On the last Sunday of January, after enjoying skiing at Pakunoki-daira, my wife and I stayed here for one night. I had always wanted to visit this inn, so I went there after skiing to my heart's content. The inn is located just past Hirayu Forest and into the road on the left. It is diagonally opposite the souvenir shop. From the entrance, it looks like a three-story building, but once inside, the corridor continues to wind and curve, making it a bit complicated. We stayed in a Japanese-style room in the annex. The guest rooms are on the second floor and are accessed by stairs. The annex rooms have a washbasin and toilet, while the main building rooms seem to have a shared toilet. There are one separate bath for men and one for women, and two private baths. We went to one private bath and the men's bath, and both were about the same size, with the indoor bath accommodating a maximum of three people and the open-air bath accommodating a maximum of two people. The private baths can be used at any time as long as the sign at the entrance says it is available, so if it's available, you'll probably find it more relaxing. However, the sulfur-containing "Iegami no Yu" bath is only available for the men's and women's outdoor baths, so it's definitely worth a try. The spring water is always flowing into each bath. As for the food they are so proud of, we ordered the standard course "Eitaro Monogatari" for dinner, but it started with horse sashimi served like a tessa, followed by grilled dishes, soup dishes, small hotpots, and fried dishes, and by the time we got to the main course of grilled Hida beef on a magnolia leaf, my stomach was already full, and I ended up leaving half of the beef rice pot. In addition to this, we were served an appetizer of mountain vegetables, a steamed mushroom pot, and even dessert, all of which were elaborately prepared, and it is no wonder that they claim to be proud of their cuisine. There is no doubt that you will drink more and more alcohol. Breakfast is also a mini course meal centered around mountain produce. *You can have as much rice as you want, and all the deep-fried tofu is homemade. The overnight dried rainbow trout is excellent. There is no shop in the building, but there is a vending machine (alcoholic beverages available) on the first floor with relatively reasonable prices. There is free delicious water at each entrance to the bath area. Perhaps because the building is made of wood, you can hear a lot of noise from the bathroom and the neighboring rooms, but since this is not the type of inn that is used by large groups of people, it didn't bother us too much. My wife said that one pillow was too high and it was hard to sleep, so it would be better if they provided lower ones in the rooms. We were able to enjoy two types of Hirayu baths that flow directly from the source, and more delicious food than we could eat, and for this price. This is truly an inn that "won't leave without being satisfied." Thank you for your hospitality.
