Relais Palazzo del Barone - Photo Gallery

Everything was amazing: The people were super nice, and hospitality was great. The room is big and clean with an amazing view. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious. One tip for who will book this hotel and come in a car better to rent a small car but make sure still a strong car for the steep roads.

Let's start with the good points: Most of the staff were nice, and the breakfast was pretty good. Now for the problems: ① It's too remote. If the shuttle bus isn't scheduled right, you'll never get out, and you'll never get back! It was a heartbreaking experience! No Uber or taxi would take it. (Attached photo: I tried taxis countless times, to no avail!) And if you want to walk from the city to the hotel, it takes about 1.5 hours up the mountain. P.S. The reason I lament this is because I've experienced despair. Due to my irresponsibility, the hotel front desk staff got my shuttle bus time wrong. I tried countless taxis to no avail, and my mood after two weeks of traveling was utterly ruined... ② A receptionist was incredibly rude. She irresponsibly misjudged a customer's time, delaying me for several hours without even a single apology. She then turned around and blamed me for everything. I was practically pissed off by this woman during this trip... I couldn't even get her to argue with me in English because her English was so poor, which only made it even more frustrating... ③ There were ants crawling everywhere in the room. The woman said, "That's normal... Haven't you seen ants before?" and even tried to blame it on something we ate... utterly baffling. ④ The room didn't even have a free bottle of mineral water each day... This has never happened at other hotels in Italy; they always give at least two bottles. So, if you want mineral water, it's 2.50 euros for a small bottle. In such a remote place with no shops, you just drink it... ⑤ Originally, I thought since it was remote, I'd stay in the hotel and just enjoy the resort lifestyle. No way... The hotel was so tiny, so empty, there was absolutely no way I could just stay there. This experience taught me that choosing a hotel with convenient transportation is essential!

This hotel is an absolute gem. Gorgeous grounds surrounded by lemon trees, terraced gardens with vegetables that go into the gourmet meals that they make and a cooking school where you can learn to make the delicious food you are eating. The staff is so incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful that they make you feel as though YOU are their only guests. On top of that the views of the Mediterranean and Vesuvius are breathtaking. The owners are regularly around on the grounds along with their two dachshund’s Linda and Pricilla. It has a very familial feel and with upscale accommodations and service. I think my wife and I will come back just the two of us at some point. It is magical here. We love it!

I think we found our new "happy place" on earth! We completely enjoyed our stay at The Relais Palazzo Del Barone. We came with another couple and stayed for a few nights between our visit between Rome and Sorrento. We were so sad when we had to leave. While we were there, we took the cooking class and we were so happy we did. We left with aprons, recipe booklets, and the new knowledge of making delicious Italian dishes! I cannot wait to try the recipes here at home! If I could give 10 stars I would. Our hope is to return someday for a longer stay! Many thanks to Fabio, Barbara, and all the staff there.
