My recent stay at the Shanghai North Bund Pearl Hotel was incredibly satisfying overall! The hotel's decor is quite distinctive, beautifully blending retro and modern elements. The intricate design details throughout the lobby and hallways exude a sophisticated charm, truly impressing you the moment you step inside.
The room was more spacious than I expected, with a well-thought-out layout and complete amenities. A delightful surprise was the refrigerator, which is incredibly convenient for chilling drinks or storing snacks, especially during summer. The bedding was comfortable, the bathroom spotlessly clean, hot water supply ample, and the shower pressure excellent. It was a great experience.
The location is another significant advantage. The North Bund area is relatively quiet but offers excellent transportation links, making it very convenient to reach popular attractions like The Bund and Lujiazui. Plus, there are plenty of dining options in the vicinity.
Most importantly, in a first-tier city like Shanghai, especially in a prime location like the North Bund where hotels can easily cost upwards of a thousand yuan, the Pearl Hotel offers very reasonable prices, providing exceptional value for money! It's a highly recommended choice, whether you're traveling for business or leisure.
I will definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Shanghai! 👍

Overall I had a decent experience at this hotel, but the service was lacking, which is a shame since the property is very nice. When you check into a 5 star hotel, there are certain expectations and unfortunately this hotel did not meet them.
Upon arrival there is usually a doorman, helping you with your luggage, opening doors and showing you to the reception. There were none when I arrived. That's fine, not really an issue.
However after I dragged my luggage to the reception the staff ignored me for a solid minute while I was standing right in front of them. Not exactly a five star welcome. Of course the room wasn't ready so I had to wait 15-20 minutes to get my key.
The room was nice and clean with a great view, but had a bit of a strange layout where the sink was in the hallway and the shower in the corner so there's no real place to change clothes unless you close the curtains.
It was raining a lot during my stay but the staff were kind enough to lend me a broken umbrella. Better than nothing I guess. That might actually have been her personal umbrella so I appreciate the gesture nonetheless.
During my stay I had a strange feeling of not really being welcome, which I've never had at a hotel in China before.
Upon checkout the staff tried to pressure me multiple times to give a five star review and include certain names in the review which I did not appreciate. That needs to be earned.
If this hotel improves its service it would be 5 star no doubt, but until then it's not really worth the money.

Hyatt on the Bund is situated on the North Bund peninsula, flanked by luxury hotels like the Regent and the W. What's great is that you can get comparable views for roughly half the price of these other high-end options.
The value for money is still pretty good. However, the post-2024 renovation style is, shall we say, a mixed bag compared to what it was. The rooms feel less spacious and open than before, and it seems New Aspect restaurant downstairs is closed and no longer holds its 'Black Pearl' distinction.
This hotel was my choice after moving from Disneyland to the city center. For the Bund area, it's a well-regarded option, and a major plus is the free parking – at 20 yuan an hour, two days of parking would certainly add up!
The breakfast at the Executive Lounge was, frankly, just average. For an Executive Lounge in the 2500 RMB price range, the selection was quite underwhelming. While I can understand that some Chinese dim sum might be pre-made/frozen, the overall variety could definitely be improved. The omelet station's cooking was also very poor. The noodle bar only offered noodles and wontons, and you had to season them yourself. Small things like not even having Yakult... how much could that really cost the hotel?
The pleasant surprise was the enhanced service initiatives post-renovation. A dedicated specialist, almost like a personal concierge, contacted me via phone and WeChat before check-in. I initially thought I wouldn't need this, but when I wasn't happy with my room's view upon arrival, I reached out to Lorna, the specialist handling Ctrip bookings. She immediately brought her colleague and helped resolve the issue. Despite the hotel being almost fully booked, she managed to upgrade me to a higher-floor Executive Room with Executive Lounge access. She even gave my child a small teddy bear, which was a very thoughtful touch.
Given the Hyatt's prime location and competitive pricing, it's a very popular hotel. Consequently, front desk check-in can be quite slow. It seems booking an Executive Lounge room might offer faster check-in and better views. Also, for guests who aren't Hyatt Globalists, I personally find Ctrip often has better rates.

Very cool designed hotel and love the design and indeed the stunning view of the Bund from the room. Had a long time deciding which hotel for bund views and definitely made a right choice! The breakfast was amazing- so many choices! Good quality. And the bar outside - wow again - great place to chill at night with the view. Also had dinner at Yen restaurant in the hotel - service is excellent and food is delicious. Happy that I could also order a cool cocktail collaboration they had with another cool place in Shanghai. Anyway shows W’s commitment to good design and lifestyle. Location of the hotel is great - short easy walk to the Bund and in the lovely - more chill neighbourhood of HongKou. Just next to mall with everything. Great stay! And yes love the very cute XLB and chopsticks plush in the room. Couldn’t stop admiring them :)

Staff were attentive and polite. Room was very clean. There was the usual wear and tear - minor. It’ll be fantastic if the orange and white stains in the shower and next to the bathtub were completely removed, but very minor as the bathroom was super clean. My room faced a construction site and the street. In the morning I could hear the noise from the site and honking from the cars. But a bonus is that I have a view of the tower! Location is not too far away from the Bund and the financial district - short taxi ride will get you everywhere you need. Will definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Shanghai!

the hotel location is perfect, right at the triangle of famous sight seeing points with walking distance only, about 30 minutes to Yuyuan old street, 20 minutes to People's square, 5 minutes to Nanjing walking street and just cross a short bridge to the Old Shanghai Port. At both side of this bridge is perfect place to take the best photos with TV Tower. The hotel is with old style, very outstanding right at the round about of the tourists roads. In general I will choose this hotel again when I come back Shanghai

