Honestly, I wasn't very impressed when we first arrived. After all, the weekend rates weren't cheap, and I'd booked two rooms. The hotel's layout was also quite peculiar; the front desk was on the seventh floor, so you had to go up there to check in before heading to your room. The rooms were quite small and didn't even have a mini-fridge. So much for enjoying an ice-cold soda in the summer! I did spot an ice bucket, so I called customer service for some ice, which somewhat alleviated the issue.
Another thing I found really inconvenient was that you had to go down to the first floor to pick up any food deliveries! Why? Because the delivery robot was stuck on the 7th floor! The ground floor only has a small transitional lobby where couriers leave the food, so you have to go all the way down to fetch it yourself. Because of this, I never even got to see what the delivery robot looked like.
The service also left a lot to be desired. It's been ages since I've encountered such cold and impersonal front desk staff. I can only conclude that, for the price in Shanghai, the value for money is truly poor. Later, we needed more water and fresh towels for our room. By the time our entire family had finished showering, they still hadn't arrived. Sigh, I had to call again, and even then, I ended up having to flag down a service attendant who was passing by just to get what we needed. That's also something I haven't experienced in a very long time.
Okay, complaints aside, let's talk about the positives now. The hotel's lake view is truly spectacular! The platform on the third floor was absolutely amazing for watching fireworks! What's more, my room had a partial view of both the lake and the river, which was fantastic. Watching the river sparkle in the morning sunlight was truly beautiful!
Finding food nearby was also very convenient, which was a big plus. Taking a walk by the lake was incredibly comfortable too. After enjoying the fireworks and dinner, we had a lovely stroll by the lake before heading back to the hotel – it was perfect.

There is also a free shuttle bus to Haichang Park, with thoughtful service. From the front desk to the guest rooms, the hotel is full of penguin themes and the atmosphere is perfect. You can also see real penguins, which children like very much. The room is clean and hygienic. Although the weather was cold, the staff was still full of enthusiasm. Outstanding
CChristineA very satisfying and pleasant stay at Mercure Yu Garden for 6 nights. The staff here are friendly and helpful. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Free drinks, coffee, tea and cookies are provided in the room. The breakfast has many varieties and delicious. Supper is provided. Shuttle bus is provided. Recommended!
AAmila MoonamaleNovotel Shanghai Pudong Chuansha is an excellent choice for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. The hotel is exceptionally clean, with modern amenities and spacious rooms. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay. A standout feature is the free shuttle service to Pudong Airport, making transfers hassle-free. For Disneyland visitors, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle, placing you just minutes from the magic. Its location near Chuansha Metro Station adds further accessibility. With great dining options and a well-equipped gym, this hotel delivers both leisure and business convenience. Highly recommended for families.
CcoaltrollMore than worth the price especially considering the location. In terms of rooms what you see is what you get. I didn't ask for many services but the staff seemed extremely nice and respectful, I don't doubt they'd do the best they can. The only concern is thin walls so it's easy to hear others and for others to hear you but considering the price and location I'm surprised that's the only complaint. Surprising thing to say but the toilets are also amazing, nice view, seat heating, bidet, often cleaned and replenished toilet paper, etc etc. Very nice I'll definitely come here next time I'm in Shanghai.
GGuest UserI booked a Deluxe Suite, which was 43 square meters – larger than the family rooms at Atour (this was my initial reason for choosing it). The window view was absolutely beautiful, completely lush and green. If you visit in late autumn, with the sycamore leaves outside the window turning yellow, it would offer a different kind of charm, whether sunny or rainy.
The toiletries provided were Acqua di Parma. There was a walk-in closet, which my son loved to hide in and play games. The hotel's restaurant was also very good; for convenience, we had lunch there on the day we arrived, and both the presentation and taste were excellent. For breakfast, there were options for both Chinese and Western set menus.
The location is extremely convenient. It's just over 700 meters from iapm and the subway station. Several popular and renowned coffee shops are within walking distance, including O.P.S, DUO, TIESHOU Coffee Bureau, and Village Entrance Big Tree Coffee.
The hotel has a chic and refined style, making it more suitable for friends or couples traveling together. Of course, it's not entirely without its downsides; because the windows are very large, the soundproofing isn't ideal, so you might want to ask the front desk for earplugs.
