Hiroshima, a travelogue that deeply felt the meaning of peace

#July Travel Support Fund Hiroshima was the most special and calming city in Japan. Although the pain of war still remains, there were many spaces that spoke of peace and hope, which made the trip even more meaningful. The first stop was the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome. In front of the Atomic Bomb Dome, which still retains the traces of war, my steps naturally slowed down, and at the Peace Memorial Museum, records and relics from that time were on display, which made me feel solemn. The peace bells and paper cranes placed throughout the park contained the wish that such a tragedy would never happen again. After that, I took a boat to Miyajima. The red torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, which seemed to float on the sea, was truly spectacular, and the scenery changing with the tide was so mystical. Deer roamed freely around the area, creating a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Hiroshima was also famous for its gourmet food. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, layered on an iron plate, was rich and filling, and the fresh Hiroshima oyster dish was light and savory, which was really satisfying. Lastly, I toured Hiroshima Castle. Although it was a restored building, it gave a calm feeling as it matched the quiet scenery around it, and the exhibition inside the castle allowed me to understand Hiroshima's history and culture more deeply. Hiroshima is a city that symbolizes peace while remembering the pain of the past, and it was a travel destination where you can enjoy nature, tradition, and gourmet food.
