Hiroshima, a special travel story where the past and present coexist

#July Travel Support Fund Hiroshima was the city that gave me the most calm and deep impression during my trip to Japan. It still had the scars of war, but it was impressive to see it conveying a message of peace and hope. The first place I visited was the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome. I naturally slowed down in front of the Atomic Bomb Dome, which still bears the marks of war, and at the Peace Memorial Museum, I had many thoughts while looking at vivid records and artifacts from that time. The Peace Bell, monument, and numerous paper cranes placed in the park contained the wish that such a tragedy would never happen again. The next stop was a boat ride to Miyajima. The red torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, which seemed to float on the sea, was truly spectacular. The scenery changed depending on the high and low tides, allowing me to experience the charm twice, and the deer freely walking around the shrine added to the fun of the trip. Hiroshima was also famous for its food. Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, layered and grilled on an iron plate, was soft and flavorful, and the fresh Hiroshima oyster dish had a light and rich flavor. Lastly, I visited Hiroshima Castle. Although it was a restored building after the war, it blended in well with the surrounding scenery and had a nice, quiet feel. I was able to learn about Hiroshima's other history through the exhibits inside the castle. Hiroshima was a city that remembered its painful history but was reborn as a symbol of peace, and it was a travel destination where you could enjoy nature, tradition, and even gourmet food.
