The hotel is placed just outside of the centre, which a short 5 minute walk. The centre is a busy one so it suited us as a family. Check in and check out was easy as it was all online, so no waiting in long queues, however the front desk does get very busy. The staff were polite and helpful, and the room was clean. One of the lifts wasn’t working which is a small issue as there are 12 floors and a lot of guests, so waiting for them could sometimes be a little stressful. My only gripe is the breakfast. Often the food was cold, or just missing. Coffee machine wasn’t working, it’s badly designed so you can’t move around the food easily. Certain eggs you had to order but we tried that and they never materialised. Plates and bowls in weird places (nothing at all by the toast). It could be run much better. The food was average at best. It really let the hotel down in that respect. Otherwise, everything was fab. You do get noise from the road below but it’s a busy location, so it’s to be expected. We’d definitely stay here again if in the area or if we were going on a cruise the next day.

Arrived at this lovely venue to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary only to find that the 3rd party booking company that we used & paid had not advised us that the Hotel was fully booked. Fortunately the Staff at the resort on reception Adam & his female colleague sorry I did not take her name bent over backwards to try & find a room which they eventually managed with a lot of effort. The hotel was exceptionally busy due to a Wedding & a private party staying over. I was very stressed & upset as this was a special day for us but they made every effort with calmness & professionalism to resolve this problem that was NOT down to the hotel. Room & stay was great. I highly recommend this hotel & the staff not only on reception but throughout the whole hotel during our stay.

I returned to the Leonardo Royal Southampton a year after my last stay to visit the nearby boat show. Check in time is quite late at 16:00 but I checked in online and received an email at 15:15 to say my room was ready. Lovely executive room with a balcony overlooking Southampton. Nice touches like a handwritten welcome note with chocolates on the bed and a Nespresso machine in addition to the kettle and tea/coffee facilities. Very comfortable bed and a very quiet room despite the hotel being full. Prompt, attentive service from the bar and they went above and beyond by fetching Worcestershire sauce to add to my guests tomato juice! I was delighted to see that the bar area has been decorated and the hotel generally was looking more loved with signs of investment. The pool and spa area has also been decorated and was generally looking smarter. It is great that the pool is open from 06:30 to allow a swim before breakfast. The breakfast buffet in Leo's was excellent with a good range of food available. Plenty of freshly cooked hot items available for the full English with smiling, friendly staff toping items up as required. Congratulations to the management for all your efforts in these difficult times for the hospitality industry, these are certainly paying off. I hope that those who have had a less positive experience than me will give you another try. I will certainly be back.

Went to this hotel for family wedding, after reading other reviews I was not looking forward to my stay. I found the staff were friendly. The room we stayed in was clean the bed was comfy. I never heard any noise at night. The breakfast had plenty of choice. The problem we had while staying there the broken toilet seat that was not repaired. My son had booked a family room arrived with his three children at 11.30pm and found the room had one double bed and a single bed the only solution they were given was to squash two z beds into the small room because there were no other rooms,

We arrived a couple days before our cruise and we're glad that we chose this hotel. The location was perfect for us. We took a bus from London and the hotel was about a ten minute walk from the bus terminal. We also did some exploring by train and the train station was also a short walk away. The ”old town” area is nearby as is a huge shopping center. The cruise ship was less than five minutes away by Uber. We checked in at the bar and were quickly on our way to our room. This was our first stay in a Moxy. The room seemed unusual to us, but perhaps that's the Moxy way. There were no drawers, no closet, hooks on the wall for hanging clothes (hangers provided), one shelf on each side of our queen bed and one sheft on the opposite wall. There is a night light under the bed that is activated by a motion sensor. I never saw that before but it worked well. The room had very strong WIFI and there were lots of charging ports for electronics. The bed was quite comfortable. The shower was quite small but had a powerful stream and consistent temperature. There is no tub. The small lobby has books, puzzles, and more. There was even a guitar there (perhaps inviting someone to play?). Breakfast at the bar was included and I thought it was pretty good. I'm happy that we chose this hotel. We'll certainly return for our next Southampton cruise.

The clue to this hotel is in the name. We booked 3 rooms for two nights for the boatshow. To be honest it was basic but perfectly suited our needs. I've just recently stayed at the Waldorf Hotel in London and the Shower in my room was far superior to the one in the Waldorf. It was good value for money for the boatshow weekend £222 per foom for two nights. We had a few issues with room cards etc however Maddison the receptionist politely & efficiently sorted them out and is a credit to the hotel. We will definitely be stopping next year for the boatshow.

