Lake Toya Tsuruga Resort Hikarinouta Reviews

Booked a room with private onsen and shared amongst 3 friends. There is valet parking upon arrival, and complimentary drinks and simple snacks at the welcome lounge between 3-10pm. They had a harpist perform at the lounge and dinner sometimes, it was very peaceful! Room was nice and comfortable, facing a nice view of lake Toya. Would have liked to be even closer to the lake as it turns out there is a field between the hotel and the lake. Temperature and size of private onsen js good, room facilities also great. Breakfast and dinner was wonderful, for dinner they serve a 6-7 course French styled meal on both nights made by Japanese ingredients. They had western and Japanese main plate options for breakfast with a buffet alongside too. Choices were plentiful and delicious. Staff generally very courteous and helpful, we had an issue with the hot water in our shower which they work very hard to fix. There was a random incident where one of the staff Yusaku was very rude to us at the Lumiere restaurant, he pretended not to understand English when taking our order for tea/ coffee, and even challenged us when we asked for lemon in tea, he said ‘what colleague?’ And ‘you want a piece of tea?’. Completely unacceptable for a hotel like this. The rest of the staff were nothing like that.

Nice staff and hotel.

I reckon that service quality is average with Japan standards. Most of staff do not speak English, but there is no issue to communicate with translator. Room amenities are average too, actually much lower than my expectation. I stayed in a good Onsen hotel in Hakone many years ago with my last visit in Japan, food and room are much much better. The skin product in this place I really doubt that it is only Muji stuff. Maybe the price was not that good when I booked in. I have to say it is overpriced for me.Dinner and brekkie are okay, location is fine cuz I drove myself.

We had the open air bath room. Fantastic experience! Staff were amazing! Dinner was French cuisine and was delicious. Breakfast was given a choice of Japanese or western style.

Beautiful boutique hotel, staff were friendly and service was excellent. Very cosy and facilities were top notch. Onsen was nice and food was good. Would come again 👍🏻

Everything is nicely prepared. View from the room is breathtaking. The private open bath in the room is awesome. Public onset is good but not fancy. Every meal is fantastic. The French dinner was delicious. The firework shows can be seen from the west-wing room, but very far away.

Not too close vs the Main Street n the lake view is a bit small. Bkfast n dinner all good, very friendly staff n facilities nice, artistic and clean. It’s ok if you drive or take their shuttle. Overall worthy but no need to pay for a very high holiday premium if the cheap rooms are full

Great hotel with friendly staff.

We came for skiing in Hokkaido. It’s better hire a car. A bit far away from skii resorts. The hotel service is the best we had so far. Love the Kaiseki cuisine.
