This is a no-frills experience, that surprises with the features it does offer.
Incredible location, friendly staff, and all of the necessary amenities you could require.
The mattresses in the pods are comfortable, and the fans in the pod keep it at a good temperature, even with the recent heatwave.
I'm over 6ft in height and quite chubby, and yet I found the capsules roomy and quiet.
It's my second time staying here, and I will be back.
I had booked a solo room just for the 1 night on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday. I arrived at the hotel at 12.30 on the off chance I could check in perhaps a bit earlier than 3pm as I had an event to attend to that was between 2pm-9pm.
I was informed by staff that was not possible, so left my bag in the bag store and returned around 2.30pm again asking if I the room was available yet, which it was not.
There was obviously a delay in housekeeping getting all rooms ready as I head reception staff inform lots of guests their rooms were being processed and a bit of a delay, not sure on time. There is being vague as customer service strategy and not over promising but I like many guests sat waiting had events and tickets and just wanted to know realistically a time.
There were at least 6 sets of guests that were frustrated by the late check in.
I finally checked into my room 15.40 the last but one who had arrived 12-3pm
I had booked a solo room and got a 6 bed bunk room to myself, with no other guests expected or booked because there were no solo rooms/double rooms left
The tv was behind a bunk, so was really visable.
Housekeeping- were polite, friendly and the room was very clean but poorly maintained the carpet was worn, kick/skirting boards needed repaint/refiling, the mobile AC was far too loud for the size and acoustics of the room which I turned off.
The observation and feedback as someone who has managed in hospitality and in adult and adolescent behaviour is to the reception team and shift manager.
I don't want to hear as the guest your grievances with the housekeeping team repetitively whilst waiting in a small reception. You could have easily only discussed it back of house or you could offered a free cold/hot drink.. instead of an hour of tension, 6 sets of guests were sat in.
The room was on the lower floor behind reception, the soundproofing between floors was non-existent.
The location is great, the bathroom lovely, rooms really clean. So that indicates to me it's a booking system, management system issue and staff slating other staff in front of guest requires some customer awareness improvement. Perhaps some staff were on long shift perhaps,, it was hot, it was busy and perhaps bank holiday frazzled.
I would stay at the hotel if small fixes could be made as the location, to coaches, tubes, train, eateries is great
When you book ask for a room at the rear of the hotel, otherwise you will have a lot of noise from the outside road. Very clean, and comfortable budget hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The local area does not have many restaurants, shops, pubs etc. The underground train station is a 15 minute walk away and there are very good underground trains into central London. Excel is easily accessible on the underground and Docklands Light Railway, A good car park is available which charges £10 for 24 hours,
Booked for my parents who would be exhausted after their 10.5-hour flight. I was approached via WhatsApp by their front desk and it turned out that my special request was kindly honoured. Parents were satisfied with the location (although they landed at T3 and took quite a while through the immigration) and the room and amenities were beyond expectation. Would definitely book again when necessary. Would be nice to have fried eggs for breakfast though.
The staff are friendly however I feel tge room was mis sold. It us fathers day ans I did notcwant to cause a fuss. We booked and additional room and the hotel accomodated in their adjacent apartment however it was significantly different to the hotel smelt like and fekt like a council building and the kerb appeal was lacking.
The pictures relate to rhe outside of the apartment and the flooring leading up to the apartment.
The bed was fim however comfy and hard sharp edges bith myself and my wife bumped into. The bathroom was very small. There was double glazing on he property and opening the window you could see the old framework and tissues were left in between.
This does not seem right.
I look forward in hearing from you.
Re, Daniel
As others have mentioned, hotel public areas are clean and well presented. Unfortunately, the rooms are in need of TLC. The location is near battersea park and power station with public transport links nearby. On arrival, I was made to use a third-party QR code to register and provide ID, I was told this was so they could find me if the room was damaged!
We stayed in a twin room on the 4th floor, and there was a smell of stale tobacco from the room next door (they appear to be a long-term resident leaving some of their oersonal belongings outside).
The room was a nice size with a large bathroom, kitchenette, and dining table. Unfortunately the spotlights in the bathroom didn't work and the tap leaked. The doors hiding the kitchenette were broken, the hot tap in the kitchen sink didn't work, the crockery was dirty, but washing up liquid and a dish sponge was provided so we were able to wash them in the bathroom sink.
The window had a note advising it was waiting repair and not to open it. It was cold outside and there was a draft coming through it. I could not find the hairdryer. Looking in the wardrobe, i found an ironing board but no iron.Apparently, you have to ask for these, but we were not told this on check-in. There was a very dirty duvet in the wardrobe and the mattress was stained, thry msy want to consider cleaning and using mattress and bedding protectors!
As we were only staying 1 night, we didn't cause a fuss and reported to reception on check out so they could make repairs.
Overall, this could be a great hotel if room maintenance improved, but in its current state, it's an ok stay for the price. I gave a thumbs up because its not a bad hotel, It's similar standard to other budget hotels, but with a kitchenette.
Check in and check out was awful. Nobody at the desk either time. When the guy checked me in he spent more time talking to his colleague rather than dealing with me. I asked about parking to which he told me to get my car to the gate and he’d let me in. Twice I pressed the bell until I was let in. Parking was limited and fairly tight. I’ve then gone back in to get my room key. The same guy told me to wait and then had absolutely no idea who I was even though I’d just spoke to him.