WWU.NIENENA Five-Star Experience from Check-In to Farewell!
Review:
Our stay from August 6–9 was one of the most memorable experiences my wife and I have ever had in Shanghai. Upon arrival, we were thoughtfully upgraded to the Pearl Tower Bund View Suite, and every detail throughout our stay reflected The Ritz-Carlton’s Gold Standards.
Special thanks to Mr. Joey Zhang, Ms. Cherry Gan, Ms. Daisy Sun, and Ms. Lydia – their professionalism, warmth, and genuine care made us feel valued and looked after every single day. Lydia, in particular, greeted us with a radiant smile each day, leaving us with one of the warmest memories of this trip.
From the breathtaking views to the comfort of the room and the impeccable service, everything exceeded our expectations. The Ritz-Carlton will remain our only choice whenever we return to Shanghai.
GGuest UserThe room environment is very good. Although the available space does not seem very large in the picture, it is actually not as crowded as imagined. It is close to most of the surrounding squares and has convenient transportation.
GGuest UserThe hotel room had a very good view and a large tub. Breakfast was good with champagne served. More importantly, the service by Jennie, Deslin and Flora was warm and friendly and made the stay a pleasant one.
GGuest UserSolo female traveller. Self-declaration of residence during your visit via a link the staff will share via WeChat. (For me, the submission under the Chinese UI only worked.) Free one-time clean-up of the room, no water provided so have to buy on your own. New towels and emptying of dustbins can be requested. Location is a 7-10 minute walk to Shanghai Natural History Museum Station and Nanjing West Road Station; 20 minute journey to Shanghai Railway Station via MRT if you are taking trips out of the city. On the way back from Nanjing West Station, there is a 7-Eleven at the station and a Family Mart nearby the station. There is also a mini-mart near the main entrance of the accommodation residential area. There are two lifts, but usually only one is operating, so I had to wait for the lift for sometime if I left the unit at 8.30-9am.
If you are sensitive to dust, request for a deep clean of the room. There is quite a fair bit of dust under the bed. I visited the tail-end of spring where there were a few mozzies that came by, but there is an insect-repellent diffuser in the room.
Washing machine is excellent, you may use the laundry detergent provided. Used it a couple of times, clothes are fine.
Projector works well with MangoTV free subscription. It was nice to use it. You may also verify with staff on the address of the accommodation in Chinese, which you can use for Taobao and Dianping (if no local phone number) / *******. For ride hails via DiDi, pick up point is at the main entrance, the same direction to head to if you are going to Shanghai Natural History Museum Station. You’ll see a petrol kiosk outside the main entrance.
FFairy DeeThe room is good and small but doesn’t feel crammed. Front desk is friendly and speak English. There’s a laundry room. Food will get delivered to your room. Walking distance from the subway , Shanghai railway station and most land marks. It’s in the center of the city or close to it. Many restaurants close by. This was my third stay and I’d stay here again.
DdjimanderssonOverall I had a decent experience at this hotel, but the service was lacking, which is a shame since the property is very nice. When you check into a 5 star hotel, there are certain expectations and unfortunately this hotel did not meet them.
Upon arrival there is usually a doorman, helping you with your luggage, opening doors and showing you to the reception. There were none when I arrived. That's fine, not really an issue.
However after I dragged my luggage to the reception the staff ignored me for a solid minute while I was standing right in front of them. Not exactly a five star welcome. Of course the room wasn't ready so I had to wait 15-20 minutes to get my key.
The room was nice and clean with a great view, but had a bit of a strange layout where the sink was in the hallway and the shower in the corner so there's no real place to change clothes unless you close the curtains.
It was raining a lot during my stay but the staff were kind enough to lend me a broken umbrella. Better than nothing I guess. That might actually have been her personal umbrella so I appreciate the gesture nonetheless.
During my stay I had a strange feeling of not really being welcome, which I've never had at a hotel in China before.
Upon checkout the staff tried to pressure me multiple times to give a five star review and include certain names in the review which I did not appreciate. That needs to be earned.
If this hotel improves its service it would be 5 star no doubt, but until then it's not really worth the money.