The location is fantastic! You can walk directly from the second-floor lounge to the riverside, and it's just a two-minute stroll to the ferry terminal. From there, you can catch a 2 RMB ferry to the other side of the river. Housekeeping was very attentive; for example, they replaced our child's bath towels after their afternoon soak while we were out for dinner. The only slight drawback was that you need to turn off the water supply to the bathtub before going to sleep, otherwise, the motor emits a low humming noise. Also, some floorboards seemed a bit warped, possibly from water exposure. Otherwise, everything else was quite good. We had originally planned to stay two nights at the tallest hotel across the river, but our child wasn't keen on it. This was mainly because we encountered a typhoon, and that particular building was often enveloped in clouds, completely obscuring the night view. So, we decided to extend our stay here for an additional two days. The rooftop Southeast Asian restaurant offers absolutely stunning views; however, the food itself isn't particularly good, so I'd highly recommend just going for drinks to enjoy the panorama.

As a first-time traveller to Shanghai, we couldn’t have asked for a better hotel experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly helpful, guiding us through everything we needed—from receiving parcels to providing the correct address for our food deliveries.
They were also very patient in answering all our questions and giving great recommendations on places to visit. Their warm and friendly service made us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay. They also try their best to ensure that we have a comfortable stay by providing us with fans when the room was too warm.
If you want to send parcels that you buy online to the hotel, do please ensure that you fill in the right address by asking from the hotel staff.
The hotel itself was clean, well-maintained, and in a convenient location. They also provide free afternoon tea and supper. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially first-time travellers looking for a smooth and stress-free experience!

Before our check-in, the hotel called, thoughtfully inquiring if we had children and mentioning they would prepare kid-friendly amenities. Unfortunately, these seem to have been overlooked upon our arrival. The lobby's air conditioning was incredibly powerful; it felt quite chilly stepping in from the summer heat. We received a complimentary room upgrade, which was a nice gesture. However, upon arriving at 3:20 PM, we were informed our room wasn't ready and had to wait until 4 PM. While we waited, they offered us complimentary drinks. We ordered three, but were then informed that only two of them would be on the house. The balcony offered a fantastic view, and the hotel boasted an impressive design aesthetic. The pool staff were very attentive, and the kids absolutely loved the warm soaking pool.

AAnonymous UserI've stayed here a few times and it's one of the cleanest and most comfortable hotels I've ever stayed in. There are many restaurants and supermarkets nearby. You need to swipe your card to go upstairs, and go downstairs to get takeout. The room has a refrigerator providing drinks, snacks and ice cream at a reasonable price. The air conditioner can blow both hot and cold air normally. If you feel cold, you can blow hot air, and if you feel hot, you can blow cold air. What satisfied me was that there were no unnecessary decorations or lights in the room, which made it look very comfortable. The lady at the front desk was very enthusiastic and responded to questions promptly. The cleaning lady was also very friendly and the room was so clean. When you go out, you just want a clean and comfortable environment. I couldn't help but praise her. Secondly, the network is smooth and the latency is not high (be cautious if you have high requirements for the device), but the mouse occasionally malfunctions. Finally, I would like to make two suggestions: 1. Improve the mouse and other equipment; 2. Add robot food delivery service. I can’t imagine how popular this would be (although I’ll come back next time)

XXiaoshukekaifeijiThe front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room was incredibly spacious with plenty of room for all our luggage. I was staying with two friends, and they kindly upgraded us from a twin room to a family room. The cleanliness was top-notch; our room was spotless every evening when we returned during our four-day stay. They also offered free luggage storage, which was very convenient. We absolutely loved our stay, and my friends even complimented me on finding such a great place!
OOlga SolomennikovaAuthentic guest house with interesting furnishings in a quiet area but very convenient for going anywhere in Shanghai. The metro is within walking distance, there are several good cafes with local cuisine nearby. When leaving the townhouse, you go straight to the market, where there are fruits and the freshest seafood. Upon arrival, there was a problem with leaving luggage, since we arrived at 9 am. Therefore, if you plan to leave your belongings until check-in on the day of arrival, please contact your host in advance. We succeeded, but since we don’t know Chinese, we lost a lot of time standing in the heat outside the house, since the hotel did not have a receptionist. In general, the owners quickly respond to all requests and requests, which is important in another country. Spacious room with high ceilings, the room has absolutely everything for a normal life, very good hair and body cosmetics in the shower. Iron, hair dryer and even mosquito repellent, although it was not useful. Snow-white linen and towels. Very nice place. Bottled water was waiting for us in the room, which was also a huge plus from the road! Another big plus is the opportunity to wash your own things. The only thing that created discomfort was the springs in the double bed, they were very noticeable, the problem was solved by covering them with two bedspreads, the owner should change the mattress. I recommend it for staying and if I’m ever in Shanghai, I’ll stay here! Thank you, friends 🌺

KKamonmart789Stay here for a concert at Modern Sky Lab where I can walk there only 2 crossroad. Location is very convenient and close to Metro (7-8 min walk)
Surround by restaurant / cafe
The room is cozy but well equipped for what I want during stay
Cleanliness is so so, bedsheet and towel is clean
but there’re some dust on the curtain and wall
I would rate this 8/10 for the convenience.
Owner and staff are very friendly and helpful
I arrived at 9.30AM and she helped me to checked in when room is available. Thank you.
