"Within walking distance from the airport international terminal , rooms were big enough for suitcases and packing - needs a little more updating on the TV (non smart) and toilet facilities The best part is that they have a water dispenser at the common area -filtered water was tasty !"

"Great location — just a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport, and an Uber costs about 150 ZAR. The rooms are clean and comfy. Since it's so close to the airport, you can hear planes taking off at night — didn't bother me much, but good to know if you're a light sleeper. One heads-up: I couldn't find clear info about the hotel shuttle — times and pick-up point weren't listed anywhere, so I just took a taxi. Once I arrived, I found out that the shuttle actually runs every 30 minutes from the Intercontinental Hotel at OR Tambo Airport. Would be great if that info was easier to find beforehand! Overall, a solid stay — clean, convenient, and good value."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect airport hotel with such a cool aviation theme ✈️ I really enjoyed my stay at Protea Hotel by Marriott O.R. Tambo Airport. If you need somewhere to stay before or after a flight from O.R. Tambo, the location is incredibly convenient — the hotel is only about 3.5 km from the airport and provides a complimentary airport shuttle, which makes travelling so much easier. The first thing that stood out to me was the aviation theme. It’s carried throughout the hotel, from the aeroplane-inspired artwork to the industrial-style furniture and décor. Even my room continued the theme, which gave it so much more character than a typical airport hotel. My room was clean, modern and comfortable, with a very comfortable bed, TV, tea and coffee facilities and a small fridge. I also really liked the rainfall shower and the overall open, contemporary bathroom design. The hotel’s rooms are soundproofed too, which is definitely appreciated considering how close you are to the airport. The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour gym and an on-site restaurant called The Warehouse, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is available as well, so you really don’t need to leave the property if you’re only there for a short stopover. What I liked most was that it actually feels like an airport hotel in the best possible way. ✈️ The aeroplane photographs, aviation-style furniture and little design details make the property interesting and memorable rather than just somewhere convenient to sleep. Overall, I would definitely recommend Protea Hotel O.R. Tambo Airport for layovers, early-morning flights, late arrivals or even an overnight stay between connecting flights. "I was transferring from Johannesburg to Shanghai when I called the service, and they ordered a taxi to pick me up. At first, my card was declining, but they were so patient until the payment went through. They were very kind, and the service was great. Every time I visit Johannesburg, I will be staying there. The apartment had two separate bedrooms, but I only used one, along with a kitchen and living room suitable for two families. I really enjoyed my stay."

"A mid-range business hotel with great location and convenient The hotel is in a relatively safe area and very convenient, with two supermarkets, a cafe, and a pharmacy right on-site. The buffet breakfast was good too. While the room was generally clean and well-maintained, I was disappointed to find a lot of hair left in the drawer where the hairdryer was kept."
