3-Star Hotels in Venice

This hotel is located just across the Grand Canal from the train station. You just need to get your luggage up and over the bridge. There are porters at the train station who will do this for you for a nice tip. Upon check-in, we were offered an upgrade to a corner canal view room that was fabulous! Very spacious room with several windows to watch the busy canal activity. Breakfast is fantastic including brewed to order Italian coffee service. The hotel has a cozy elevator and a bar with indoor/outdoor seating. Lovely place to stay!

Consigliato vivamente, Abbiamo soggiornato in questo albergo e siamo stati benissimo, a due passi dal canal grande a 20 minuti a piedi da piazza san marco . Vicinissima alla stazione e dal punto di di partenza degli autobus per l'aeroporto, le stanze molto pulite il personale attento e gentile e premuroso, la colazione abbondante e variegata.

Love this hotel soooo much! First they got shuttle buses service, but I skipped that and called an Uber which costs me 25 euro so everyone remember to use their shuttle service which can help with saving. Second the facilities are great! The pool is clean and the hotel is new. The room is large and cozy. You can use the sun beds which is comfortable etc… Overall that’s very good with such price and I’ll rate it 5/5!

Pros: clean, walking distance to restaurants, atm. Nice breakfast, even provided specialty coffee (latte, expresso, etc) made to order. Cons: Put my teens and my husband and I in rooms on complete opposite sides of hotel. Overly cheerful lady at front desk tried to rip us off 50 euros saying the tax for the 2 rooms for 2 nights was 78 euros and it was ”cash only.” Told her I'd pay when we leave. Inquired the next morning (a man was at the front desk) and he said we only owed 26 euros tax and we could pay by credit card (as we had the room). Strange Disney animation art hung in lobby, that doesn't match the other furnature decor.

A big thank you to the reception girls and the kitchen staff for making our stay so enjoyable. You are all so kind, nothing was too much, we forgot our facemasks and the pharmacy was not open, receptionist gave us some instead. Our room was over looking the grand canal, fan in our room and air conditioning worked OK. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Mr A Parekh and family

Positive bits: - Accessible area / 7- 15mins walk to the Bus, Boat/water taxi’s and Train Station - There’s a lot of nearby restaurants just sitting next to the canal - Accessible for water taxis and gondolas as well - Our room has the canal view Negative bits: - No double bed available - 3 out of 4 Single beds provided are squeaky/noisy - There’s only ONE power outlet (don’t forget to bring your extension cable) - There’s Mosquito’s (my son has some mosquitos bites). We mentioned this issues with the guy on the reception. He provided us mosquito repellent plug but it didn’t work - Please note that this is Catholic Hotel so they shut the main door at 12pm and will be open again at 6am. It’s not recommended to book an early flights or train rides as you have to pay 20 Euros for someone to open it for you

We stayed in Room 103. It was very clean if slightly shabby in parts but that is part of the charm. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Crisp white sheets which were changed every day of our stay. I am a large person, and the shower was small, but I managed to manoeuvre in it so no big problem. Breakfast was excellent and it was a 5 minute walk to St Marks Square one way and a 10 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge the other. Loads of good restaurants nearby of varying prices. Will definitely stay here if we return to Venice.

This was a pleasant discovery. We reached the hotel late at night and we were greeted by a rather terse front desk person. Yet. after checking in we walked up to a room on the top floor that was nicely furnished and had a comfortable bed (perfect after our long flight). The hotel has character yet it has all the needed modern amenities. We will definitely stay there again! The only minor issue was that it was bit hard to find the entrance.

hotel facilities are a bit old and worn out they have a cleaning service every day but I don't think they clean the bed cover and the carpets (flooring) every day the location is really good as it's near to the pier of the water bus linking to the tourist attractions I had a stay with breakfast included, however, the hotel did not have sufficient seats that I have to wait for seats and the food is not enough for everybody that one time, I have almost nothing to eat (it operates 7-10 am and I arrived there 930am that time)

We sent four nights at the Ala in September 2022. Our room was on the top floor by the roof garden, It was a large double, with a spare third bed which we used as a sofa. There was lots of storage and excellent air conditioning. The only downside was no shower cubicle, just a hand-held shower over the bath. We thought we would get noise from the roof terrace but the hotel was rigid in closing the terrace at 10pm each night, so no issue arose. There was a little street noise but in the tourist centre of Venice this is hard to avoid. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and with regular top-ups to avoid stuff running out. We did our usual trick of stuffing ourselves with breakfast and skipping lunch. We didn't try the bar, although it did look pretty buzzing and the outside tables in the square were inviting. Other reviewers have mentioned how convenient the Ala is for St Mark's Square, the vaporetto (Line 1) and also the ferry to the airport. This is all true. It is also right next to a traghetto which will give you the gondola experience crossing the Grand Canal for the princely sum of two euros each. Overall, we would definitely recommend the Ala.
