Our stay at Oldfields House was outstanding we were shown our room then offered another with a stunning four post bed, which we settled into quite quickly. The staff on check in were amazing and fixed us up promptly and courteously. Breakfast was delicious and filling and our coffee was perfect.
This is an excellent hotel. Our (comfort) twin room was clean, spacious and quiet, the public rooms are comfortable and stylish and the service was excellent. Being regular visitors to Bath we were a little concerned the hotel location and value was too good to be true and we were delighted to be proved wrong. £15 a night for parking in Bath is well priced and while the hotel is up a steep hill, this is far from unexpected in Bath! We were able to walk everywhere and late check-in meant we could be confident of a smooth arrival after our evening show when we arrived in Bath too early for our room to be ready. Highly recommended.
We booked the suite which was enough for 4 persons. Love the whole vibe of this hotel and how clean it was. The upstairs bedroom had a jacuzzi as well with lux bathrobes. Both the floors had TV and the bathroom had all amenities except toothpaste. The coffee counter had different varieties or teas, coffee and hot chocolate along with some biscuits as well.
absolutely love this place!! would definitely want to stay here again in my next visit. the breakfast had a good variety and really local, room is very pretty and big too
We had a delightful stay at The George Hotel. The staff were exceptionally kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome. While the rooms are a little dated, they were warm, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious, served hot, and offered a great selection—even our fussy son found something to enjoy! We would be more than happy to stay here again.
The service at this hotel was excellent. Due to an unexpected change in our travel plans, we had to modify our original two-day stay, changing both the dates and duration. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, and kindly waived any change or cancellation fees.
For parking, you need to get a discount code from the front desk, which brings the cost down to £17.5. Otherwise, it's £50 for 24 hours.
PS: A few days after we checked out, an unpleasant incident happened. We had definitely paid for parking when we left, but a few days later, the hotel emailed us, claiming we hadn't paid and threatening a £35 fine. My advice to anyone renting a car in the UK is to always keep your receipts for parking fees and any other similar expenses.
Faultless hotel. Great location. Comfortable and clean room and the lady on check in point was super friendly.
Great value for money and defo stay here again
The hotel logo is not clear, the appearance photos are inconsistent with the online ones, and it is difficult to find by car. The booked room is completely different from the one introduced on xc and the area is small. You have to send an email before you check in. If you don't check in at the specified time, it is very troublesome. Hotel location is not bad, about 16 minutes walk from the attraction. The interior decoration of the room is very English, the breakfast variety is very good, and it is delicious.
The hygiene was acceptable, but the view wasn't great, even though I booked a room with a view. The staff was very good; one even helped me with my luggage to the room because the elevator doesn't go to the third floor, so there's one flight of stairs to climb. We had a bit of a language barrier – I couldn't understand him, and I'm sure he had trouble understanding me. Plus, the fire alarm went off during check-in, which caused a long delay before I could get to my room.

GGuest UserThe hotel had great location and tasty breakfast. The room was nice and good toilet. Great room service for bringing your delivered food to your room for you. However the staff needs to improve their communication skill and knowledge. I was told that I could buy breakfast prior to the day I want the breakfast and I didn’t have to book a time slot. However when I wanted to check out I was told that I was charged the price of the breakfast that is bought on the day, not the day prior. I later talked to the staff and they understood their staffs mistake. The hotel doesn’t have dinner service I was told.
LLiam and JennyAttended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful.
We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest.
The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss.
One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go.
Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109.

GGuest UserIt was a very special reunion for a group of nurses celebrating 50 years since we started our course in May 1975. In those days this hotel was a nurse's home and we all lived here for around 18 months. We had booked lunch, the food was lovely and the service was amazing. We so enjoyed our stay, 5 of us stayed for one or two nights. So beautiful and peaceful, couldn't have been better. Benice organised things for us, highly recommend her if you are booking an event.
GGuest UserI was really worried that I would have a room further away. Lucky we had took next to each other and a door in between each room. So we can be close but separate at the same time. Booked here as my children love the vhooxe of breakfast!

KKazovnThis is a bit out of the way but OK if you are touring the area. A rather faded Edwardian large hotel that is in need of a bit of renovation and redecoration to bring it up to standard. Our room was a bit small and showing its age. The staff were friendly
AannamimiA very good hotel. A welcome card and red wine were given when checking in. Cheese, small biscuits with cheese and fig jam were given when checking out. Drinks and beer in the refrigerator were free. The room was cleaned very clean every day. Bottled water and glasses were placed on the bedside before going to bed every day. A lipstick and a sleep-aid fragrance were placed in the corner of the quilt. It is said that this is the only hotel with natural hot springs in Bath. The hot spring feels very good. Many parts of the body can be sprayed with water for massage. After the hot spring, there are dry steam, wet steam and infrared steam. The quilt in the room is very comfortable, light and warm. It should be goose down. English breakfast, milk tea is good👍
The improvement is that the bathroom shower is not separated into dry and wet. After taking a shower carefully, there is still a lot of water on the ground!
The location is very good, just near Bath Baths and Bath Abbey, and there are many restaurants around.
The mother of a young handsome man at the front desk is from Hong Kong, China, and can speak some Chinese. I will choose this hotel next time I stay in Bath🏨
GGuest UserThe hotel is attractive and full of charm, with a pleasant aspect facing the church, however, the surrounding area of Bridgwater is rather run down. Staff were very efficient and checked us in quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the restaurant as it was closed due to it being Father's Day. Our room was ok, and had a large bathroom with both shower and separate bath. There was plenty of hot water available, but aware that it was almost scalding when allowed to run without cold added. The bed was comfortable and the room well equipped with tea facilities, ironing board and iron and hair dryer. Due to the age of the building, there was a lot of noise from residents walking around in the rooms above ours, but it wasn't too obtrusive. Breakfast was very good with a choice of full English or continental and my gluten allergy was catered for. If you need to stay in Bridgwater, then I would recommend The Old Vicarage, but we would probably look in the villages further out of the town in future.
GGuest UserI booked a deluxe double room for just one night. We were very happy with our room, which was spacious, clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows.
The welcome from Reception was warm and friendly.
There is parking at the hotel but this is run by NCP and costs just under £10 for a 24 hour stay. Payment is via an APP so I suggest installing that on your phone before you arrive. There is not the option to pay by cash or card at the machine.
The hotel itself is very charming, with individually decorated bedrooms and a host of period features and furniture in the public rooms. We were meeting my son for dinner in a nearby restaurant for dinner so cannot comment on the Dining Room and we opted out of breakfast as we had an early lunch arranged. We did enjoy some cocktails in Brazz, where the service and quality of the drinks were appreciated.