No receptionist at check out, told by the guy who had been in the restaurant that I’d have to wait while he rang someone who could assist. Whilst waiting a parcel delivery guy came in and he was told the same, wait for a receptionist. The lady arrived and asked me what I was delivering. Realising she had the wrong person she then proceeded to deal with the parcel 1st. This meant phoning the recipient of the parcel before attending to my checkout
Wouldn't say this is a proper 4* Hotel. The room was quite good, spacious with a good shower. Not many facilities at the hotel. Breakfast was ok but not great, very basic for a 4*, terribly cheap juice and tea/coffee in flasks; the tea was appalling. Wouldn't have taken much to provide boiling water and some decent tea bags to choose from. On the bright side staff was friendly. The location of the hotel was nothing special but main thing for us was walking distance to the tube (about 15 mins) so we were fine with it.

A shower without a door or a curtain is not avant-garde, it’s not modern, it’s not even clever; it’s just a headache and inconvenience for hotel guests and cleaning staff alike.
The faucet in the shower is very modern. Two knobs, one which turns the water on, and the other which selects whether the water comes out of the fixed shower head above, or the movable shower wand. Choose wrong and enjoy a blast of ice cold water from above.
This is not something a person wants to figure out when they step into the shower first thing in the morning.

GGuest UserIf you’re booking for the location then it’s a 10/10. Pods are a few minutes away which makes making your flight a breeze.
Beds and duvets are comfortable however i slept without pillows as i can only sleep flat. They’re only double pillows. Not a good sleep on that part as there’s no spares.
Hotel has no lift, but the first floor doesn’t have many stairs so not too much of an issue.
Beers are around £7 which is expected for a hotel near the airport. Good view overlooking the runway.
For a nights stay it’s a good deal, my second time I’ve been here now.
My only issue would be the pillows, with neck issues a lower pillow makes a huge difference.
GGuest UserThe room is super small, even its clean but too old for the furniture. I had to remove the table to another corner in order to use the wardrobe. It’s almost impossible to open the luggage. I’ve remarked the request and try preventing nearly elevator, but unfortunately I’ve been arranged to the room just besides elevator, so it’s really really noisy outside.
What I could not accept was the mattress, its slope and a bit hollow , I’ve requested to front desk staff and they said they would add a mat onto the mattress but finally they have forgotten. Poor service. And the staff hasn’t change a tissue box during cleansing when there’s out of stock
I’d not book this hotel again
MMelissaWe're a family of 4 with 2 young children and booked the studio. But when we arrived, we were told that the room had no electricity and so split us into 2 rooms instead.
While the rooms were generally clean, most of the bath towels had brown patches or old blood stains on them which was quite gross. 1 room that we were assigned to also had a weird fishy smell at the stove area.
The hotel is about 7 min walk from Aldgate East tube station and is located on quiet street. This is not a very pleasant area, and there were always shady characters around the tube station, which made us feel uncomfortable, so we tried not to stay out too late.
Staff were friendly and accommodating but they appeared short staffed during check in / check out timings. Only 2 staff on duty, so there is a bit of a wait if you need their help at these times.
GGuest UserThe hotel is within a short walking distance to: good eateries, shops and the train station to Central London. There are ample parking spaces at ~10pounds/ day for hotel guests. This older hotel has comfortable, spacious rooms but a quirky shower head (aim at the wall as you shower to avoid flooding the bathroom).
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is enough for family stay.
Hotel provided complimentary breakfast. However, I think maybe is too many guests staying in the hotel, the breakfast has not prepared enough the portion of the breakfast for the guest, it has cost us can’t get/ need to wait quite long for them to replenish the foods .
Additionally, even though the hotel is 10minutes walk from Limehouse subway, but it was quite far from centre.
AAnonymous UserStrategic location which is very near to the tube station (Bayswater), but this tube station has no lift, not convenient for those with big luggage.
The hotel room is quite small, the wall is also very thin, and you can listen to the noise from neighbours. The corridor is also very narrow.
Overall, it is a good stay for those who need a budget hotel and with easy access to tube station.
GGuest UserWe appreciated the quick check-in on arrival (earlier than expected) and the location to the sites we were touring was ideal. The breakfast was a perfect jump start to our busy days in London. The staff was very attentive and courteous. The room is very small but very clean. We were hardly in the room and slept well on the comfortable bed.
BBehekEverything was very good. Breakfast offers a lot of coice - except warm breakfast is only on Weekends. On the Trip site the check in time is incorrect (ov voucher it says after 12, but it is after 14) - despite us coming too early, they gave us the room and made coffee for free. The hotel is locked over night and the staff is really friendly. We were in the hotel trought the hottest days in history but they prepared a ventilator - because they don't have AC (normally).
EEntienneI recently stayed at art’otel London Hoxton and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between comfort and contemporary design, with a vibrant artistic flair that sets it apart from more conventional accommodations. The interiors are thoughtfully curated, with art seamlessly integrated into every corner—from the lobby to the rooms—giving the space a distinctive and creative atmosphere.
The room was clean, stylish, and well-equipped with modern amenities. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offered stunning views of the city. I especially appreciated the attention to detail in both the decor and the service; the staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and eager to help.
Located in the heart of Hoxton, the hotel is ideally positioned for exploring East London’s eclectic mix of galleries, cafes, and independent shops, while still being within easy reach of central attractions.
Overall, art’otel Hoxton is a great choice for travellers looking for something a little more inspired than the standard hotel stay. I would definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a creative yet comfortable base in London.