Sometimes you get annoying guests. It happens. But the front desk dealt with it swiftly and without fuss. I just asked if they had an alternative room on the same floor to ensure I could get the rest I needed, but they upgraded me and offered help to relocate my belongings. Dealt with so deftly, an unexpected classy touch. Buffet breakfast was very good, freshly served and hot. I saw some reviews to the contrary, but couldn't fault it. Nice surroundings and bar area had a nice atmosphere. Ideal location for being just a short hop away from the harbour area. VG overall experience and would definitely return. Thank you.

This hotel is located next to the highway. It is simple like a motel and is surrounded by McDonald's, coffee shops and small supermarkets. It has complete living facilities. Although it is not luxurious, it is clean and comfortable enough to meet the needs of a good night's sleep. For travelers who are in a hurry, it is a convenient and affordable accommodation option.

I read a few negative reviews before arriving here and I was a bit worried about how my stay would go. I have to say all of theses reviews were proved wrong. We had a really good stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the reception staff especially were constantly working on reception, in the bar and helping clear after meals and breakfast. Our room was very clean and convenient. The only issue is the separate charge for parking. Having to pay on a machine at a hotel is unusual and unnecessary.

This was the worst guesthouse experience I’ve ever had. We arrived around 7:30 on the 18 Oct 24 in the evening when opened the room it looked like it was waiting to be cleaned, the following points were found: 1. The was hair in the sink and shower and the draws (I have photos as proof). 2. There was as a mixture of cups provided for drinks don’t know about Southampton but we use a tea spoon to stir a drink not a fork (again a photo for proof). 3. There was as wardrobe looked like it hadn’t been finished 4. There towel rail was hanging off the wall. 5. There was mould around the base of the shower. 6. When contacted the person blamed his cleaning staff, said we would have a refund, we then left for few days when contacted he, stated that it would take up to 10 days to process, i I then gave, him a few weeks and still have not received the refund. The guesthouse looks like a dos house or somewhere they use for people just out of jail. if anyone is thinking staying there I would think twice before doing so. Needles to say we drove to a premier Inn and stayed there instead of. Still hasn’t received the refund

This was my first time venturing out into the world after the pandemic and a coeliac diagnosis two years ago. The hotel was quite busy on the Friday when I checked in and only one lift was working, but that really was a small niggle. The lift was repaired by the time I returned to the hotel in the early evening. The restaurant was great when it came to catering to my gluten allergy. There were a few options, and the guy at the front of house went the extra mile to check if the fish was fried in the same oil as non-GF food. Unfortunately, that was the case, and I'd suggest that either provision is made for a separate fryer, or the GF designation is taken off that item on the menu. But there were other things I could have, so it wasn't really a problem. Breakfast was excellent. The lovely young lady at the front of house took my order and explained that the chef would prepare it in a GF-section of the kitchen, so I'd have a 15 minute wait. It really wasn't a problem and it was well worth the wait. Beautifully prepared, generous portion. Friendly service. The room was fine. I loved pulling back the curtains in the morning and seeing the massive cruise ships in port. Only quibble was the pillows, but I'm picky. Otherwise the room was nice and clean, and I appreciated the a/c. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is of a certain age. The rooms are small and cozy, with sufficient heating and are clean and tidy. It is very close to Nan'an's main pedestrian street, supermarkets, central park, and museums, and can be reached within ten minutes' walk.

This hotel is where I stay every time I come to Southampton. It has convenient transportation and is very close to the port. You can get there in just five minutes on foot. Decided to book this Novotel as a place to stay for a couple of nights in Southampton for some wedding celebrations. We have previously visited this hotel approx 22 years ago as we had our wedding held at this hotel. So we were familiar with the hotel location and surroundings as we frequently visited Southampton centre for many years over the past 22 years. The location is ideal if you are arriving by coach and train. The coach station is literally on the door step of this hotel , approx 500/600 metres away. The train station is also within walking distance too. You really are in the centre within walking distance of the main shopping centre , the West Quay .John Lewis entrance is only a 10 min walk from this hotel which takes you into the West Quay shopping centre. Novotel has a car park , which is shared with 2 other hotels at this location , including an Ibis hotel. There are plenty of spaces to park, however we arrived off season and I can imagine during the cruise season it can get busy. My only grievance with Novotel is, we booked through the Novotel website and it does say on there that parking is available however you have to pay £10 per night to park your car there. Upon arrival, you just speak with the checking in staff, provide them with your car registration number & they simply register it on their system and you pay them at the counter for your parking.So £20 on top of your hotel booking as we were staying for the 2 nights. We decided not to book any breakfast as on your doorstep is a McDonald’s…literally at the car park entrance….there is also an IKEA store 5 minutes walk from the hotel. You can see it from the hotel rooms.since the hotel is alongside the major road alongside the port, you can walk along there to IKEA and towards the pier.if you’re really lucky , you can admire one of the large cruise liners berthed up…we did , you could look at it from the hotel car park.There is also a TGI Fridays restaurant across the car park entrance at this location and a small retail park with a few shops like Poundland etc. The checking in process was seamless and we got the lift to our room which was one of the top floors. The room was pretty large ..we had a king size bed and a large double sofa bed open for our 2 teenage kids. The room had pretty well insulated windows with some really good blackout curtains. The tv was a decent size and the room also boasts a small fridge with some complimentary bottles of water. There is also a small safe which you can change the lock number on however I’m not sure how secure it can be as these budget safes are battery operated with a manual overide key., but they’re handy if you want to place some small items in there like your car keys etc. I wouldn’t be leaving anything particularly valuable in there or your passports if you’re staying here prior to your cruise….you’re better keeping them with you. The overall ambience of our room was warm welcoming relaxing and comforting which is what you want to

