Not Worth It, Even for the Price
If you’re only looking for a cheap place to sleep, the price might seem reasonable — but I did not enjoy my stay. The room looked like the photos, but there was an unpleasant, old smell and a lot of dust. It felt very basic and not well-maintained.
Unfortunately, I didn’t check the mattress before settling in. I spent the whole night scratching and later noticed stains on it. One of the pillows I didn’t even use had body hair on it and looks like a bug?! Honestly, it was awful — and still felt overpriced for what you get.
The room didn’t have a fridge or mini bar, which made it even less convenient for a short stay. Parking was an extra £14 per night. Breakfast was very basic. It’s nice that you can take it to go, but it’s mostly sugary snacks like muffins, muesli, croissants, and jam on bread. For the same money, you could get a better breakfast at the airport and actually feel full.
Fabulous location, if you need the airport. But, you have to bus/cab/drive into Southend/Rayleigh/wherever if not wanting the airport.
15min walk to various eateries, if you don't want to eat in the hotel, like Toby Carvery, Hungry Horse, African, fish and chips.
Majority of staff seen were happy and chatty, nice to see.
5* breakfast, would definitely recommend as had lots of choice.
Room was clean, included bed, desk, chair, armchair, safe, kettle, iron, toiletries, bath&shower.
We had clear communication by email before our arrival in London from China. Train delays from Heathrow did not cause a problem for our late arrival (midnight) in Brentwood. An upgraded room gave us a private bathroom was no problem. The breakfast is excellent and great value for both of us. We recommend this Guest House in the strongest manner possible, having extended our stay to four nights.

Really good service all the time from checkin to checkout. Restaurant has a good variety for evening meals. There is shuttle bus which is £4 one way to and from the airport. Buffet breakfast has great options too. Perfect if flying in and out of Stansted.
Lovely little hotel very near to Marks Tey station. Comfortable, well-equipped rooms, a nice restaurant for breakfast, and great front desk service too! Some minor quibbles: The electricity in the room kept tripping, and we couldn’t turn off the lights in the wardrobe without everything shutting off. Also, the shower bath liquid dispenser wouldn’t reattach after falling down mid-shower. Other than that, a pleasant enough stopover. Wish parking wasn’t so expensive though!

Located a short ride away from the terminal, the hotel is perfect for a comfortable night's sleep. There is a shuttle bus from/to the airport and costs £4 per journey.
We were initially given a room without sofa bed, when I read the description I was booking a room with a sofa bed. However the lady in the front- i cannot exactly remember her name but I think it was Tracy, she was very accommodating and moved us to a room with a sofa bed. The sink was blocked and the phone in the room wasn’t working. The whole hotel was dated and needs an upgrade. Breakfast was poor, compared to other holiday inn expresses we have stayed at this one was limited with their items and eggs etc didn’t seem fresh. We were in a small town but even then when you’re staying at a holiday inn you expect certain things to be in order and certain standards unfortunately we felt like this holiday inn wasn’t up to standard.

GGuest UserChecking in was easy and the man was so nice.
Room was ideal, requested a runway view and that definitely ticked that box.
Breakfast had plenty of options, cold salad, ham and cheese, hot scrambled egg, bacon, sausages (standard and vegetarian), hash browns, beans, cereals, seeds, yogurt, a couple Danishes and then there was 'make your own' waffles (just like in the States)

PPlayful+JoyfulThe hotel service is good. Just the restaurant and bar at the hotel is opened from 5-9pm. If you drive , the hotel offers parking. It’s not a problem for you that no restaurants around the hotel.
Anyway, the hotel meets everything you need.
I love the most is the senses of fire safety. Many fire extinguishers in the corridors of the hotel.
GGuest UserTo be honest, apart from the fact it was so close to the terminal for a 4am start, it was disappointing. Long queue to check in although staff were polite and welcoming, I had to climb over a pizza box, dirty cup and wine glass dumped outside my door and when I entered the room I wasn't wholly convinced it had been cleaned properly. Also, pet peeve, no biscuits! However, on the plus side it was quiet and check out was quick.

LLidiia KThe location of the hotel is fantastic-town centre, in front of the beach, sea view. Parking is alright, at the back yard. Staff is very friendly, nice and helpful, let us in 1 hour prior to official check in time. Soundproofing is good, didn’t hear our neighbours.
Breakfast was lavish, fresh and tasty.
In this property location sells itself. The building is tired, but luckily maintained. Curtains in the room are crying to be washed, dust is not wiped for days (if not weeks), tv was very stinky and not working, our bed was small and short for two of us (queen size I believe), water pressure in shower was too weak, carpets with all the possible stains, same as sofa, very unpleasant; waited for our breakfast for more than half an hour (though I received my vegetarian breakfast as I requested in my booking), coffee was only instant. I think, one night stay was too pricey for what it has, but overall impression is still rather good.
Summary - if you want a good location with easy access to the Clacton city centre and the beach - here you go, just don’t expect a lot

KKASHWe had a good stay although our sleep was disrupted as we could not turn off the air con we tried numerous things numerous times and it would not turn off it was loud and kept us awake.
Breakfast was OK although no real vegetarian options such as veggie/vegan sausages etc and had to wait a while for things to be topped up.
Restaurant was nice however and staff were friendly.
GGuest UserReally lovely environment, very clean, and service was out of this world. Helpful and friendly staff. The room was beautiful. This hotel is a must, excellent value for money. Highly recommend. Thank you for looking after us.
Ggudetama_travelsThe swimming pool appeared quite big, although we didn't get a chance to use it. Our room was fairly roomy for two people, but with our group of four, it felt a bit crowded. It's worth noting that if you have heavy luggage, you might want to avoid booking a room on the top floor (second floor), as there are no lifts available in this hotel. The bathroom provided only shampoo and body wash, so you might need to bring or purchase your own conditioner.
The breakfast exceeded my expectations. Despite anticipating a traditional British offering, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available, including English hot meals, a salad bar, a selection of cereals (there was Alpen!), milk alternatives (I particularly enjoyed the Oatly), and two coffee machines.
Their breakfast was so impressive that I will definitely consider staying at this hotel again when I visit Colchester next time.
