As an experienced business and leisure traveller, I was very disappointed with this hotel, which is definitely not five star. The rooms are shabby and very few of the staff are properly trained or can understand English. We booked a Delux and were given a damp dark room in the basement with a caterpillar in the shower. We insisted on changing rooms but the only available room was a suite (a nice spacious room with private pool) which cost us an additional $100. The buffet was ok, with some good Indian options, but not outstanding or very extensive. Front desk staff were generally unfriendly and did not make us feel welcome. I do not recommend staying here unless you can get a huge discount and are happy with a mediocre hotel.
Breakfast is still good. But the room really feels that the price is very low. The room of 500 is shown below. Two 0.9-stitched beds, no place to put the suitcase, so moving out of the balcony can only say that the room is really small, the balcony to see is the picture is very scattered. This hotel is really lively, I feel very depressed, so I checked out after one night. In fact, Bentota has a lot of family-friendly B&Bs with good value for money. Generally, the breakfast is good for 250 packs. Come to Bentota and recommend staying at the B&B. This hotel is the second worst tourist in Lanka. There is no clothes to dry clothes. People who may live here do not wash clothes. It’s not good to go into the whole person. The swimming pool is a nice view and very close to the beach. This price is not recommended. Can be better.
I highly recommend this hotel. Although it is a certain distance from Yala Park, the hotel is very well designed, with lake views, clean and tidy, a large swimming pool, various birds in the garden, squirrels jumping around, turtles in the pond, and we also saw lizards of all sizes, they are very timid and very cute. We stayed for two days and enjoyed it very much. If you also like to get close to nature, you can't go wrong with this hotel.
A very comfortable trip, must go to the beach! The beachfront hotel is really the highlight of the trip. Because it is an environmentally friendly hotel, remember to ask for disposable utensils such as toothbrushes from the front desk in advance.
The hotel is relatively new, located close to the sea, with its own beach and beautiful scenery. It is a 15-minute drive from the ancient city. It has its own independent parking garage, just across the road from the hotel. There is also a Persian Kitchen next to it that serves good Iranian barbecue.
The service is very average. I had to call several times to send an ice bucket, slippers, etc., and finally I had to go downstairs myself. The breakfast is also average.
There is also a stilt fisherman on the beach near the hotel.
The standard of this hotel and it's rooms, is exceptional!
Definetly 10 out of 10 for mine ,as l have stayed in 100,s of hotels around the world over the past 30 years,( except for Covid)
it;s not beach front ,but it is only a short scenic walk to a great beach area any way!
The staff where very friendly and helpful in advice on where to visit etc.
Would certainly stay again ,and l recomend this hotel to any one wishing to stay in this area.
Facilities: Old hotel, old facilities, but well maintained.
Hygiene: Very good.
Environment: Perfect.
Service: As soon as you enter the lobby, there is an interesting welcome gift, which is the container in the picture below. The spices are mixed with rock sugar and taste very strange. The waiters are very patient.
Perfect location, not so far to Yala National Park and with a nice lake view.
Amazing swimming pool and English breakfast too.
The rooms are a bit old and not renoviated but the staff there was very amazing and always helpful.
Thank you
The hotel is not bad, I think the price is too high, but overall we were happy with our stay here. The room is large, the balcony is huge with a view of the ocean, on the balcony there is a wonderful large sofa and chairs, it is comfortable (we were in a corner, so it was quiet). Cleaning every day, it was strange that slippers, toothbrushes were not provided or not at all, maybe you need to ask for everything, but I think that upon check-in everything should be provided immediately, and then upon request (but now this practice is everywhere in hotels). Well, the fact that the turtles are right on our beach is a plus, when tour groups leave, you can calmly enjoy communicating with them.
The experience of this hotel is average. First of all, the hygiene of the room is average. The bathroom has a bit of smell. Secondly, the towels don't look very clean. I was woken up by mosquito bites in the middle of the night and saw dozens of mosquito bites on my feet. It's really unbearable. I haven't had such a bad experience in so many days. However, the location of the hotel is good. It is in Coco Bay and faces the beach. The breakfast is not a buffet, but a meal ordering form. I didn't expect that the taste is good, because the bread and waffles are baked on the ordering basis, which is particularly fragrant.

Very Good
GGuest UserThere is a problem with the light in the room. After closing, it will flash for half a minute. It has not been repaired. I was awakened at night.

GGuest UserEnvironment: The hotel has its own beach, which is very convenient for walking and clean
Room: Average, I was given a room on the third floor with a view of the golf course. Although it is a bit far to go downstairs to the beach, it is not humid
Service: I asked for water twice at 9 o'clock in the evening, and they promised very well, but they didn't deliver it. The room service is average. It was my mother's birthday, so I booked a cake when I checked in. When we had dinner in the evening, the chef and waiter brought the cake and sang to celebrate for my mother, which was very thoughtful.
Golf: I decided to play golf on a whim. The playing and tips were very cheap, but renting balls and buying gloves and balls was very expensive!!! It's outrageous. If you want to play golf, at least bring your own gloves and balls. Don't come here to buy expensive ones that make you want to cry. The golf course is well maintained, and the caddies are generally professional but full of emotions.
BBENABOU MOHAMMED AMINEIt was great but a bit pricey. There isn’t much around the area as there’s in Weligama or Merissa but it was worth it for a last night of lazing out before flying out.
CClair SheehanJaga Bay Resort was fantastic! I arrived in town and the place I had booked did not have my booking and Jaga Bay came to the rescue.
This is a family run local business. Jaga the owner supports local children with their education through his own personal donations and those of past guests. I was being a sticky beak one morning as a crowd of women and children were having a little ceremony and thanking Jaga. He explained to me that since the tsunami the hotel and past guests supported orphaned children to finish their schooling. There are only two children left so now they support local children in need. This warmed my heart so much as I saw such genuine support and appreciation with everyone there.
I was in Weligama before a friend's wedding and was in desperate need for an under garment for my Sari. Jaga's wife and main office lady went above and beyond for me on new years eve...I managed to find an awesome tailor, personalised tuktuk driver's and first class service...and the best breakfast view!
I will always come back here.
Thank-you so much!
JjainRajatExcellent location. Quite nearby to mirissa harbour and weligama. Liked the property. They arranged a candle lit dinner setting nearby beach as it was my honeymoon on request for no additional charges.
Liked the beach, the swimming facilities and the buffet for dinner as well as breakfast.
Arranged breakfast box as i had to go on whale watching and would have missed my breakfast.
Very nice staff.
Only thing they can improve is a bit quick on service as we had to call multiple times for getting our room cleaned.
HHUANThe hotel is very close to the Marriott. It can be seen from the beach. The service staff are very friendly (the front desk person with fat eyes and round eyes is super nice). This place has a lot of surfers from all over the world! Great! The breakfast is rich and delicious
NNizhaobudaowoEnvironment: Beautiful environment, facing the swimming pool and the beach. The sand on the beach is very fine, so you can go without shoes without worrying about the pain.
Service: The cleaning staff is very enthusiastic. Every morning when I come back from playing, there are many fresh flowers on the bed and elephants and dogs made of towels, etc., which makes me feel relaxed immediately!
AAngelinaChengThe hotel facilities are good, and the washbasin in the bathroom is relatively high. There is a separate children's swimming pool, which is relatively dirty. Other pools with a depth of 1.05m can be used. The dining time and check-out time of Ctrip are different from the actual hotel, and the hotel shall prevail. When checking in, the front desk asked for an all-inclusive wristband, but it was not given to us. Later, we downloaded an app of the hotel and learned that only with this wristband can we enjoy the hotel services.
