This hotel is in the perfect location for catching the train to explore the culture and sights of Tokyo. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance not to mention karaoke rooms. There is a supermarket, chemist and Family part right next door. The Breakfast was very basic and the same everyday - a toasted sandwich is you opted for the non Japanese option. The room also did not include our four year old for breakfast and it wasn’t worth paying the $14 to include him. If you are looking for just a bed then this is a great choice and the apartment style room made it very spacious. Great for families.

Check in and check out was smooth and efficient, with helpful staff at reception. Rooms were much too tiny but i think this is the case elsewhere in Tokyo. Comfortable bed, clean rooms, great location.

We were able to get into our room even though we arrived early at around 2pm, and the owner was very friendly, which was great.
I used this hostel to attend a live show at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, and it was only about a 20-minute walk, so you just had to follow the road straight ahead, which was great, and there was also a small Aeon supermarket nearby, so it was convenient.
The facilities are quite old, so to be honest I wouldn't stay here if traveling with friends, but considering how cheap it is and how close it is to Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, it's perfectly fine for a solo female guest.

The staff was great. This is a large hotel. The best things about it are: the gorgeous Japanese garden - just lovely. The rooms are clean. A newspaper was delivered every morning , which was a treat.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk for two different underground stations - but not difficult to get too. Staff arranged a cab to the airport for us.
The outdoor pool was closed and there was a 50,000 yen change to use a gym with an indoor pool.
We stayed in the “Main” - very nice, but the bathrooms are a wee bit dated and somewhat crowded. Perfectly functional and clean!
I have found the pillows in Japan VERY firm and the New Otani is no exception. Perhaps having a pillow selection menu would be nice.
We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed 7 nights here and there's nothing to be picky about . I was at first skeptical about this hotel as the reviews are either very good or very bad. But I realised that it probably depends on the room type. I highly recommend the deluxe room. It is spacious room and comfortable for 2. Not the regular Japanese Hotel that is small and cramp. The bathroom and toilet is also separated which is a plus point for me.
Self check-in is a breeze. Amenities are fully-equipped. Do note that you'll have to collect your complimentary water bottle yourself at the lobby everyday. Coffee sachets, comb, razors are self help at the lobby as well. You can take as many as you want🤭 the rest of the amenities will be replenished by housekeeping everyday.
The only ”downside” for this accoms is the location. It's about 7-10mins walk from Akasaka Station exit 6. We got used to the distance after 2nd day so it was fine.
There are also many eateries and a 7/11 just below the hotel.
I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Tokyo.

Outstanding
GGuest UserI am a book lover myself, and came to stay here for 2 nights in March a week before Easter, mainly for the library theme and book selection. The hotel itself, the book lounge, and the book libraries on each floor was all very very good. However, upon my checking in, it was obvious that the male receptionist on the left pay more attention to Caucasian guests rather than me (an Asian solo female traveller). I had the impression they just wanted to get rid of me asap, and then served the Caucasian guests behind me.
During the whole of my check in process, no one mentioned anything about the special libraries on each floor, no one told me about the free beverages offered “at the far end corner for the reception desk”, and definitely no one mentioned anything about he QRcode library tour!!! I stayed for two nights and it was only after the first night (when I read the books inside my room that I knew of ANY of the services I mentioned above). Of course one may say I could read all those on the signage’s provided in the property. But then…
Upon walking into the reception desk the next day, I did hear the same male receptionist explained in great detail (everything I mentioned above)in English to other Caucasian guests.
I like the library premise of the property, the books selections were great, exhibition on the first floor was quite nice, however, I am not sure if I would stay for a second time, knowing how they treated solo female Asian guest whom they assumed was not civilised enough (that was my impression) to deserve a thorough introduction about this lovely bookish hotel from them. Quite disappointed to be frank, especially knowing how much history this hotel has included!!
GGuest UserExcellent hotel and special mention to Justyna
Location: Prime spot in the heart of Shinjuku and one minute walk to Shinjuku station exit 4, and less than five minutes to other exits.
Room: Extremely clean, modern, spacious, fantastic housekeeping.
Facilities: Washing machine, dryer, hot/cold water dispenser.
Service: Top notch hospitality from staff who are very friendly and courteous – special mention to Justyna who was extremely helpful with my queries days leading up to my check-in, as well as throughout my 7-night stay, and she always ensures that my requests are fulfilled promptly. Thank you Justyna and team!
GGuest UserKeio hotel is located in Shinjuku. Their rooms are reasonably size and the staff are nice and helpful. There are many restaurants around the hotel, and Lawson convenience store is located opposite the hotel. It takes about 5-7 minutes to walk from the hotel to Shinjuku's JR Station.
LloobenjaminExcellent service staff especially Miss Fujita mending the checkin counter. She has been very friendly, helpful by providing us with a lot of information, explained in detail about the hotel facilities and even recommended us to some site seeing locations in Asakusa. Hotel is in a very strategic location within the heart of Asakusa, accessible by 2 metro line, with great 7-11 just a few steps away from the hotel. Definitely going to repeat our stay there in the future.
SSALLESWe had a nice stay at Washington Hotel Akihabara. The hotel is well located, nearby metro lines and local trains which allow us to easily move around Tokyo. Although the room is small, it is well designed and it big enough for few nights. The bed is not very large but comfortable. We managed to sleep with our 2 yo kid. You can also choose between soft or hard pillow. The bathroom was quite big with a nice bathtub. Around the hotel, you have plenty of restaurant and convenient stores. The buffet breakfast was great and everything we try tastes really good ! There is a large choice between Japanese food and wester food. Finally, there is a laundry area which was really convenient.
AAnonymous UserVery clean, spacious, the biggest room I got so far for single occupancy, able to open my suitcase n still got space to walk around comfortably. Very convenient just 7 mins walk to/from Ueno station or 4 mins to/from Okachimachi station. Kensei Skyliner to Narita airport just short walk from Ueno station. Good for last min shopping at Ameyoko Street (Uniqlo/GU, supermarket, Daiso, Donki, etc). Delicious & affordable Chirashi Don Sushi bowl (must have). They also catered free half portion ramen at night, yakult & ice sticks after Onsen (manga at the entertainment room). Definitely will stay again.
AAnonymous Useri booked the triple room as it was the only room left. there was space for only 1 large luggage - the room was a little old but bed and duvet surprisingly comfy. onsen was small so it got a little crowded as the hotel was full that night. location was great - tho the nearest ikebukuro stn exit with lift, C9 (vs 20b), is a little further from the station. excellent authentic chinese food nearby (豪妈 on google maps), and a family mart just across the street. great hotel!
GGuest UserI love the location it’s super convenient. Staff are super polite and smiley.
Service wise is not good too many strange rules firstly, there is no phone in the room. In case u need one it’s near the elevator on each floor to speak to the staff.
The twin bed are way too big for us 2/3 of the room. I can’t even open my suitcase easily.
Only one elevator in this 14 storeys hotel right next to their emergency stairways. There is a sign saying if you are in a rush please use the stairways but we were on the higher floor and it’s so cold February a few degrees Celsius ???? Well no thanks I shall wait patiently then……
No daily cleaning service we stayed 5 nights the hotel offered one time cleaning during our stay. All the dirty linens and garbage have to be placed outside your door by 10am if new towels needed. Strangely one bottle complimentary water was given to 2 guests daily together in a bag of towels and slippers toothbrush garbage bags. Only one washing machine ¥600 35mins, dryer ¥300 60mins available (cashless payment only) Onsen too small and poor facilities.