The Ibis Budget Hotel, is a very basic hotel as implies in the name. It's convenient for the accessing the Ferry, town centre by bus. Fratton station with trains to London is less than a10min walk. There is no fancy trimmings here. The room was small, but clean. Offered a continental breakfast. Located in walking distance from supermarket and fast food restaurants. The Bus 1 goes from Gunwharf Ferry to the Southsea Pier; but be careful. This bus changes to a Bus 3 at the Southsea Pier. It carries on another hour plus towards Southampton etc. All in all, the hotel offered my family a good rest after a long day out. The bottom double bed was very comfortable. Perhaps the bunk bit is not best suited to a teenager.

Amazing position, great location. Maria, on reception was a 'star' -what a welcome. Friendly and professional. Treat two pots of ice cream, added bonus. A room off the dining area, first on the right, no miles of walking, excellent. Clean and comfortable, as the bathroom, lovely and clean. Breakfast the usual, seriously manic. Extremely busy, buffet, just warm food, lots of choice, wonderful hash browns. No prisoners taken, still enjoyable. Tables cleaned in between guests, well done. Only down side 'He' has now become a registered disabled, no parking available in the small parking area located on site which was annoying. We parked in the underground Gunwharf car park, the charge was reimbursed which was fine, however, it was an issue for him getting to and from the hotel. Did not spoil our stay, loved it, hopefully will stay again.

Nice hotel，good location，many restaurants nearby，and close to Portsmouth & Southsea station. Very nice staff，especially Hasan！Very enthusiastic and friendly！When we go back to the hotel，he always say hello to us. We feel so happy and warm. In other words，in Chinese we call it “宾至如归”. The meaning of “宾至如归” is guests feel at home. Thank you so much!

Great location, not much parking but the sell permits for £5. I was in the house around the corner from the hotel. Stairs were a bit creaky and it was the most soundproof.

I've been lucky enough to stay at Village Portsmouth around 6 times. Mostly on my own, sometimes with my wife and always when Portsmouth FC have been playing at home. This time my wife went swimming in the morning and said the place was spotless. The breakfast was plentiful as always. We were lucky enough this time to stay in a Club Room 525 which was clean and amazing, but all the rooms I've stated have been 'spot on'.😁 I've found that if you have a question or if something needs sorting out, if you speak to a staff member it's 'problem solved' ! 👍 they are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. Jimmy is a kind guy, all the reception team are helpful as are the bar & restaurant staff. As soon as there is another deal coinciding with a Pompey game I/will be back. 👍

The breakfast is good, the location is super good, the service is good, and the price is affordable! Hee hee, it is suitable for taking children. There is no parking lot, but there are many parking lots nearby, and the location is super good.

Excellent friendly hotel with great staff, attended HMS INTREPID REUNION with over 60 other members of our group and the staff worked so hard , very good food in the evening and excellent breakfast selection, great cosy bar next to reception and a lively function room with bar downstairs, a great time was had by us all and a big thank you to all the hard working friendly staff

Breakfast was decent and I had a nice meal in the evening where the Chef accommodated my requests. Room was comfortable and I would stay again if I'm in Portsmouth.

Lovely hotel and spa . Only let down was the car park attached to hotel only has one way in , no exit very very dangerous there was four of us grid locked inside it. Lucky we were all good drivers and managed to exit . There is a public one outside , but hotel car park is very limited and dangerous hardly any room inside , weird old shape and reverse driving more than forward . Hotel are cash less and there attitude was.... ah na , sorry cashless system . Shop up road. that's all they could offer don't give a dam how you park. Also took 160 deposit and will return sometime after. At later date. That was the real letdown reception staff.. .. not my problem attitude was poor. While the people that did get in hotel carpark was lucky to pay at reception off there deposit. Such poor service for such a lovely hotel. Apart from that the rest good.

