Beautiful property. Food in the club intercontinental and the buffet at La Rue leave a bit to be desired.

The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views and impeccably maintained traditional interiors that exude elegance and charm. However, our experience was somewhat marred by certain aspects of our stay. While the staff was polite and courteous, their English proficiency was limited, which made communication a bit challenging at times. Additionally, we were disappointed by the overall quality of the guest experience and the hotel’s approach to maintaining a refined atmosphere. Despite raising a complaint about a noisy neighbor, the hotel did not take adequate measures to resolve the issue, which was frustrating. The breakfast buffet was another letdown. Unless you opt for the Club Lounge, the main dining area is overwhelmingly crowded, making it difficult to enjoy a relaxed meal. Moreover, despite the buffet being advertised until 10:30 AM, we found that by 9:30 AM, many food items had already run out, with little to no replenishment. While the hotel’s aesthetics and ambiance are truly remarkable, we expected a higher standard of service and guest management, especially given its reputation.

One of the best locations in Shanghai we have had the opportunity to stay. We use our weekends to travel to Shanghai from Nanjing and this was one of those. Walking distance to great restaurants and the service was wonderful. Being able to get up in the morning and walk to several independently run cafés is fantastic as well. in-house breakfast is absolutely fantastic. Service is wonderful and everyone is friendly, accommodating, and work hard to make sure you’re happy. We’ll definitely stay again

initially i was given room in building 3 which is a bit old andhas musky smell, after my conplain, i was given room in main building which is satiafactory

I would 100% return here. Reasonable value compared to others in a similar location. Immaculately kept rooms on a historic site. Great service. They upgraded our rooms as the first room had beds too small. The only let down was that they didn’t let us swim because we didn’t have swimming caps. The pool facility is also old, could do with a complete renovation (see Conrad Beijing for a hotel swimming pool done well)

It is the area with the most traffic congestion in Shanghai. The history of the building does not camouflage the rancid rooms that smell musty and whose details are anything but delicate.

The people are very helpful and they are all very nice. I haven’t had a chance to check out their swimming pool. Will definitely re-visit this hotel

Expected too much, received too less. very complicated if it's your first time, to find the main building for reception, no clear signs then no directions for the parking lot. Nobody to greet you outside, neither inside, nobody cares you're there, that's not normal for Intercontinental, maybe all the employers were in a bad mood. The hotel nicely offered an upgrade to a suite, I don't want to sound ungrateful but there was only two tiny windows, it was dark and smelly, the air purifier was not enough the clean the room bad smell, no window at all in the suite living room. Beside that, on Saturday they were making maintenance in the garage and a terrible toxic smell was coming to our suite on the 4th floor!! Not only to our room but to the whole hotel areas, outside as well. with a room that has a very small window, was quite uncomfortable to enjoy the room, I felt jealous of the other rooms who has a proper and big window. So I'm still not sure if it was really a good thing accepting the upgrade. The breakfast was very nice and not crowded, food seves well. they have a nice garden, public and one reserved only for hotel guests, that gives you some peace to relax as the hotel area is invaded everyday by outsiders to take pictures, would be much better if has more places to sit, to stay beside the fountain, we sat on the floor. Intercontinental Ruijin is a beautiful property that should be an amazing place to stay but right now, I don't recommend.

Service was really tight, as foreigners that spoke the language I found it really challenging to deal with the restrictions in place and the lack of communication. My partner is vegetarian. Breakfast was not signaled properly specially the dimsum area

Service was excellent. Clean room and large bathroom. Walking distance to Tianzifang. Thank you for the free upgrade to make the stay more comfortable for our family.
