Hotels in Huaqiangbei Area, Shenzhen

Besides the confusing name ”Maker Hotel vs Mellow Orange Hotel” this is one of my recommended hotels here. Also a Trip.com award winner, the room is small and a bit old but it's actually pretty clean and comfy. Most of our neighbours are foreigners and I think most are here to check out Huaqiangbei Commercial Street (华强北) which is located just across the road. Perfect hotel to stay if you intend to buy some electronic stuffs opposite.

The hotel was near to the old electronics mall where one can buy many electronic stuffs at a low price. Food wise there are a many stalls below. The only downside could be that the level 1 entrance can be difficult to find as it is at the back of the main entrance and one has to route around the building to the back to enter the hotel. Lobby reception would be at Level 23.

The staff who checked us in is a slim lady who is very friendly, her tag is FQ:022, she gave us free upgrade to a better room. The shower place is big and the water is very comfortable. We see that the staff allows people to walk in to see the rooms before they decide whether to stay. Friendly staff. The hotel has an artistic feel with European atmosphere...

Unbeatable Location but in Desperate Need of Renovation The Shenzhen Huaqiang Plaza Hotel offers a mixed bag of experiences. While it has one major advantage that overshadows its shortcomings, there are several areas where improvements are desperately needed. Pros: Location: The hotel is situated in the best location any visitor to Shenzhen could hope for. Huaqiangbei Metro Station is right at its doorstep, and the area is vibrant, filled with shops, restaurants, and everything a traveller might need. It’s truly the hotel’s standout feature. Extra Refreshments: One of the hotel’s more unique and appreciated offerings is the complimentary tea and cake in the early afternoon and a substantial snack selection in the late evening. These extras add a touch of hospitality that we enjoyed. Elevator Views: While the elevator system is far from efficient, the outside views from the elevators are refreshing and a pleasant distraction during the long waits. Cons: Tired and Rundown: The hotel shows its age in every corner. From worn-out fixtures to outdated furnishings, it’s clear that the property is long overdue for refurbishment. Even basic amenities like WiFi were unreliable to the point where we gave up trying to use it. Elevator Issues: The limited number of elevators is a significant drawback, especially as the hotel starts on the 23rd floor. Waiting for an elevator is a frustrating experience as they are often full, going the wrong direction, or repeatedly stopping at multiple floors. Bathroom Amenities: The bathroom setup is another area where the hotel falls short. Only solid soap bars are provided—an outdated choice when most modern hotels offer liquid soap or other amenities. This detail highlights how the hotel has neglected to update its offerings. Overall Experience: Despite its shortcomings, the unbeatable location of the Shenzhen Huaqiang Plaza Hotel is enough to bring me back. The convenience of being in the heart of Shenzhen’s bustling Huaqiangbei district outweighs the frustrations, though I sincerely hope the management considers renovating the property soon. With some upgrades, this hotel could easily become a top choice for travellers.

The hotel is clean, the service is excellent, the room is well equipped with appliances. Also the location is great, subway is close, there are many restaurants nearby. Price is affordable, I highly recommend

Low reviews for location because the title in English misleads customers. This hotel is not at the high speed rail station itself. I made the mistake of booking it without checking specific details. It was right at 燕南 station which was 4 stops away from high speed rail station. When staying here, think HK standards where apartments way nicer in photos than real life. Room cleaning needs to be more thorough but for this price in SZ where things are as expensive as HK, can’t really ask for more. I would say ok for local tourists but international tourists take note.

The hotel location is very strategic. Located on a pedestrian street, there are many food vendors, electronics and malls. The hotel service is very friendly, especially for 智君 (Zhijun). Very good and very friendly. Served us happily and well. It was really nice to stay at this hotel. The hotel is clean and nice. Also given a delicious late night dinner every day. Thank you!! Wonderful place, its so close to electronic market and restaurants. Clean and workers kind! Next time again I will come, breakfast is also so good

very good location near metro station, many restaurants and shopping mall nearby hotel. Is also nearby the electronics shopping malls. Clean and modern room with good western and chinese movies. Comfortable stay and attentive helpful hotel staff