The hotel is well located in the centre of town however parking and access by car was a big problem; we had to park a mile away. Our room (and those of other travellers) wasn't ready on arrival. The room was in the main building; the bed was comfortable and the room had usual amenities. The shower was a little dated. We used the bar which was comfortable although overly busy due to two large parties booked in for events that evening. The bartender, Micky, coped really well with the large number of customers from the events. Breakfast included a good choice of hot and cold options and service was good. We felt the hotel tariff was over-priced even allowing that we visited for the Christmas market in December.

Staff excellent especially Abby on Reception, so welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Perfect welcome. Spacious room, excellent bathroom spotlessly clean. Excellent location. Electric heater made room perfectly warm. Bar and entrance area excellent. Loved the style and quirkiness - reminded us of Canadian hotels ( quality of some much worse ) and Disney Wilderness Lodge. Perfect. Breakfast excellent. Dinner not so much. This is not a Boutique Hotel so perhaps the name Bespoke Hotels sets it up to fail, sadly. Yes it needs new mattresses and mattress covers are a MUST. Agree that dining room chairs need cleaning and much dusting required. It could be so much better - just TLC - But no where near as bad as the horrible reviews which nearly out us off. We Loved It !! Can't wait to come back....Thank You :) :) :)

We’ve just completed 3 nights at the Mercury Winchester. We chose the hotel as it was the cheapest hotel with closest proximity to the city centre. As someone with the mantra “ I spend more time in the city than I do the hotel” I was not expecting the Ritz. Location is 10/10, within 100yds you are in the high street and right at the beginning of the local market when it is on. It’s worth noting that when the market is happening they close one of the main roads leading to the hotel so you would have to use a back route. Our Sat Nav took us down the road the market takes place so would have been a problem had it been market day. The hotel itself is tired and our “privilege room” was plentiful with stained carpets & even child pen scrawl on the wall. That aside the TV was large & bed & bathroom clean. We had a view of the cathedral & a mini fridge stocked with a couple of bottles of water & bottles of Pepsi. Breakfast was satisfactory but nothing special. The staff throughout our stay were very nice and we had no issues. Parking isn’t great, the small covered car park is a little tight to manoeuvre & at £15 per day very expensive. In summary if we came back to Winchester we certainly wouldn’t discount the Mercure as an option but it would be dependent on whether we could get a better price elsewhere.

Not used Days Inn before and we were pleasantly surprised. Nice warm welcome and the room perfectly adequate for a one night stay. Yes, it does need refurbishment but for the money it’s good value. In fact we will definitely use again en route to Southampton.

The hotel looks bright and modern, with a decent car park. The many many signs all over the place about fines if you don’t register your vehicle make the parking and hotel entry somewhat intimidating. If they are concerned about parking. Why not just have a barrier with a token from reception to exit? Reception was friendly and we had a room on the ground floor with a lovely view of a ****y bank of earth through a rather small window. The room was clean, well appointed but the ceiling lighting was awfully dim. The bathroom was clean but we didn’t feel that entry/exit from the bath was very safe if you had limited mobility. Dinner in the restaurant was extremely disappointing. The space is modern and the kitchen is open, but the service, though very friendly was extremely and embarrassingly slow. This needs to attended to. The place was not at all busy. In the end we went to the bar to get a drink to fill in the waiting time. Someone on a neighbouring table waited ages for a beer which was served flat and had to wait a long long time for a replacement. Our tear and share bread was so over cooked, we struggled to cut it with a pizza wheel. The fish and chips were very tasty and well presented. The tagliatelle was over cooked and the sauce completely tasteless. The only flavour in the dish came from the nice garlic prawns added as an extra. We decided against deserts as we anticipated another very long wait. While we were there a neighbouring table was re-occupied but was not sanitised between guests. This could have been so much better! Breakfast was easier because it’s self serve, but it was busy and the few staff were unable to keep pace so tables took a long time to be cleared and longer to be cleaned. We had to get our own cutlery as this job was also slow. Breakfast selection and quality was quite acceptable. We were happy with the hotel but it was badly let down by the extremely slow dinner service.

We got this deal for one night via Travelzoo. The experience was excellent. We were impressed with the site of the property and the hotel and its facilities overall. We used the spa and gym and my daughter had a massage which although expensive was very good. The evening meal was included in our deal and was very good and served in the restaurant which has a nice ambience and was not busy. We will come again in 2025. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. All the staff were professional.

The room is very close to the main street and is recommended.

Pretty basic no frills hotel but quiet and clean with a good comfortable bed and well equipped shower room. Rooms are a good size. Easy to find. Good parking. Polite and helpful staff.
