Honestly, I wasn't very impressed when we first arrived. After all, the weekend rates weren't cheap, and I'd booked two rooms. The hotel's layout was also quite peculiar; the front desk was on the seventh floor, so you had to go up there to check in before heading to your room. The rooms were quite small and didn't even have a mini-fridge. So much for enjoying an ice-cold soda in the summer! I did spot an ice bucket, so I called customer service for some ice, which somewhat alleviated the issue. Another thing I found really inconvenient was that you had to go down to the first floor to pick up any food deliveries! Why? Because the delivery robot was stuck on the 7th floor! The ground floor only has a small transitional lobby where couriers leave the food, so you have to go all the way down to fetch it yourself. Because of this, I never even got to see what the delivery robot looked like. The service also left a lot to be desired. It's been ages since I've encountered such cold and impersonal front desk staff. I can only conclude that, for the price in Shanghai, the value for money is truly poor. Later, we needed more water and fresh towels for our room. By the time our entire family had finished showering, they still hadn't arrived. Sigh, I had to call again, and even then, I ended up having to flag down a service attendant who was passing by just to get what we needed. That's also something I haven't experienced in a very long time. Okay, complaints aside, let's talk about the positives now. The hotel's lake view is truly spectacular! The platform on the third floor was absolutely amazing for watching fireworks! What's more, my room had a partial view of both the lake and the river, which was fantastic. Watching the river sparkle in the morning sunlight was truly beautiful! Finding food nearby was also very convenient, which was a big plus. Taking a walk by the lake was incredibly comfortable too. After enjoying the fireworks and dinner, we had a lovely stroll by the lake before heading back to the hotel – it was perfect.

It is a good choice to travel during off-peak hours and take the children out for a vacation. Some of the surrounding venues are also suitable for taking children to visit. There is also a free shuttle bus to Haichang Park, with thoughtful service. From the front desk to the guest rooms, the hotel is full of penguin themes and the atmosphere is perfect. You can also see real penguins, which children like very much. The room is clean and hygienic. Although the weather was cold, the staff was still full of enthusiasm. When checking in, they provided detailed suggestions for travel and some nearby venues. I give a thumbs up to the hotel staff!

Our family of three wanted to visit Haichang Ocean Park for the weekend, so we opted for a highly cost-effective hotel+ticket package. Staying at the Haichang Penguin Resort Hotel was a truly wonderful experience. A quick note for future guests: there's another hotel called Wanxin Penguin Hotel right opposite, and they are both very close. I haven't stayed at the Wanxin, so I can't comment on it; this review is solely for the Penguin Resort Hotel where we stayed. **Transportation:** This aspect can be split into two parts. First, getting to the hotel: our family drove ourselves. Second, getting from the hotel to Haichang Ocean Park: the hotel provides a direct shuttle bus service to the park. It's essential to check with the front desk in advance for the shuttle schedule and departure times to avoid delaying your visit. Also, regarding the shuttle, make sure not to confuse the two hotels; double-check the signage before boarding so you don't accidentally get on the Wanxin's shuttle. **Dining:** The breakfast spread was plentiful and tasted delicious. I got the feeling that after 8:30 AM, it's peak dining time – don't ask me how I know! For those who enjoy a good meal, I'd suggest getting up early with your family to have breakfast. **Tickets:** Our hotel stay included complimentary 2-day tickets to Haichang Ocean Park. The absolute key feature is that park entry is via facial recognition! First, you check in at the hotel front desk, then register your ID card information and facial data there. After that, it's 'super easy mode' – you just use facial recognition to enter the park directly. This made entry incredibly smooth and convenient. **Entertainment:** The hotel offers a kids' play area. It's not massive, but a lot of thoughtful consideration clearly went into it. The play area is divided into two sections: a penguin habitat and a children's activity zone. The penguin habitat is prominently located within the hotel, even extending into the hotel restaurant, allowing diners to enjoy the company of penguins. The most ingenious part is how the hotel integrated these two sections: they created an opening in the floor of the penguin habitat, covered with a transparent dome. Kids can crawl through a tunnel from the play area and poke their heads out through this dome to observe the penguins up close. At that moment, the penguins were adorable, and the kids' peeking action was equally cute. **Details:** This Penguin Hotel is definitely geared towards families with children, and the attention to detail is quite impressive. For instance, the room layout includes bunk beds for children, which could comfortably sleep two kids – though I only have one! Kids' toothbrushes, slippers, and even a child-sized toilet seat were all provided. Upon check-in, we also received a complimentary penguin plushie, which guests can take home. When the kids are happy, the parents are happy – it's a simple truth. But truly understanding what children enjoy and fostering their joyful, healthy growth requires the kind of thoughtful consideration and practical execution that this Penguin Hotel demonstrates.
