very modern and the ambiance is incredibly elegant. Whenever we had a request, the staff were always responsive and the room was spotlessly clean. It was a really excellent stay.

GGuest UserThe place is ok .. not very clean, not very dirty .. just a bit noisy because there is a badminton court, right .. because I have a newborn .. but overall it's ok, no complain because there's no hotel holiday, right
AAnonymous UserIt's normal but it's ok to have a place to sleep and rest for a while. But don't expect anything fancy. The budget hotel is really old-fashioned but it's good to have a coway. The bed is not hard, the shower tap water is fast.

AAnonymous UserIt's close to the city. I opted for the optional VIP parking right in front of the hotel (RM10/night), which was very convenient as public parking spots can often be full if you return late. Overall, the room was great and I was very satisfied. The air conditioning was cold, and the water heater worked perfectly.
I booked the family suite with 4 single beds specifically for a ground floor room. The iron was located just outside, conveniently close to the room in the corridor.
There was a Coway water dispenser, which was handy for refilling water or making instant noodles.
EewtayGreat place to stay in the Kuala Terengganu city center.
We stayed 2 nights on business travel and this hotel provided everything we needed!
And i'm extra happy with the Iron and Iron board they provided!
GGuest UserRun down resort but clean room.
Toilet needs repair work otherwise all is acceptable.
Seaview room has direct seaview so it is a plus point
Breakfast spread not so great but acceptable
Overall ok
