Whispers of Brick and Tile: A Century-Long Narrative Poem of Sinan Mansions.

Sinan Mansions, also known as Sinan Road Historic District, is a complex of predominantly garden villas located in Huangpu District, Shanghai. Sinan Mansions boasts 51 preserved historical buildings, bordered by Fuxing Middle Road to the south, Sinan Road on both sides, and Chongqing South Road to the west. It showcases a variety of architectural styles, including detached garden villas, semi-detached garden villas, detached garden villas with courtyards, terraced buildings, veranda-style buildings, new-style lilongs (lane houses), garden lilongs, and modern apartments. It represents a concentrated collection of Shanghai's modern residential architecture. Notable figures such as Zhou Enlai, Zeng Pu, Mei Lanfang, and Liu Yazi once resided here. Famous buildings include Mei Lanfang's former residence at No. 87 Sinan Road and Zhou Enlai's former residence (Zhou Gongguan) at No. 73. On November 5, 2021, the Xintiandi-Sinan Mansions area in Huangpu District was designated as one of the first national-level nighttime cultural and tourism consumption clusters by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This area is not only a popular spot for photos but also one of the filming locations for the movie Tiny Times 3. Sinan Books, located in the heart of the area, is a must-visit for literary and artistic youth. Young people come here to take photos, relax, and enjoy the cultural atmosphere.
